New vaper with a question

Hi everyone I'm pretty new to vaping started three weeks ago and put down the analogs and haven't picked them up since.

I just have a question I've been watching videos on diy e liquid and I've saw some where the ppl are using all vg except for the little bit of pg found in the flavoring and some using more pg like 50/50 mixtures. are there any kind of advantages or disadvantages of one versus the other. I'm going to be purchasing the products and I just want to make sure before I decide which route I'm going to take.

Some people have found they are allergic to one or the other. PG is more common and is thinner. VG is thicker in consistency but produces more visible vapor. PG allows more of the throat hit from nicotine to come through. VG mutes the throat hit from nicotine to a degree. VG also mutes the flavor to a degree. If you were using a tank cartomizer set-up, you would definitely want a 2 or 3 holed punched tank instead of a single hole punched tank if you were using all VG due to the thickness of the liquid.

pg = flavor
vg = vapor
That's about all I know ... some folks are allergic to pg.

..and some react badly to too much VG! Chest, throat and sinus congestion and so forth. I'm one of them. Also I find that VG tends to impart a sort of sweetness to the flavor. But it does make lots of vapor, if that's really important to you (or you are allergic to PG..only about maybe 3% of the entire population is). PG gives more TH and carries the flavor best. It also is basically tasteless, so your e-juice recipe can really shine through.

VG is a little (very little) cheaper and a bit easier to buy since it's at pharmacies etc. I get my PG at Amazon. Some get theirs at Tractor Supply. There are places online that carry both. It's out there...you just have to look a little.

I am also new and so far I have found I like the 60/40 to 70/30 mixes. Mister E-Liquid even has a special MEL 67/33 mix that is also good. Its all subjective though. Most e-liquid sellers will custom blend almost any mix you want. I suggest to try a few different mixes and find one that sits well with your style.

As a beginner I do not want to spend a ton of cash "learning" so I found that MtBakerVapor has good juices and at good prices(~$4.99 per 15ml) and with $15+ order they throw in a 15ml sample! So you could try 4 different pg/vg mixes(60ml total) for like $15.97! (use coupon code "freeshipping" for well, free shipping!)

Good luck and Vape On!

You said 60/40 or 70/30 is that pg/vg or the opposite

I'm using an eGo battery with a evod clearomizer/tank

Usually PG is listed first. So 60/40 would be 60PG to 40VG. The most common mix is 70/30 or thereabouts. My DIY is 85/15 due to my sensitivity to VG.

Pg/Vg is the standard way most people explain their mixes.(from what I have gathered) So 60pg/40vg and 70pg/30vg.

Thanks for clearing that up

PG by itself seems to be a little harsh, and dries the throat, adding VG smooths it out. How much you want to smooth it out is all about personal taste. I mix mine 50/50, but that's just me YMMV.

Do not confuse "harsh" with "throat hit", they are two different things.

Thanks a lot I appreciate the info

But the more you go towards the 50/50 mark the thicker your juice will be. In a lot of tanks,cartomizers and clearomizers that might not be a good thing.

I think I'm going to start with a 70/30 blend or 60/40 and just experiment from there to see what I like
