Hello! I'm Bat and I'm new, both to vaping and the forums. I bought a Genesis 510 two weeks ago, which is okay, but battery life is appalling! I hadn't discovered this forum, nor the UK Vapers forum at the time, so I didn't know what I know now! Tomorrow I'm getting a Riva 510 from liberty flights, which offers better battery life (I think). What I'd like to know is if it is compatible with eGo accessories, such as the dual coil cartos, and also tanks/XL stuff? Which leads me to the next question - which is better, LR cartos or tanks? Actually, could someone explain tanks in a bit more detail for me?
Sorry for all the noob questions, please forgive my ignorance!

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, everything will be compatable with your riva. Your Riva is an ego (different brand name) and everything is compatable with it.

I prefer LR cartomizers- either boge 2.0 or dual coil cartomizers over the tank. I had issues with the tank due to leaking and atomizers dying. Tanks are little plastic containers that you fill with juice (contain no filler material) and they fit on your atomizer that you place on your battery. The plus with tanks is that you can see how much juice you have and they're fairly easy to fill. The cons are sometimes they leak or clog up.

Tanks - a new invention few people use and fewer like. They use a special Ego-T tank atomizer with a spike in it. The spike pokes a tank. Then you can use a syringe to put juice in the tank, put it back on the tank atomizer and vape. Many people have problems with leaks and lack of flavor, plus all the usual atomizer issues of degradation and needing cleaning and still not keeping your flavors totally separate since they are sharing an atomizer. You can try them by buying and Ego-T atomizer and Ego-T tanks and a syringe.

BTW - don't put the LR cartos on the small 510. Slim ecigs should use stuff 2.5 ohm and up. I use the Boge 3.0 ones so I can move them between 510 and Riva 510. The 2.5 ohm Boges (if ever in stock) would also work for that but would use the little 510's charge up even faster. I actually recommend learning on the standard resistance (which are more forgiving about singeing when not damp enough) and then trying the LR's. A gold paint fine-tip pen is good for marking things (you could mark the standard res cartos so you know to not use the unmarked ones on the slim 510)

When you get your Riva, label the screw-in end of the cable on both side with a big R or something to make sure you don't accidentally charge the slim 510 in it. The fast charger cables of Riva and Ego can damage slim batteries.

Thanks everyone for the advice - I've got some LR Boge cartos coming in the post with my Riva, so I'm glad I made the right choice! Special thanks to dormouse for that tip about the charger - I hadn't thought of that! Very grateful. Will look into the dual coil cartos when I have used up my Boge's. Thanks for the warnings about the tanks!

Looking around the site, I'd love to try some of the mods. Unfortunately I a)don't live in the USA so have less options available to me b)have limited funds and c)am HOPELESS at making things myself, so won't be able to fashion my own. Sigh. One day.

I personally use the ego tank and love it. Yes I had leaking issues in the begining, but I bought the soft silicon bottom replacements for the tank and away went my problems with leaking. I don't have any issues switching flavors because you just blow out the atty when you switch. So many people are agianst the tank system, but I vouc for it. Been using it for 6+ weeks. No atty issues, and no leaking issues since I got the soft bottoms. I have used cartos, and actually perfer the tanks because of ease of use.

There is a good mod maker in the UK - at least one. Dave's Mods I think and he only sells to UK.

Mods database and each has a flag indicating its country
Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database

Here you can browse by country of origin - I see UK, France, Italy
Search e-Cigarette Mods by Specs | e-Cigarette Mods Database

I have a couple of little 3.7v mod boxes (one is clear blue with a bright blue LED). I got them in ECF Buying & Selling and there is a UK section I think - yes and a Euro section. Don't know if there are mod sellers in those but worth a look. When you have more posts or replies (non-spammed, 5 and an hour wait) you can PM and buy stuff in the Buying sections.

I don't think people are necessarily against tanks, but enough new people do have issues with them that I would never feel comfortable recommending them to a new person in case they do. The tanks and tank atty are on sale quite often so if someone has been vaping for awhile it's something you can always try. There have been a number of people that got tanks with their first pv and couldn't even use their pv becasue of tank/atty issues and have been put off by vaping.

I'd say try it! But get a box of cartomizers too in case you do have a problem or wait until you've been vaping for awhile and know what to look for or what to do if you do have a problem.

I also have an issue with suppliers that are actually selling the bottom replacements. Obviously they know there are issues with a product they're selling, why not include the soft bottom replacements. They know they're selling a product that many people have issues with.

carpedebass, that looks BRILLIANT! Now to find a UK supplier! That preferably doesn't charge too much postage, as I keep ordering stuff in batches, so have to pay postage each time! Oops!

Thanks for the list of mods, that's really useful. I wish I was good enough to make my own, but I am truly useless. I'd like to try a box mod - would this give me a better or worse experience than an eGo?

Thanks!
