Hey everyone, I recently started vaping after 20 years of smoking. Started with a cheap cartridge pen which helped and have now upgraded somewhat to a Aspire PockeX which i really love so far but i am finding the hit to be really harsh. I am using 18mg/ml juice but that was perfect on the other cart pen. What am i doing wrong?

Hi mikeyb149. Welcome to the ECF. Harshness can be caused by many things.

Three of the Many things, IMO, are Too Low of an Atomizers Ohms for a Non-Adjustable device, too Much PG in an e-liquid, and too high of a Nicotine Level

What are the Ohms of your Coil Heads for that PocketX? And what PG to VG ratio are you using?

Another vote for lowering your nicotine level. The PockeX may be vaporizing juice faster than the pen was, so you're getting more nicotine per vape than you were. 15 mg/ml or 12 mg/ml juice would be less harsh and should still give you what you need to stay off the cigarettes.

Welcome Mikey. Just to experiment you might try buying a small bottle of vg from Walmart or a local pharmacy and adding a couple ml to a few ml of your thinner juice. Would lower the nic and reduce the pg both. Another solution is buy a 0mg 70vg juice in a compatible flavor to add to your existing juice.

Thanks for all the replies. i think i will try both a more vg mix and lower nic to see what works best for me. I just want to stay off the cigs. Thanks
Takes a bit to find a sweet spot with new gear. You'll learn over time what to anticipate.

Sounds like a Good Plan.

You might also pickup a pack of 1.2 Ohm Coil Heads and see if you like them Better.

Welcome to the gang! Keep in mind the new setup is more efficient than the previous one. The higher nic worked in the old setup because it more than likely was a higher resistance (higher ohms) and r
lower power than the new gear. As mentioned above, lowering the nic will help but also check the wattage. I'm not familiar with your setup but I usually start at a low power and work my way up until I get the vape I want.

Just for future reference and purchases, consider a variable wattage mod. What you are currently using is like cooking on a campfire -- one fixed power (wattage) output. With a regulated variable wattage mod you'll be cooking on a gas stove by comparison.

Being able to adjust the power output of you vape setup can be a game changer. You'll gain the ability to adjust your vapor output. You'll gain the ability to adjust your wattage to specific flavors. You'll be able to change the vapor from cool to warm, or vice versa.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Could try the 1.2 ohm coil:

I MTL vape and not a fan of sub ohm coils. Might like to read:
