So apparently this is an APV called a sigelei 31. Saw the pic on a page I'm a fan of on FB. Let me start by saying I know *nothing* about APV's, only have experience with my eGo and past Joye510 Pen Style. BUT... this is really nice! Anyone give me a crash course on this?

Also, where can I get one?

To be honest I can't specifically tell you about that one, but as you probably already know it's a mechanical mods. Mechanical mods are good for atomizers below 1 ohms. What you look for in a mechanical mod is what type of contacts it has (brass, copper, silver, etc). Silver being the best for it's conductivity, however most have copper or brass because it's cheaper and also is a lot better with heat. That being said, heat is a big issue. The lower the ohms of your atomizer, the more stress it'll be putting on your battery. Anything less than .3, you basically have a pipe bomb in your hand. Anyway, another thing people look for is button location, some people like bottom button, some people like side, others like recess. On the topic of buttons, people also like to check for the smoothness of the button when you fire it. See how smoothly it goes in and out, and whether or not it gets stuck. I've used a couple of avengers and cronuses and those normally get stuck, but there's ways around it. But I figure if you're spending that much, you shouldn't have to worry about it. And well that's all I can think of at the moment for a crash course on mech mods.

Oh btw, I recommend the k100 as a good starter mech mod. It's really good considering it's price.

you can run what ever you want on a mech mod. you do not have to go sub ohm on it. only thing is you have no voltage control. off a fresh charge you will get 4.1v and as voltage drain the power will go down. there is no voltage shut off so you can ruin the battery by discharging it to far. there is a little device you can put in one to make it variable voltage called a kick. not sure if it has a voltage cut-off.

I wish people would stop saying a mechanical mod is only good for sub ohm vaping. Mechanical mods were the first mods to ever come out. Hell, the reason a mod is called a mod in the first place is because someone modified a flashlight or something so that it could be fitted with an atomizer. Before anyone ever even conceived of wrapping their own coil mechanical mods were there keeping people off of cigarettes. A standard 1.5 or 2 ohm atty on a mech is a very decent vape.

I didn't necessarily mean it's only for running low ohms, .... for all I care pop on a 2.8 ohm carto if that's what floats your boat. But let's face it, when most people pick up a mech mod they're trying to blow clouds. I know this from personal experience and working in a brick and mortar, almost everyone that picks up they're first mech mod, says "so I can blow clouds with this now?" then I have to explain to them what atty they would use on it if they really want clouds. This is all personal experience and opinion!

QFT - I vape my mechs at 1.3-1.7ohms all day every day.
