Hello!

I have spent the last few days perusing the forums here and have definitely developed a better understanding of everything vaping related... but I am also mind-boggled!

I really wish I had come across this forum before we purchased our first starter kits! We got our 3-piece "minis" through Prosmoke. Pretty pricey... but they had the most consistent reviews that I had come across.

I found the newbie quiz so I will answer those questions before continuing.....

1. How many cigarettes did you smoke or are currently smoking per day?
_________I have smoked for 20+ years. Most recently about 2 packs per day. Since starting to vape a month ago, I am down to about 9 "analogs" per day on average!

2. Did you smoke ultra lights, lights, full flavor, filter-less, roll-your-own or cigars?
_________I smoked menthol light 100's

3. How important is it for your electronic cigarette (also called a mod, PV or APV) to look like and feel like a cigarette to you?
_________Right now, I like the pen style cig because of the similarity to a regular cig. I might consider changing to the eGo style in the future.

3. Do you like things big, bulky and durable or do you prefer small and compact?
_________ I definitely prefer smaller and compact.

4. Which shape is more pleasing to you to hold: something cylindrical or a box shape?
_________ Cylindrical

5.How long would you like or need the batteries to last in a typical day.For some this an 8 hour shift or could be 16 or more hours depending on your lifestyle.
_________ I would definitely like the battery to last more than the couple of hours we get with the little ones... but our lifestyle does allow us to recharge when we need to.

6. How much effort do you want to put into vaping? Do you want something that requires little effort or are you more of a tinkerer? Generally extremely active lifestyles or someone who's constantly on the go doesn't have a lot of time but the reverse could be true for you as well.
_________Simplicity is preferred.

7.Do you think you would prefer tobacco, menthol, fruit and candy or dessert flavors?
_________ Menthol - minty, fruity with a mint. Right now I enjoy a candy cane flavor.... vanilla with mint.... cinnamon sometimes. My tastebuds are shot and I find that the mint or strong spice flavors are most satisfying.

8.Do you think you would like a warmer or a cooler vape? (A warm vape uses higher voltage or lower resistances to make the vapor warmer in your mouth while a cool vape works just the opposite) Also let us know if you have sensitivities to cold or an aversion to hot liquids.
_________Cooler

9. What is more important to you, throat hit (that feeling of weight or tickle hitting the back of your throat when you inhale) , vapor production (the amount of vapor or steam produced by your device and/or e-liquid) orflavor(The intensity of the taste of the vapor)? Again its okay to have more than one answer but please list them in order of importance.
_________Flavor first... throat hit and vapor are tied. I started refilling with 100%VG

10.Which is more important to you, price, quality, ease of use, or reliability? Its okay to have more than one answer just list them in order of importance.
_________ Reliability... price/quality..... ease of use

11.How much are you looking to spend on your initial purchase or upgrade?
_________Already purchased starter kits.... spent too much ($100per)

12. Have you looked at any other accessories such as clearomizers, cartomizers, tanks, pre-filled cartidges etc and do you have any questions about how they work or what they are?
_________Yes to all of the above... will ask the first question in a bit :)

13. Would you feel more comfortable vaping (popular term used to refer to inhaling vapor from an electronic cigarette, mod, PV or APV) in public or do you prefer to do it in private?
_________ I am comfortable keeping to the same habits as when I was smoking. I don't take my e-cig into the stores but like the idea of sneaking a vape or two when in a movie theater!

14. Whats your favorite color?
Pink-----blue-----silver

15. Do you have any disabilities or other difficulties that might have a bearing on your choice? ex: some peoples wrists aren't strong enough to hold a big battery mod or their eyesight doesnt allow easy filling of ejuice (the liquid containing nicotine and flavoring used in electronic cigarettes, also referred to as nicquid or e-liquid)
________ not really

16. Have you thought about securing backup devices in the event of failure or purchasing extra batteries?
_________Yes

17. Do you think you would prefer a battery that starts at 3.7 volts and gradually drops in voltage and vapor production as it drains or would you prefer the voltage to stay the same throughout the life of the battery?
_________ I prefer consistency

Now for my question..... I am looking for a new 510 style. We might upgrade to an eGo but for now, the 510 is good for us. I have the now obsolete 3 piece design... battery-atomizer-cartridge. I need to find a relatively inexpensive system that allows me to refill the cartridges with the dropper bottle.... NOT a needle. How do I know what will work this way and what won't? I am so mind-boggled with all of the suppliers.... and cannot seem to find this specific information.

Thank yo
u so much!

Can you post a link to what you bought from prosmoke? I want to see if we can find any cheaper cartomizers for you. They take you to the friggen bank with those 3 piece systems. If you can just buy cartomizers it would be cheaper for you in the long run. I am not sure exactly what batteries you have tho so I don't know yet. Lots of people get over priced units to start with but the important thing is you found vaping and IMHO that is priceless :)

I just looked at the Prosmoke site and I think those are 808 unsealed batteries. You should be able to use the cartomizers from smokless image on them. That would make it so you wont ever have to buy those 12 dollar atomizers in the future. You don't want to overfill the cartos because e liquid can get into the battery threw that little hole where it connects to the atty or carto. Hope this helps and good luck. Also I forgot to welcome you to the ECF:)

A good upgrade for you would be a Volt X2. The battery should last a bit longer while sticking with the cig-alike form factor and providing you with a regulated voltage. They also use 808 fittings. You can buy an 808 to 510 adapter from madvapes.com for 3 bucks so you can use 510 accessories as well.

Best way to describe that is you know that awesome hit or two you get with a fully charged battery? You get that all day long, throughout the life of the battery with regulated voltage.

I almost forgot too.....Welcome to the forums :)

It would likely just never fire again. Battery safety is important tho. I had a huge mod battery fail while in my purse and it was a mess. I don't think anyone has ever been harmed by a cig sized battery that I have heard of. Most of the problems happen when people are stacking batteries or not using common sense like using batteries that cannot handle high drain on high voltage PVs.

If you go on youtube and search how to fill cartomizers you will find tons of videos. Search for the condom method. Also you can just drip into them from the bottle of liquid. Just do a few drops and let it soak in a min and do it again. It should hold 18 or 20 drops when filled all the way.It will kind of look like a slushy when its full. If you over fill it and it's flooded(gurgles and gives too little vaper) Just hold the cartige over a paper towel and blow threw the mouth end. That will sort it out quick. It's all a little overwhelming in the beginning but soon all of this will be 2nd nature.

I was afraid to say that zapped. I had the halo G6 when I 1st started out and I tried just that and nothing would fire with the adapter. I tried everything.

Good to know. I gave the 808s up 3+ years ago so my knowledge is a little rusty. Maybe someone else can chime in and let us know if these work? I certainly wouldnt want to recommend something that would leave someone high and dry, especially not when theyre starting out.

Thanks for everyone's input! I went ahead and ordered some parts from Smokeless Image as suggested by Dana. My husband will use the new stuff and I will use our old starter stuff until it is toast. I'm excited to see if he likes it! I watched the Youtube videos on refilling the cartomizers so thank you for the suggestion! I did also use the e-coupon found on this forum to get 15% off my order... I hope everyone has a great day!
