New vaper looking for advice

Hello everyone,

I've been vaping for about three weeks now and two weeks ago, I finally gave up on analogs for good. In that time I've been doing some research on a "long-term" vape setup. I'm currently using an 808 starter kit from V2. It's pretty good, but the consistency leaves a lot to be desired. The TH is a little too much on a freshly charged battery and too little once the battery goes below 3.7 - 3.8 volts. The "comfortable" window is a little too short for my liking (between 4.0 and 3.8 V).

So after some research I've narrowed down on the Vamo. I'm an engineer and I have a fairly decent knowledge of PWM and switched mode buck/boost circuits. So I have a few questions about the Vamo and I'd really appreciate it if people could address them for me:

1. What's the quality of the circuitry used in the Vamo? Is the Vamo built to last? From an electronics point-of-view.

2. What kind of cartomizers and clearomizers can I use with the Vamo? I use cartomizers when I'm out of home (to avoid leaks, etc) and clearomizers when at home. Can someone give me recommendations for good quality cartomizers and clearomizers for the Vamo?

3. What's the most reliable place I can order a Vamo from? I don't mind paying a few bucks extra for reliability and if I can get everything (batteries + Charger + Cartos + Clearos) from one place.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to your replies and to being here!

Congrats on quitting the analogs. As far the durability, the chrome and gunmetal are only plated over brass. So with time and use it will eventually start coming off, unless you baby it. I would get the stainless steel version if that concerns you. As far as built, it's pretty well made. As nice as some of the high priced vv mods out there but at a fraction of the price. But like most electronic devices, it won't last forever and it really shouldn't be too bad. Especially with the low price your paying for it. I think PV's are like cellphones, you use them and keep them for a while but there are always new ones coming out every year with improvements that you will eventually upgrade. The vamo has all the bells and whistles that anyone will need for an advanced PV. The only negative I have is that the 18650 configuration is way too big for me to use out in but public unless I know I'm gonna be in a bad area where I'll need to use it as a weapon . lol I always bring spare batteries with me if I know I'll be out for a while.

As far as devices, I use carto tanks, clearo tanks, and sometimes rba's. Only clearos I can think of that won't fit are kanger t3/evod. Exhalevapors, myvaporstore, and free-cigs have them for a great price. Under $50 with coupon codes for the ss versions. Exhalevapors has the chrome and gunmetal for $40 with a code as little as $36. I would suggest just getting your batteries and charger from rtd. They have great prices there with fast shipping.

Thanks everyone! This is a great forum for new vapers. I've learnt a lot here by "stalking" around for the last few weeks :) I can't tell you how much the posts here helped me figure out this whole vaping thing. Initially, I treated the ecig like a tobacco cigarette. Reading the posts here helped me figure out the "right" way to vape.

Steve:
The Provari is on the distant radar. I've told myself that I'll invest in it during christmas or so if I stay clean (off stinky tobacco) until then :) Well, or at least until my will holds out. I'm a little apprehensive about buying stuff that I THINK I know about, but really know nothing about :) Point in case: I bought a blu ecig kit for a bunch of money. The only good thing it did was to convince me that ecigs CAN be a reasonable substitute for tobacco and to build up my confidence that if I found a reasonable ecig, I could do without tobacco altogether. The blu now just sits there and does nothing :-/ I got tired of charging it every 10 puffs or so! The V2 808 I have now is indeed a tad overpriced, but I thought that the guarantee might be a good thing. But it IS enjoyable vaping on an 808 with long batteries. At least I don't have to pause to recharge in the middle of my vape session!

I'd still appreciate more inputs on the Vamo though :)

Thanks everyone!

Hello metalash, there is this thread in the Vamo sub-forum, for places to buy it http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vamo/397448-great-price-vamos.html .
I bought it also and have no issue and I'll just say it fell on wood floor and outside on the pavement more than a couple of times. One thing to insure and this is not a really big thing, but the early V2 batches had a steel or stainless steel spring that turned to have too much resistance and cause the bottom cap to heat up a little and there were some people saying that caused the battery to drain faster. Nonetheless, ask the vendor if it has the upgraded spring before you buy it, just to be sure.
If you find a good deal for the body my advice would be to take it and get an XTAR wp2 II charger with the spared money because you will need a reliable charge along the way. I bought mine from e-bay. I use the CGR18650CH panny battery which I got from here and I get good battery life, if you plan to use the mod in short mode IMR should be the way to go. Concerning the atomizer I am using a genisis style atty most of the time and I can say it won't sit flush on it because of the raised 510 connector but maybe you already are aware of that. Congratz for quitting cigarettes and happy vaping.
