Hello again everyone. First let me ask this: should I keep all my posts to a single thread or is it ok to start a new thread when the topic is different?

I got my ModernVapor 902 yesterday. I must say I am very impressed. Lots of vapor, great flavor. It has been everything I hoped it would be!

I am wondering about when the cart gets low. Can vaping a cart too long after it gets low damage anything? I recall reading about singing or burning the filler material, but so far it still looks white and clean. I have a mild OCD factor of wanting to completely finish something before I open other one. (for example, it drives me crazy when my wife opens a new bag of chips when there is still an open bag!) I don't want my obsession with finishing something to cause any premature wearing of my hardware.

Last night I thought I was low on my first menthol cart so i bit my lip and cracked open one of my tobacco carts. This morning, just to see, I put the spent menthol cart back on and was surprised to see a lot of vapor! But it only lasted for a few drags and quickly the vapor production plummeted and it started to have a weaker flavor. Is this the sign that it is spent?

Also, in a kind of related topic. My kit came with 2 atomizers. Since I like to finish something before I open another, my 2nd atomizer is still in the plastic. Would it be better swap them out on occasion or does it not really matter? I imagine when I go to clean the first one I'll break down and open the 2nd one while it dries. Thanks in advance!

- JT

Well first things first...welcome to the ECF and welcome to vaping, it sounds like you are off to a good start. As for getting the most out of your cart, you will notice what you observed so far and once the flavor changes to a distinct burnt popcorn like taste you are definitely done. You can avoid this by dripping when vapor production starts to fade and before any burning taste is present.

You asked and answered you own question about the atomizers, search around and you will find plenty of tips on how to keep your atty clean....that should help feed your OCD.

Again welcome aboard and happy vaping!

Depending on the filler material its possible to singe it when it gets to low. Best to top the cart back off once you start losing flavor/vapor. When I do use atty's I only swap them around because one is to contaminated with a flavor, I don't want any leftover menthol or cinnamon taste when I'm vaping coffee or some fruit flavored juice. Otherwise swapping atty's when you swap cart's wont really do anything to make them last longer just maybe seem that way since your not using the same one continually

Hello again, JT! I can sort of relate to the OCD thing, but mine revolves around taking meticulous care of my "techie" toys, including my PV's. Let's put it this way...I still have my very first Nokia cell phone from over ten years ago. It still looks brand new and I bet if I got it turned back on, it would still work like new. Same thing with the iPod I bought like 6 years ago. So, yes, I've become a little nutty with keeping all of my PV hardware clean and new looking. Fortunately, this is very simple and doesn't take long. I just rinse my atty's in hot water until the water flows out of them. If I've used them quite a bit with darker juices, I'll soak them in Isopropyl Alcohol for 5-10 minutes. I usually let them air dry overnight, but if I'm in a hurry I'll blow out the excess water and do a dry burn or hold them in front of a hairdryer. Works like a charm, and I've had the same atty's that originally came with my kits.

Thanks for the replies SnowDragon and TL1000RSquid. I suppose topping them off will be easier once I have some menthol juice. Perhaps its only an issue for me because I'm using prefilled carts. Once I get through them and start filling them myself I'll just start topping them off if I think its getting low.

I can see where using a different atty when switching to totally different flavors would be very necessary. Switching from my tobacco to menthol and back seems to hardly made a difference. Maybe the first couple hits are kinda mixed flavors, but after that I cant tell the other flavor was ever in there. I suppose it could just be that the flavors are pretty similar, just one has minty overtones.

Thanks again guys, I suspect I just need to give it some time. There is certainly a learning curve, but I am absolutely loving it so far!

WomanofHeart: Thanks for the kind words you've said in most/all of my threads so far. Your input is appreciated. I am definitely going to be keeping my hardware clean and new just like you talk about (at least I will try to =D ). How often do you clean your atty's? every few days or once a week? Or do you just kinda "know" when its not vaporizing optimally?

Awww shucks! You're welcome, JT! :)

Well, it's a little bit of a half-assed cleaning schedule and a little bit of just knowing when they aren't producing like they should. It's been my experience that darker/stronger juices gum up atty's quicker than lighter/weaker ones. When I'm seeing less vapor production (especially on fresh or near-fresh batteries) and I'm having to pull a little harder on the cart, then I know it's probably time to switch atty's and give that one a good rinse. I'll usually give them an alcohol bath once a week just to make sure all the gunk is out of them. I also work on a bit of a rotating schedule, especially with my Mega atty's since I have 4 of them. Two are in use, while the other two are ready for use.

Side note: When I switch juices, I'll blow out my atty before I put the new cart on it. It helps make the transition to a new taste smoother and delays the gunk build up.

Hi JTman,

My PV is jury rigged with half a wine cork and an elastic band as I'm a bit heavy handed and broke
the button. I never change my atty until it dies, (I do get some 'interesting' flavours) use a drip tip so eat a lot of juice as keep forgetting to check it's gone down the hole.

My best advise is to make sure you have plenty of Atty's & lots of juice plus think of all the component parts as disposable.

I have been smoke free from Jan 1st 2010 and love it.

So I finally refilled my "tobacco" cart with the Halo freedom juice I had ordered and all I can say is WOW! YUMMY this stuff is amazing. Lots of vapor and such a yummy, kind of nutty flavor. Reminds me of sitting at a campfire lol. Now I find that I'm topping it off with 5 or so drops every now and then to keep that strong flavor and vapor production. Looks like I need to look into dripping next!

Cil: I do have the extra atty my kit came with, and I have 12 KR808 cartos that I had ordered before I realized that they are not compatible with my kit. I do have an adapter on the way so as long as I can get a few refills from each carto I should be set for awhile! (I'm sure I'll be ordering more stuff before the week is out LOL, this new hobby is quickly becoming an obsession!)

Hello- Welcome- and Happy Vaping!! Go to the New Member's section (You're already here lol) and check out MisstressNomad's videos for broke newbies. I learned alot from her videos as well as alot of reading and asking questions on here too. I have been vaping for a little over 2 months and loving every minute of it- there is so much to learn and a few trials and errors, but stick with it and you will be so much happier and healthier!

Heartbskts: I have watched her videos (well I tried to watch most of them anyway, over 60 minutes of video is alot!)

So after some time reading in the cart mods section I realize my delima certainly isnt a new one. So many ways of trying to maximise carts using all different things. Today is now my 3rd day of vaping (only 2 analogs in the last 48 hours! woo!) and each day I feel like I learn so much more!. I feel like I am getting a handle on the carts and I've been trying my best to drag as slow and light as possible, its making a big difference. Now hopefully I get my 510 to 808 adapter tomorrow and can start learning all over again with my cartos!
