Hey all,

Ok my first full day of vaping on my Halo G6's (KR808, approx 250 mAH batt) and I have some quesitons. Keep in mind as you read this I was a PAD to 1.5 PAD smoker (marlboro light menthols 100's). I got up at 6:30am this morning and as of 7:00pm I have had 3 analogs!! PROGRESS :)

Im vaping on Halo e-juice and so far the only juice I really like out of 6 I have tried is the Malibu and Menthol Ice (Tiki is close but tastes a bit like vaping incense to me). All e-juice is 18mg Nic. All the tobacco flavors (excpet Prime15) taste to me almost like burned rubber...or just plain nasty. Not knocking halo here...as it could be my inexperience or my crappy analog dead taste buds.

When I vape I find the vapor production to be really good, to the point where if I vape for 3-5 sec trying to take gentle pulls (vs a smokers heavy pull) I just about gag on the vapor. I have to hold the vapor in my mouth and slowly inhale then exhale. If I go to quick I almost choke, or if I exhale to quick thru the nose it actually somewhat burns my nose and makes my eyes tear. I also notice a slightly astringent almost acrid (but not like cigarette filter burning acrid) exhale. I keep my Cartos moist by putting in 5-10 drops after each 10 min vape session, I am paranoid about overfilling so I check to make sure to wipe up the drop or two that comes out the atty hole in the bottom of the Carto.

A few have said that this could be just my use of the G6 minis...and I need a stronger setup (like at least an eGO).

Questions:

1) Anyone else first experience this? And does it get better with a better PV?

2) Should I try some different juice makers (I prefer fruity vapes or sweet...I guess tobacco vapes are out for now)? Any suggestions of some very smooth juice

3) Could this be the TH with the 18mg nicotine juice? I would like to go up to 24mg just to make sure Im not shorting myself while I cut down (and hopefully quit analogs), but Im afraid higher nic will definately gag me.

4) Could I be pulling too hard?? Im using both my auto batt and Manual (I do like the manual better). Again I find it more bearable if I pull GENTLY for 3 sec or so... but then the amount of vape I get is slightly less than what I got from my normal analog pull.

Sorry for the short book....guess Im just really serious about this. I want to LOVE vaping...and get away from analogs... at least Im about 90% sold on Malibu.. Thanks in advance all! :)

Welcome & best wishes with this new hobby. Being an admitted super Halo fan, I'll see if I can offer some insight. The G6 is a good setup to begin your vaping experience. As far as the juices go, they do have a harsher throat hit than some other juices. If it is too much for you, other juices might be an option for you. But give it a break in period. There is definitely an adjusment to vaping over smoking, and throat hit is a definite one. You are right about holding the vape in your mouth a second before inhaling. This is true of any juice. Iremember when I began vaping, I always coughed from the juice (not Halo). But that will get better.

Also drink alot of water. E-liquid is dehydrating.

Best wishes!!

Thanks player! I kinda figured maybe Halo was more for the experienced vaper ... thier adverts even say "added TH"...I guess they aint kidding. I will have to try the TruePure as I like the menthol ice, but it tastes too much like Camel menthols which were never my fav.

Also good to hear that you also experienced the TH being a bit strong to start. I guess its like learning all over again (remember that first cig that made you green...lol).

So any suggestions for some milder TH juice that is like Malibu (love this stuff and can see me making that a regular to start with..funny thing is I didnt think I would like it).

Everyone isn't going to like the same juice regardless of what it is. You could try ordering cartomizers and filling them yourself with a different juice.

I absolutely hated Halo juice the first time I tried it. I thought it was like I was was licking the inside of a pill bottle. I've tried it again recently and thought it was pretty good. Tastes do change.

Try some differerent juice from a juice vendor and see if that helps.

Hi FAAmecanic and congrats. For the first day that's progress. I started with some menthol juices but also found them "weird tasting". I now add menthol drops to my fave juices and it is my sweet spot as I can add as much as my palate desires.

FAA my suggestion would be to try all different kinds of juices until you find what suits you best. Your preferences in juice will probably bounce all over the place for the next few weeks so try to get a variety. My thoughts are to check out Mrs. T's for Dessert Flavors. I find them strong but not heavy on the TH. For fruit juicy flavors I like juicyvapor and I use AVE for my tobacco. There are hundreds if not thousands of other good vendors just sharing what worked for me in trying a selection. My recent favs are also Copper Creek and TVR.

