Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well.

Iv smoked for around 19 years now, around 20 golden Virginia roll ups a day, and iv been trying to make the switch to vaping for health reasons.

I'm using a kroma z with a 0.8 coil, 6 mg nic and a 70 vg 30 pg liquid and iv felt so ill.

Il start in the morning and by the evening iv already crashed out as I feel so drained and dizzy, even though iv only vaped 1 ml of liquid(guessing because its MTL?) .

Did anyone else feel really rough when switching?

Welcome to ECF, Sunzz. For some people, switching from smoking to vaping can be 'rough'. The data in your post has me confused, as from that data you are apparently intaking less nicotine now than when you were smoking, but feeling dizzy is almost always a sign of too much nicotine. How long have you been vaping? Are you a 'dual user' (smoke and vape) or have you switched completely? It's also possible that not smoking (at all or not as much) is causing your 'ailments', as it brings many more chemicals into your body than vaping does, and what you are experiencing may well be withdrawal symptoms. Good luck and 'grats on the switch.

    Where you least expect it....
Welcome to the forum. It seems like you had a slight case of nicotine poisoning. Should perhaps decrease the amount you vape a day. Some people don't do well with high VG liquids too, so perhaps experiment with a PG based e-liquid and see if that makes any difference. If this is your first time vaping, you may want to try MTL (Mouth to Lung) too which resembles traditional smoking a bit more than DL (Direct to Lung).

Should be an easier transition for some but, as most will learn. Vaping is a series of trials and errors. You will have to experiment and find what you like before it works for you. Am sure others will chime in with suggestions and help.

Hope you enjoy your time here and wishing you the best in your transition into vaping. Congrats!

If the Kroma is your first vaping device you've tried, it may be too powerful or ur vaping it at to higher wattage for your need.

Try reducing your nicotine to 3mg on that device or maybe get a small low powered MTL device and use your existing e-liquid in it. You may find this less harsh without the effects your getting.

I was also a roll-your-own smoker (Golden Virginia) for years when i switched to vaping. At that time products weren't as efficient as today and i started on 24mg 50/50 liquid in a clearomiser. Probably using 2-3ml a day. That's 10 x the nicotine that you are using.
I recall feeling a bit rough for the first couple of months but am fairly sure that it was caused by stopping smoking rather than from vaping. 10-odd years later i'm still vaping at 12mg (4-5ml a day).. I don't think your nicotine intake (6mg) is enough to make you feel sick.
It may well be either a coincidence that you are actually ill/run down at the same time as you have started vaping or it could be psychosomatic.
If the problem persists or you have any doubts see a doctor.

I'd be sure your juice is really 6mg/ml and not 6% which would be really high. Is the e liquid store bought?

I felt very wierd and bad the first couple of weeks or month or something when i quit smoking and started vaping and at first i thought maybe was vaping but since then never happend again even tho at some point i started vaping much more.

Nowdays there is covid and long covid symptoms and also vaccines symptoms and i dont say out of the blue i had actually doctors confirm to me after many exams that some symptoms i had similar to yours was most likely from the vaccine even after months of doing it.

Most likely i believe its because u quit smoking but just saying nowdays have in mind it could be all sorts of things.

Thats what i was thinking, surly my nicotine level isnt to much, yeah im wondering if its chemicals from cigs causing this :(

Yeah im thinking it may be my body struggling to adjust or something like that :(

Thanks il take a look now :)

Welcome. You might be experiencing dehydration symptoms, as vaping will dehydrate you very easily. Be sure to drink plenty of water while you are making the transition. The water will also help flush out the toxins your body is expelling as a result of quitting cigarettes! Hope You’ll feel better soon.

I completely forgot about this, so il make sure im staying hydrated, thanks :)

I agree, 1 ml of 6mg/ml really isn't a whole lot of nicotine, it's actually less than what you were getting from close to 20 cigs a day, so nic withdrawal is certainly something to think about. Also, in an earlier post by @borno, it was questioned whether you were mistakenly confusing 6% nicotine with 6 mg/ml of nicotine. It is very important that you clarify this (at least to yourself) as 6% nic is equal to 60 mg/ml of nic, and that (60 mg/ml) is much more than you were getting from cigs. The post by @K9Luvr about hydration is important too.

Just to clarify, tobacco contains a number of psychoactive substances other than nicotine, while vaping just has nicotine and not the other things. You could be OK nicotine-wise but still experience some withdrawal symptoms because of the other substances you've given up.

I also agree with those who've suggested confirming that there hasn't been a mix up between 6 mg/ml and 6%. It's certainly a common enough mistake. 1 ml of 6% would probably result in 'nic sickness' (an overdose, in other words), but 1 ml of 6 mg/ml isn't likely to be too much for you with your smoking history.

For what it's worth, overdosing on nicotine by vaping doesn't tend to be harmful (the same can't be said of drinking it or skin contact with high concentrations of nicotine). Inhaled nicotine usually takes effect so quickly that people are too miserable to keep vaping long before they consume a dangerous amount. Common symptoms of too much nicotine are some combination of headache, nausea, tiredness, dizziness, and shakiness. They should get better within about 20 minutes once you stop vaping.

    Hello and welcome, Sunzz.

Maybe you did and I missed it, but I think you have to say more about how much you are currently smoking, and how much you are currently vaping, for your friends here to help you figure out how to get a good balance while you progress toward quitting cigarettes.

There are physicians posting here, but none would be so irresponsible as to give you medical advice in this forum. At this time of year, your symptoms could be from something unrelated to smoking or vaping. Perhaps you should see your doctor.

Just anecdotally, I began to feel better than ever during my approx. six weeks of dual use, both smoking and vaping, until I quit smoking cigarettes altogether. I think it was a sense of hope, and how much I liked vaping, that made me feel so refreshed. I believe there is a balance you can achieve.

Editing to add: You have commented some about keeping your vaping nic level low. I firmly believe it is keeping your nic level high enough that is the secret to success. Many vapers who have successfully quit cigarettes will report they later reduced their nic, because they didn't need it to be as high any longer.
