Hello everybody,

Just a month into vaping and how i wish i have done it earlier. It's a very enjoyable way to wean myself off cigarettes and now i can't even stand the smoke coming off cigarettes. I started with the istick Pico and now i am currently doing my simple coil builds on my Ammit RTA, i admit that i have to practice more to get my wicking right (about 1 in 3 wicks is perfect). This is quite becoming a hobby as i am looking to get an rda and an RDTA and build on them. Thanks for having me here! Cheers!

Welcome aboard ecf, Tripleheadkick78.
Watch a few YouTube videos on different ways to wick. That will make it a lot easier for you. For me most of the time I do the Scottish Roll, I think that is what it is called. This make it easy to get the size right 95% of the time now. I been DIYing it for about 6 months now.

Welcome Trip! Congrats on giving up. New member here and 3 days smoke free. Still itchy for a smoke but I am resisting with the help of my Endura.
Thank you Gratch! Thats wonderful, its really hard to get off those stinkies but thinking of all those wonderful ejuice flavors, the struggle will become easier

I know what u mean about not enjoying the smell from cigs anymore. It amazes me that I smoked for over 30 years and now, after sometime with vaping, I cannot stand the smell of cigs. I literally feel sick from the smell and can smell it from a mile away. Keep with it my friend, you will be rewarded. ..if you get a chance, or when you run out of cotton, rayon is worth a try. What type of coil are you building?

I will try rayon if i get a hold of it..im currently using muji cotton now..im trying builds of regular kanthal, ss and clapton..really good flavor on the claptons but consume more battery though..

The wicking is the trickiest part for sure, but eventually you will have it down to a science. It's so easy to have a few strands to light or to many and that is sometimes enough to make a difference. The only issue with rayon is using a flimsy coil, if one were to use a coil that moves or deformes easily, rayon is a little harder because you need to use a bit more compared to cotton, in that case you probably have to twist the rayon, or hold the coil as you slide through. Personally I use 26g, so the coil doesn't really move much....good luck my friend

Tanks,RDA's and RDTA all have their advantages and disadvantages. I find that the the type of vaping (DL and MTL) along with the life style can dictate the type of optimum personalized vape equipment one should choose.

Hey welcome to the vapenut house! Great gang we've got here stick around. The Pico is a great unit, should serve you well. Have 3 of them in active rotation myself while a pile of other mods sit gathering dust. I've also been thru the gammut of different rebuildable tanks. Finally settled on a tank with coils designed to be rebuilt. Trapping wire under screws is a PITA I can live without.
Any who... hope you're not dependent on just one mod? Backups fer yer backups fer yer backups is what's preached around here. A great way to get some backup gear is to win them here in the contests and giveaways.

You find it easier to rebuild a drop in, pre built coil then to actuality trap leads? Obviously you still have to make a coil either way, but I would think rebuilding those tiny little coils, in a little coil head is alot harder. But I guess you know because you have tried both, but from the couple coil heads I tried to rebuild, maybe a protank head for my wife, it was a bit hard because everything was so tiny, so maybe the heads your talking about are much bigger an easier...

I guess it's all in what your used to. I rebuilt those protank heads for a long time. Even did some verticals in them. Rebuilt quite a few of those tiny iCare coils also. They were a fun challenge! It's a joy for me to have found a simple drop in head that was actually designed to be rebuilt AND performs well AND REALLY is leak free. A tad bigger than the PT coils. No stripped or lost screws making a $50 tank worthless. No wire broken by a screw tightened a touch too tight. No finding out I can't use 30g wire cuz the screw won't trap it. And yeah I know I could stand on my head with a thumb in my ear while I twist the thin wire 3 times around the screw with my tongue but screw that, I found Joyetechs rewickable, rebuildable drop in CLR coil.

Rebuilding is rebuilding and better then spending on a coil each time, so like you said, it's what your use to.
