Hey! Just thought I would say hi. More to give my hands something to do.
This is my second day totally smoke free.
18 years smoking everyday - pretty heavily. Roll-ups the majority. And ended up on way more than 20 a day during lockdown...I can normally puff away at least 5 before work starts. I've been seriously talking about quitting for a few months and the other day just had enough. Instead of buying a baccy pouch, I bought myself one of those Vype pens.
It did me OK for a day - but struggling now. No throat hit. Plus I must have spent about £20 on refills already...they don't last long.
Today I ordered a ePuffer Titan X. Apparently it feels just like a cigarette which suits me down to the ground. And some 20mg juice.
I'm actually ready to punch someone.
Thinking about actually getting some cigarettes until it arrives....
I suppose my question is....are vapes a magical solution. Once my lovely new vape arrives, am I really safe from wanting to rip the heads of anybody who talks to me?
What's your experience? :)

Welcome to the ECF Nick!
Your choice of gear could be unsuitable for your vaping style/need.
You might need to find the right stuff, just for you. The Titan X may work.
Sounds like you need throat hit, higher PG eliquids will provide that or a Nic-Salt nicotine eliquid.

If you just gotta smoke, smoke! You're trying and that really does count.

Melly, don't worry if you may be taking in "too much" Nic. You will know 'cause the nic will tell you!!

I started off with 48mg nic, that is almost half the bottle I used being almost 50% nicotine. And this was before Nic-Salts!!!

I have for the last 3 years used 3mg nic, and now and then I will boost it to 5mg for a bit.
I'm also a very heavy vaper with 12 devices in front of me that I switch off constantly!

Welcome Nick...
Vaping is a different way of getting your nic....it's not cigs...
Need a little time to find the best device and vaping style for you cause there are many....
and about the nicotine level u start high and your body will tell u to go lower u may feel dizzy or not well...make sure u stay hydrated tho...
Cause depends how much e juice u vape
There are many benefits to vaping than just the harmfull chemicals and tar u are leaving behind...
Also takes a little time for your body and mind to get used to it...
At first I had some symptoms that I thought was from vaping but was actually waiting cigs...and some of those maybe they were just in my head..
Just don't punch anyone for a couple of weeks and u gonna be fine...
Vaping is great but first u must be committed to leave cigs behind and then it will work...
Why wouldn't u leave cigs behind...
Cigs are awful now...the smell on hand and clothes is awfull.
The car smell...the house smell if u are indoor smoker...
Your sense of smell will improve...
Mouth hygiene..
And many more things...
Enjoy and chill

Thanks! You're totally right. Just fed up of the smell, the mess, the needing to go outside in the bloody rain!
I'm actually doing a bit better today - and I do think the cigarette need is all psychological because I am getting the nicotine.
The Titan X should be arriving tomorrow. Got it for its ability to switch between MTL and DTL - and lots of reviews saying it's great and comparable to box vapes (at least for a beginner) and the MTL function replicates cigarettes well. I'll let you know how I get on with it!

Just need to take it one day at a time.

For me personally it took only 2 weeks to actually notice a difference.
Started coughing less when i woke up in the morning, food seemed to taste better, house smelt much better as well and when walking i could actually walk longer without getting winded.

I use to smoke 1 pack and half or two packs a day, cheap tobacco too.
Pipe tobacco, bags of 100 grams and spent countless hours making them with that little machine thingy.

Anyway,i started nice and easy with a device like this one:

veco-solo-vaporesso.jpg

Easy to fill and when the flavor got funky i then changed the coil, easy peasy and it made my transition from cigarettes to vaping much more easier.

After about 3 months i needed something more so i went to my local vape shop where i got my first mod SWAG 80w and a new RTA.

For now just try to find your ideal nicotine proportion so you don't go back to cigarettes (or punch the wall hehe) and from there take it one day at a time.

FYI: Click on the top right of the page on your name, then click on ''personal details'' and put in your current location (country wise i mean).
That way if you need any help in locating a product people here can give you different advice depending on where you are at the moment.

