New Vaper Here :)

Hi guys, just got into vaping last week and thought I should check out the forums. I'm still smoking analog cigs (my battery stopped working and didnt get it replaced for about 3 days, so I'm very much still getting used to it) but I'm hoping to eventually cut out tobacco completely (except maybe a spliff here and there). E-cigs have always fascinated me but until recently it seemed like the only decent ones were massively over-priced. But now that the market has exploded a bit I decided to go downtown and check out the new vape shop. Got myself a Micro Vaped V2 kit for oil (they replaced my battery with a "Vision Spinner" with adjustable voltage when the original batt stopped working) and a Kanger Mini Protank II. I gotta say so far I'm loving it! I can't wait to try all the flavors and experiment with mixing flavors!

Grats on the switch! Hopefully you'll be like me, and just not want a real one!

Second on the backup strategy - have at least two batteries, two tanks, and plenty of spare heads, for emergencies. Stuff breaks, life has little emergencies, you know the drill. I have a Kanger too, and the heads are cheap, get a 5-pack and keep it on hand. A spare charger is also very important - get one for home, one for the car, and another just in case. :)

Wow, it's great to see all the support here! Already 6 replies! I think I'm going to like it here :) It will take some mental adjusting to make vaping my norm but I think I can do it. I am already noticing regular cigs becoming less enjoyable and the cravings are getting less intense. Good advice on the back-ups and on that note, which parts generally need replacing more often? I have considered getting a second battery in case it dies while I'm out and also so I can switch between the tank and the coil without having to unscrew anything. Any thoughts on this?

A second battery is a must, considering how long they take to recharge. I cycle with two spinner types, and I'm considering another. The only parts I've needed to replace (knock on wood) are the heads, but they're cheap.

I think one thing that helps with this is that I have a decades long habit of fiddling with something in my had, while driving, reading, watching tv - the new toys we get with this hobby help in that regard in a big way! And, I mentioned in another thread that I don't get the massive cravings that I get with cigarettes - I talked to a friend about that this morning, and he said that maybe it's other things in cigarettes they add that make the addiction more severe. Now that I'm using juice, it's a completely different addiction - I don't think I've had that many cravings since I started. You know how you wake up, and all you can think is "CIGARETTE NOW"? I don't get that anymore. I can get up, get coffee, shower, etc, until I get the ecig out.

Backups are vital when it comes to vaping. I cycle through 7 batteries, ranging from Twists, Spinners, and EVOD VV's. I always carry a spare battery with me, 2 if I plan on being out for a long time. I suggest getting 2 more batteries to be on the safe side. Once you switch to vaping 100% of the time, and you will, you will be vaping more often, so you will be cycling through batteries much quicker.

Screwing and unscrewing tanks and attys from your batteries creates a lot of the wear and tear on batteries. I have had to throw out 2 batteries because the threads were so worn that I could not attach them to the charger. They still took a full charge, but I just couldn't attach them, so the less stress on the threads, the better.
