Hey there, I'm Jenna. So I bought an iTaste MVP v2 from my local vape shop at a good price, and it came with a couple of iClear 16s. I want to start vaping higher VG stuff (optimally 100% VG, though I'm not PG-sensitive). I know that the tanks that came with my MVP aren't up to snuff. I've read a lot about using Protank IIIs with the air-flow controller, so I'm thinking about that.

Any suggestions?

The Aspire Nautilus is an excellent choice in the changeable coil head category. Should be able to handle what the MVP can dish out. The other thing you might want to consider is a re-buildable atomizer like the kayfun, Russian, or the flash-e-vapor V2. Can pick up clones of these for a decent price. Some seem to like carto tanks, which would be another option to explore.

I got into rba's early in my vape journey. Now there is no going back to a changeable atomizer.

P.S. The cat bites.

What makes you think the Protank 3 with air-flow controller will be any better than the iClear to handle 100% vg? All clearomizers use tiny silica string to wick the juice to the coil. 100% vg is going to quickly clog those tiny wicks in no time. Doesn't matter what clearomizer you use, it will be the same results.

Suggestions? You'll have better luck with either a cartotank (the entire inside of the carto is wick) or a rebuildable atomizer using cotton as the wick. I suggest a Kayfun-style rebuildable tank.

Topping even that, a drip atomizer on a bottom feeder box mod (ie Reo mechanical mod). The flavor of dripping (no wicking material) with the convenience of a tank. This is the best solution for 100% vg.

The Nautilus is the best in its class today, but I believe the cost is twice as much as the PT2. Kanger is coming up with a new design that mimics the Nautilus so you might want to wait. if you like a tight draw and don't mind the top coil design the Iclear 30 is very nice and provides very good flavor.
The PT3 with air flow control its actually called Aerotank, and yes its quite good.

I have the Kanger Protanks 2s. I an going to be on the road for a few months or I would immediately get an RBA. I an actually kinda bothered that I can't. I sometimes wonder about the wick system in a PT2. Only two small wicks can get dry pretty quick. I just take long, slow draws. I'd like to move up.
Then get a nautilus or wait a few weeks for the new Kanger design which will be a dual coil, the PT3 and Aerotank, both feature dual coils and are better than the PT2

A tank that I know can handle some higher VG is the Aspire Nautilus, you may want to give that a whirl.

Invest in Kanger Aerobase for your PT2, usually 5-8 bucks in the US, 4.00 on slowttech (Fasttech). It gave my PT2 new life...I also rebuild the coils with 1.5 mm Ekowool, with very thin out Cotton flavor wick on top...no gurgling, I can take hard pulls where my device shuts down at the 10 second rule (MVP 2.0 and VV v3)

Thanks for all the advice! I'll look into RBAs some more, and probably pick up some cotton wicks. Now I'm wondering if I should be taking some "middle step" between my iClears and RBAs -- I guess that's what a Nautilus would be?

Yes the middle ground would be either the Aspire Nautilus or going with carto tanks , check out IBTanked for the carto.

I hadn't even really thought about cartos -- I hardly know anything about them. Thanks!

As someone who mainly ONLY vapes higher VG concentrates as well as 100% VG juice I can certainly vouch for the Kanger Aerotank, and ALSO a cheaper clearomizer would be the MT3 Evod style. I'm waiting on my genuine Kanger MT3's but I got a cheap knock off one in a kit I ordered called the Infinity from Eonsmoke for the portability and it works like I champ! For something so cheaply made I was very impressed and while it doesn't produce as much flavor as my Aerotanks, it certainly does do a great job with flavor AND vapor production! I love that with the 900 Mah battery it came with, I can take it out with my versus my larger mods and stick it in my pocket when I need to! I'm pretty sure you can get the MT3's for between $4-6 dollars. I paid around $16 for my Kanger Aerotanks off of Ebay and even got extra glass tanks so I have been VERY happy with those purchased. The knock off Evod tank I got, came with a short base and atomizer shaft, and the company doesn't offer replacement coils at this time, but DOES offer to replace the whole tank due to it's year warranty as I just found out with customer service (doh!), but that's another story! Anyways, after starting to get a slightly burnt taste using a VERY sugary high VG mix I practially chain vape, no matter, as I like to fiddle I took the metal base off of a cheap knock off protank mini I had purchased at a local shop to try, slapped my Kanger protank replacement coils in them and in less then 5 minutes I was back vaping like a beast!