Branch out and try different things. It may take you a while to find your all day vape but its worth it.

Congrats on your success in cutting out the analogs!

Just throwing my two cents into this because I believe have an idea of what you're talking about.

I bought a juice from a vendor at 18mg and this vape was nice and smooth. I bought another juice from another vendor at 18mg and this juice had a harsh feeling to it. Felt like the vape was irritating the back of my throat on the inhale and the exhale.

When I started DIY, I would make my juice at 18mg and found that same harshness. Took me forever to figure out it was the amount of NIC I was using. My dumb dumb moment of December. Either way I mixed my juice at 12mg and the harshness was gone. I still got the throat hit I needed and the vapor production was amazing which I'm sure is due to the 60/40 PG/VG mixture.

So, if you're feeling a harsh TH, like it's irritating, try lowering your nic and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions all....

I have been re-filling my cartos from the get go (hence why I got to try 6 of Halo's juices). So far Malibu is the only one that makes me want to come back for more.

Sweedish..thanks for all the suggestions. I have been eyeing Mrs.T's Bakery ..heheh as well as backwoods. I think New Years day will see me placing 3 or 4 orders from different places. Gotta start the journey of branching out somewhere :)

FAA, I like Truepure more than Menthol Ice, but MI is more popular. Malibu Menthol is a really ggod juice. I am not a tobacco fans, and I have only tried Tiki & Freedom.

If you think you would like fruity flavors, there are some good ones out there. You can spend a small fortune buying juices, and vendors' bases for thier juices tend to be the same. And so I would not buy alot of juices from any one vendor, because if you don't like the base of the juice, chances are they all the same base.. Peach is a fruit I don't like to eat, but like to vape.

Your tastes will change in the early months of vaping; in fact some days you may not be able to taste any flavor, but it is all a part of the body detoxing from cigs.

This is a wonderful & positive new hobby for you!

Thats kinda what I was thinking...its the NIC. But being as Im really trying to quit smoking analogs Im afraid to lower the nic much more, unless I look at supplementing with SNUS or something (I think I just answered my own question with this post...lol)

LOL..I somewhat like the Tiki juice but to me it reminds me of aromatic pipe tobacco. In fact my wife came upstairs after I was vaping it for about 30 min or so and said the whole upstairs smelled of it (not a bad smell mind you...but strong).

Again thanks for the advice...

This is just me and I'm only speaking from personal experience. I've also been vaping for over a month so not sure if that has anything to do with this. When I went from 18mg to 12mg, I didn't notice any difference in the way I felt. I got the TH I needed, and I assume I'm getting the nic I need since I haven't vaped anymore or any less than I did when at 18mg.

I also wasn't a very heavy smoker though. I smoked menthol ultra lights and a pack would last me about a week unless I was drinking, then maybe about 5 days.

Ahh with that level of smoking then the 12mg was probably aboout right. At that point you just needed enough to get the TH you wanted. Someday I hope to be down to the 6 or 12mg level...but again it will depend on the TH and "spice" that feels right. Good point though that you make...maybe some makers liquid will be better with less Nic and some with more.

I had many suggestions to reduce my nic in the first week of vaping with my primary issue being light-headedness and heavy chest, but being a long time smoker that varied over the decades from 1 to 3 PADs I didn't want to jeopodize my success by going lower. I found that adding VG to my mix gave me the desired results I was looking for. I found I needed more vapor so I wouldn't pull as hard nor as often trying to satisfy my cravings. Now, just starting week 4 with no analogs, I'm feeling the need to up my nic. The withdrawals are hitting a bit and maybe for a week or two that will help me over the hump. I'm back to pulling hard and often, as well as some of the other issues I read would probably come . . . very distinguishable change in skin condition.

My point . . . read all you can and play around with finding what will work for you . . . then be prepared to adjust. So read, read, read, and you'll find your way. This forum is great for supporting you through to success!!

Best wishes and welcome!!

I wouldn't lower the nicotine. Maybe get a juice with a little more VG.

When I started I vaped lower and vaped my head off. Upped the nic, and didn't vape 24/7.

Sorry, didn't see your post. I'd do the same, get a little more VG. Or maybe even not menthol. Menthol adds to the TH. Which I like but it might make it a little more harsh to some.

Not a problem . . . I think we agree the answer for each of us comes with trial and error . . . and a lot of food for thought!
