So I ordered my Blu's, received them about 8 days ago. Of course, if I'd done more research (like the research that I did while waiting on the blus to arrive lol), I probably would have gotten something else anyway.

My first impression with blu was 'mmm ok, I *might* be able to quit analogs with these, but not as they are right now'. I went around a few rounds with blu tech support, did more research, finally ended up modding and refilling cartridges, and have now been analog free for 4 days now.

However, the Blus aren't going to cut it. I need something more. I don't want to fork over the money for one of the big expensive hybrids, however, so I'm leaning toward a 510.

My questions are: Will the 510 do me (I was a 30-40 a day smoker)? What brand 510 should I get, and where should I get it... I would like a decent starting package with charger, pcc, a couple batteries and attys, but don't really care about the juice (I already have 3 30ml bottles here).

Thanks everyone for your time, sorry if the post was a bit long.

Although I use mega's, I would start with a standard 510 kit and a pcc. Maybe some extra atty's. All anyone needs really. As soon as I got a pcc I got rid of my standards for some megas. But I did have a chance to use it and it was awesome. You can keep it small and carry stuff around in the pcc. Mega's are rather large. If you mod the carts right you don't need to take liquid with you on the go. A pcc will charge via usb overnight, and on the go it will charge your batts 4 times a day.

Thanks for the advice, all. I'm checking into vapor station. It seems like a good deal even with the $12 shipping. At first I wasn't too thrilled about the 3 different battery types, but that'll give me the opportunity to try a few variants and decide for sure what I really like.

A USB passthrough is going to be a must for me, considering all the time I spend at computers between work, college, and play at home.

It is not just the device that will get you by, but the liquid as well. Make sure you get at least 24 mg, or possibly even 36 mg considering how much you smoked before. A good starter guide for the 510 is here -

Sorry, you have to cut and paste... I don't have enough posts yet to do hyperlinks. You might check out Nhaler or Cignot for prices too. I order from Nhaler and have always gotten great service. A lot of other people praise Cignot highly too.

John, I've been analog free for 2 weeks now, and really haven't had but one moment or two where I wish I had one, and it quickly went away.

I bought a Mega kit from Totally Wicked (Think their 30% off sale started 12/5?) Bought 5 extra Atty's, 10 blank carts, and a USB pass thru.
COULDN"T BE HAPPIER!!!!!

I bought quit a few different juice selections, all 24mg or higher, and have been really digging on the Choco Mint Banana Float from DIYFlavorShack!
Espresso from Johnson Creek in the AM, and staying away from the tobacco flavors as why would I want any reminders of the "old days"?

The USB pass thru really makes home/work vaping so nice! Leave my 3 Batt's charging for mobile use only. Vaped the entire afternoon at the KC Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium. :)

Good luck on your efforts to quit analogs, well worth the vaping learning curve to achieve that goal!

I got my 510 from Randall @ myPVshop.com

Discount Coupon Code: IVape10 will save an additional 10% off your entire order.

However, while I do like the 510 for it's great vapor production, it is not my model of choice. I personally prefer the RN4072 Penstyle and the RN4062 e-Cigar. Both have very large cartridges and thus require less refilling and both have very long battery life - especially compared to the 510.

Just a little more food for thought.

I'm gonna go against the 510 currents. Here is what i recommend:

Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarettes | E-Cigs from Smoore -

1 x M402 SMART PCC kit
1 x USB Passthrough
10 x Atomisers
100ml to 260ml of E-Liquid (recommended flavor: Marlboro)
10-20 blank carts
2 -4 Manual Batts (either M401 or M402 size)

You won't need anything else and you should be ok for quite a while. The Mseries are better overall performers than the 510 imho. When you are at a place with loud noises, change to your manual batts. The USB Passthrough is a great piece so don't forget this in your order no matter what. Atomisers are only $6 a piece when ordering 10pcs. The liquid amount you wish to order is your choice. There is currently a great deal for 100 ml and 260ml so you decide.

Hope this helps. :)

Welcome JohnVJones.

Your story sounds exactly like my story. I might return my Blu. I don't know I may keep it around for the novelty.

I did order a 510 from somewhere else as well. Its in the mail now so I can't really say more.

Don't let the Blu turn you off too e-cig's. I am sure a 510 model with a larger battery well work much better. At least thats what I've picked up from lurking about the forums.

Thanks for everyone's input. I went with the 510. I received my VS 510 about 35 hours ago. After the initial break in period of the batteries, I haven't touched my Blus since. I'll probably keep them, though, since I *did* violate their warranty by refilling carts and whatnot, and they aren't exactly horrible.

The 510 is much more satisfying, and the two flavors (Djarum and Rum & Spice) that I ordered with it are equally cool, though my favorite is still Totally Wicked's tobacco flavor. It has a very clean tobacco flavor that reminds me of my Tops smoking days a couple decades ago haha.

Question on the 510s though: I get a very odd 'chemical' (I can think of no other way to describe it) flavor from them from time to time, regarless of the atomizer or juice or battery that I am using. Is this because they're brand new atty's, or am I letting them get too hot?

Thanks,
John