I also ordered the Smoktech Terminator Tank for approx $12 free ship, because I couldn't find a dripping atty in stock that I wanted AND this carto tank serves DUAL purpose, as it can be used as a standalone or tanked atty or "carto-type" tank but uses it's own unique chamber versus standard refillable carts, so I decided it would be my first atty I practice on and rebuild. Let me say it does a GREAT job at dripping, and YES, there's good reason for all the FUSS! My already great juice became even MORE delicious and I could quickly swap out similar juices for testing/tasting! I also bought a cheap AGR locking tank that PBusardo gives a great review for on Youtube, and I'm now waiting for Boge carts to get here after finally finding some cheap after site after site was "out of stock" on the LR Boge XL stainless steel ones. Sure Vapes had a boxed deal that you could mix and match even if you want, 25 carto's for around 25 I believe, but 10% off of that if you are first time customer, and with a few more things I needed/wanted at a great price I EASILY went just over $50 for the FREE SHIPPING! You can also "like" them on FB for a discount on a separete order, as I'm not sure if you can "stack coupons", however I do ALSO qualify for a Military discount, YAY!

The locking tanks are good for newbies or whoever because you don't have to worry about the tank sliding on you and dumping juice all over the place, which worrying about making a big mess, or it being too difficult was my biggest concern about trying out carto tanks! While you're at Sure Vapes, go ahead and pick up the drip tip refilling tool to take care of your o-rings and slide the tank out easier while getting you closer to that $50! Not only that, but the AGR has a fill hole and I just ordered 50 of the 5 ML syringes, BD even I believe, with the angled "blunt tip", (which isn't so blunt), WITH caps for $10! These are a MUST for priming your cartridges and for EASY, MESS FREE tank fill!

Also Fasttech, from whom I just received some REALLY cheap extra 18350's for my Innokin Cool Fire 2, which I LOVE btw, after about a month later lol, but it's cool, I already picked up a great deal on some Efest's on Ebay, but anyways, FT has a pretty sweet looking Patriot Clone RDA with 3 for only $6.84! So for those prices, I don't MIND messing around with my first rebuilds and if something goes wrong with them. I also picked up ogranic cotton, bamboo wick and a cheap EGO style pass thru battery that is VV/VW, and reads out the atty ohms, just for the purpose of testing, and got a good deal at, YOU GUESSED it EBAY lol! For my Kanthal wire, I got a decent deal on 100ft of 27 gauge for $6

Just a word to the wise, I have 3 time now been attempted to be burned on vaping supplies which isn't cool at all! Even in this great community of vapers, it would seem as if there are STILL unscrupulous vendors/suppliers! Once I received an empty mailer in place of the 5 ego/510 adapters I had ordered, and was accused of trying to scam $12 out of the THOUSANDS I've spent on Ebay for ALL kinds of stuff MUCH higher then that, but they DID eventually send them, but not without LYING on the feedback, which if I would have read there's this could have been avoided, as they have done this before evidently, and had lots of probs compared to my 100% score. Another time I received fake Kanger TS3's, a whole 5 pack of them that don't perform well! I could have returned them but chose not too go through the hassle although after trying a couple in retrospect I should have! Lastly I received a VERY OBVIOUSLY USED Innokin VV/VW 3.0 battery in the complete starter kit when EVERYTHING else was NEW and the entire box had been sealed! I had even made sure to order from a seller with 100% feedback! Long story short, he claims it came to him that way wholesale and that he wasn't aware and after extended correspondence I believe him and he made it right ASAP! Bottom line, you can get GREAT deals on vaping supplies off of Ebay for trying out new things or just adding to your collection, just be careful and make sure to stick with sellers with %99.9 ratings and higher IMHO! I know this has been long but just wanting to help fellow newcomers with any experience I might have and can contribute! Good luck!

Yes, carto tanks are great for taste and ease of use. I've tried most BCC and found myself back where I started: IBTanks for out and about. I very much love my Reo (very very simple build) and incredible taste. For me, it is all about the taste and ease now. Enjoy your journey! It's ok to try one of each.
