Hello, all. I've been perusing the forums over the last two weeks, looking at various work on homebrew mods, and decided that there may be something I can contribute. Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone here for the information I've gleaned so far.

As I'm sure you can tell, my name is Christopher, today is my birthday (nineteen years of life, four smoking; I'm now vaping) and I live in Oregon. I'd describe myself as a geek and inventive to a fault. My main hobby has been building Tesla coils, however I've been overcome with a need for just a bit more familiarity with a vaping device.

I intend on making my first PV soon, running on 4 AA (1.2V) rechargeable NiMH cells in a 4.8V series configuration. The VV I haven't gotten around to building, though I assume it's fairly simple to crank one out with a simple PWM scheme. I'm thinking an SMD transistor and a 555 chip built around a 8-pin DIP socket - no circuit board, for simplicity and size's sake.

I'm not sure about the rest of the design (atomizer and all), but the kinks can be worked out elsewhere.

So, there's my grand introduction. If anyone has comments on design or wants to say 'hi', all are welcome. :)

Not sure that using regular AAs would work though. The batteries we use are high drain batteries. I think you'd s'plode normal AA batteries if you were to try to use them. Probably the reason it hasn't been done yet. That and I can't see the capacity of those batteries being very high either. So if they didn't blow up in your face, you'd probably be recharging all the time. Just my .02, maybe you'll find others who have different thoughts on this.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'll do what I can to get my post count up, but I've always been a bit weary of PayPal/eBay.

I know that the current drain from 'regular' AAs isn't that great, but that's talking about NiCad technology. Here we have an example of the NiMH battery I propose:

Two hours at 1.15A drain on a single cell before 'dead'.

With the convenience, affordability and common use I have of these AA cells, the idea had to be taken somewhere. I use them for my DSLR's external flash, so it's a lot more convenient to have them on-hand than 18650s or bigger.

I've called many forums my home. Unfortunately, they've all since become over-ridden with spam and people who don't care about knowledge (for instance, trolls).

If you find it to be so welcoming, iKenpachi, I hope I will, too. :)

From what I can tell, it's definitely something I'd like to be a part of. Right now I'm stuck with a stock KGO. It's not bad. I dewicked and debridged one of the attys since I don't care for carts and wanted more heat. I got a bit less-even pull, but definitely improved delivery, heat- and volume-wise.

It's satisfying, but it leaves me doing nothing but vaping for ten minutes. I used to use a *ahem* water pipe for my tobacco in order to achieve maximum time efficiency. Efficiency is kinda' my thing. I need something that'll give me about .24mg of nicotine in a minute to be satisfied, and I want it to be variable from drop-kick-your-throat to a mellow, more gentle-flavoured experience.

And most of all, I want to have the *ability* to chain-vape!:grr::facepalm:
