Hi and welcome...
Yes it's absolutely doable.
I slowly swapped my cigies for vapes a few years back.
Few tips...
If you are a 'real' smoker, like a pack a day one, make sure you have a liquid with plenty nicotine. Say 18mg+ or 'high'. The biggest change for me was the fact that I was 'satisfied' after smoking 1-2 cigs and vaping did not seem to give me that till I switched to a higher nicotine level. Not sure what gear you have but I started with one of these pen models and that don't produce that much vape so you need a high nic liquid. If you have a modern box type with a big tank, 12mg might be enough.
Second tip would be to not force yourself too much. Try to vape as often as you want a cig but allow yourself that ciggie a couple of times a day. You'll notice that after a couple of weeks, you find yourself buying less and less cigs till you reach the point where you can say, no more.
Last tip, make sure you have stock! Try a few liquids till you find one or two you like and buy plenty of it. Plenty = enough to last you at least twice the time it takes you to order more. Also make sure you have spare coils plenty so you don't run out all of a sudden. If within your budget, even make sure you have a backup ecig & tank. All this to prevent you need to go back to cigs, just because your local vape store has no stock or you're stalkig the mailman waiting for your order.

Hi i just started vaping to try and stop smoking cigarettes. Idk how to feel about it just yet only tried one flavor and hopes to try one that really gets me to vape over smoking. Has anyone done the switch successfully and have any beginner tips???
The day I started vaping 18 months ago my daily cigs declined from 25 to 5 and stayed there. I decided to leave it at that while I learned how to vape. Six weeks later I was sure I'd never stop vaping so I tried for zero cigs and succeeded. I know someone who was a dual user for 10 months but finally stopped smoking. If you don't stop vaping you'll eventually stop smoking. A few days ago I bummed a cig off a coworker to see what would happen. It tasted awful. I feel no desire to have another. Vaping is a superior experience if you give time to make the transition. Later, if you learn to rebuild and mix at home, easy jobs, vaping is free for practical purposes. My cost of ingredients for a year supply of eliquid mixed at home is $30.

It's probably the easiest way to quit smoking EVER

get your setup correct with the correct amount of nicotine and you won't want another stinky again
I agree with the above. :thumb:

I was a 30 year smoker who had tried to quit multiple times with the nicotine gum, patches, prescription drugs, and even hypnosis. None of those helped.

Then I tried e-cigarettes. I made the transition over a weeks time, and haven't even touched a cigarette since. That was four years ago this month!

I do recommend that you get started with the right gear, and especially with the right e-liquid. Here's a couple of blog articles which should help you make your decision:

Hi and welcome. It can be done. It does usually take some perseverance, however, as finding the right combo of gear and juice is usually done by trial and error, as vaping is very individualized. What gear have you selected? And if you will go to a vape shop, most of them will let you try different juice flavors.

I'd imagine that most who fail to quit smoking are those who simply don't get enough nicotine in their vape.

So probably the most important aspect. I'd say use too much and go from there.

There are getting towards a quarter of a million on this forum, so be positive! :)

I needed some good kit (not gas station plastic cig-a-likes) but I did actually manage it without too diverse a liquid collection. Tobacco, RY4, RY6, Citrus, Forest fruits.

The custards and desert flavours came later. Some folk get rid of the tobacco favors ASAP. I don't think it matters. Today, I took licorice tobacco and strawberry lime on the road with me.

Welcome to ECF! I was a 30 year smoker. If I can do it, anyone can! A few tips-
Vape like you smoked. If you went outside and smoked, go out and vape. (Even though I vaped inside, I would still go out and sit on my porch like I did when smoking)
When I would have a bad craving, I would chain vape through it. (might want some low nic juice for this- lol)
I made a list of all of the reasons I wanted to quit. (the awful smell, health, having to go out in the freezing cold to smoke, wheezing myself to sleep every night, etc) I would read that list often.
Hang out on the forums
But most importantly...Find support wherever you can. We are all behind you and will help as much as we can!

My first day after I bought my vaping equipment, I had one smoke and it was horrible. Burned my throat and tasted horrible. I never smoked again. But I still had cravings. They're natural. We're here for you! :)