Apart from that not much i can say buddy, stay strong and keep at it.

cheers

This device is great for a begginers and not only ofc...that doesn't mean u have to change to something else....if it makes u get your nic fix and u enjoy it there is no reason to for something else....
there are people that vape 10years now or something and many use very old devices cause it's what they like...
About the cost of vaping maybe need some money at first but then it's usually cheaper than smoking...
And after u settle with vaping u can start to mix your own juices that I my opinion it's not but deal when u get used to it and not only u save looot of money but u know exactly what your juices are made and u can adjust the flavour thickness of juice...
More pg can give throat hit and flavour pops more....and more vg it's easy on throat and produce more clouds...
I guess u vape 50/50 vg/pg cause it's the classic recommended for new vapers and smaller devices

No advice for you but I feel the same today 12 days no smoking I’m using the blu vape pen which is ok for me but not sure if I’m consuming to much nicotine used to smoke 15 a day lights

I read some other new vaper post. Congrats on the switch.
As a 9 yr vaper - May I suggest bringing your attention to the cocktail of chemicals your not ingesting?
That is generally the off feel a smoke feels during the transition, but is associated with the new vape experience, and all the unknowns.

Getting a bit too much nic is like having 4-5 more expressos than one needed. Body will respond. Stomach nausea, headache, increased heart rate, perhaps anxious. But they're all minor and short lived.
Drinking lots water and not being on empty stomach is good.

I'm personally of the opinion that even if one is getting 5x the amount of nic from vaping than their old smoking, they are still headed in a far healthier direction. Nicotine has gotten a bad wrap - it has similar characteristics as caffeine, just that its always been associated with combustion (smoking)

And there is a big difference in nic of cigs and nic of vape. In cigs - untold billions have been spent on research to find other chemicals to compliment nic. This chemical cocktail changes the delivery of nic to the brain. With Vaping - your just getting pure nic. Generally how I put it is a cig is a shotgun blast of nic but fades quick (ya want another) , where vaping it takes longer to get than level, but will stay longer.

I highly suggest visiting a local vape stop when you get a chance. Happy 2021 vaping.

It's OK to smoke and vape until you're ready to switch 100% to vaping. I bet most vapers have done that.

I suppose my question is....are vapes a magical solution.

Not really. You still have to quit smoking. Making the switch is easier for some than others. But you can do it, we all did. I think the fact that you have 20mg juice will help. That's not extremely high but should be a good start for someone who smoked a pack a day. If you think 20mg is too weak, you can always try 24mg.

Today I ordered a ePuffer Titan X. Apparently it feels just like a cigarette

Hate to break it to ya (depending on what you mean by "feels like a real cigarette") but the Titan X is far from cigarette size and it's hard (made of metal and plastic/glass). Looks like it's more the size of a cigar. But that's OK because most vapes that are worth while are much bigger than a cigarette. That's something you have to get used to, that and the button. That's part of what you have to overcome if you want to successfully switch. I had a hard time with the idea that I had to press a button at first, but I adjusted.

The Titan X arrived today, plus 70% PG and 30% VG 20mg tobacco flavoured e-liquids, also from epuffer.

It switched between a 0.4 and a 1.0 coil, but sticking with the 1.0 for now for MTL vaping. Haven't tried the 0.4 yet but may give it a go tonight just to try it out.

I LOVE it! Having gone a few days on that crappy vype pen, it felt good. I got that 'just off a 12 hour flight and lit a cig for the first time as soon as you're out the terminal' feeling.

It's 50w power, but you can't adjust it. It does it automatically, which I don't really understand...something to do with the battery and coil, I guess.

Was expecting a harsher throat hit, but it seems just enough. It's actually a pretty solid piece of kit. And it's nice looking and feeling....the kid thought it was a 'sonic screwdriver' though so will definitely need to keep it out of reach haha.

The liquid was pretty solid too, although wish I had got nic salts. Falvour is OK - to be honest, wish I'd have got a couple of non-tobacco flavours as well as I think it's the sensation I miss more than the taste. But hey-ho.

20mg nicotine seems to work well for me. Could have done a bit lower even.

It's been a breeze today.

Yes, it depends on the coil. The 0.4 ohm coil may give you a better throat hit but the vapor will also probably be noticeably warmer (which you will either hate or prefer - everyone is different). The flavor from your juice should also be more pronounced.

The voltage output of that battery is going to range from 3.5-4.2 volts. It'll start at around 4.2v but dwindle to around 3.5v before it stops working. At that point you'll need to recharge it. But you don't have to wait until it shuts off to recharge it. If the vape gets too weak for you to enjoy it, that's you're indicator to recharge it.

With the 1.0 ohm coil, you'll be vaping at roughly 12 watts to 17 watts.
With the 0.4 ohm coil, you'll be vaping at roughly 30 watts to 44 watts.

I say "roughly" because those devices usually have a high amount of voltage drop. In actuality the wattage ranges above will be a little lower.
