I don't have a replacement coil right now. Going out tomorrow to get one before work to talk to someone at the local shop, which to be honest I'm dreading. The customer service so far is not great.

I don't think mine is supposed to have a string or wick....someone on here linked me a pic which you can see if you read back in the thread, which is approximately my whole set up, the only difference I can see being the o-ring on the coil, I believe because mine is the mini. But what do I know? I'm just hoping I don't have to spend a ton of money on fixing/replacing anything. I work retail. : (

I wish I was more help. Let us know what they say at the vape shop! (I do not have a vape shop I can visit here everything is online so I risk every purchase I make lol)

Stuck with analogs til I figure out what to do. This thing is a week old, how could it possibly be the coil? (I've been googling). Guess I CAN'T blame it all on the boyfriend.

1st of all, buy some disposables from white cloud or something so you don't smoke those analogs. no need to.

Coils can last anywhere from 1/2 a day to several weeks. Sometimes it's the coil, sometimes the ejuice (dark colored and sweet tends to clog coils faster).

Over the counter coils are hit and miss which is why some people use RBAs and build their own.

At the very least, you should always have an extra clearomizer as well as a few packages of extra coils to go with. And of course, a 2nd Spinner battery in case yours dies or gets lost or something.

Yes, there is a certain start up cost to vaping, so at beginning you will spend more.

Personally, I would never give a dual coil (protank 3) to somebody vaping on an ego spinner type battery. You really don't need dual coils, it will drain your battery fast and you will go thru a lot of juice.
Get some single coil Evod clearos or a mini protank II or something. Single coil for an ego battery is better. JMHO
(which is what pufZepplin was saying in his previous post)

Yes, I'm back again, with more questions.
Just when I thought I had it all figured out...just call me needy. I AM NEEDY. I want to start using this thing with no problems, and I'm getting frustrated by how many problems it's had.
Luckily, I've learned everyone here is lovely and nice. : )

I am just getting so frustrated. Was feeling super positive about this, and I'm just getting more and more confused and peeved.
I'm realllllly hoping the answer is a new coil, boom, done. But how do I KNOW when the coil is burned out?

sorry to hear you’re having troubles
and IT’S NOT THAT BAD (doom & gloom)
it’s just you ‘fouled’ up your coil
mini PT3 is a pretty good tank
just get some Kanger bdc (bottom dual coil)
suggest a 5-pak of 1.8Ω (better for your spinner batt)
- Kanger Dual Coil Atomizer Heads (enclosed wick) - 1.8ohms
- Kanger ProTank 3/Aerotank/T3D/Evod 2 - Dual Coils - 5 Pack 1.8ohms

install a new coil and you're back in bizzness !
- - -
I think you’d be better off with a single coil (bcc) over a dual coil (bdc)
this is what I use and they do Great on an ego VV battery (cheap too)
- Smoktech Glossy RBC (10% Off) - Smoktech Clearomizers - Smoktech - Clearomizers Tanks
- Smoktech Aro, Tumbler, RBC Coils - Smoktech Coils - Smoktech - Clearomizers Tanks
- Kanger Single Coils - Kanger Coils - Kangertech - Clearomizers Tanks
a back up battery
- Kanger IPOW 2 1600mah - Kangertech - eGo Batteries

Race wrote it just as I would have...

I know it is hard to sift thru everybodys DIFFERENT thoughts
but if/when you choose a path, master it and the analogs will go away

keep it simple, cheap - so it works

what I tell ya, the links, They Work, it's what I use

GOOD LUCK ! keep asking (glad to help)

:)

Thanks again everybody for the help. I'm going to order some new coils online tonight, maybe a new tank, and definitely a back up battery. Will those Kanger single coils work on a mini protank 3? The website doesn't have it listed as one it will work with.

When I looked online for replacement coils (because I have no desire to go back to my local shop), it says I HAVE to use dual coils. Is this just not true?

Also, with that smoketech glossy rbc....is the coil with the tank? Like, when the coil burns out do I need to get a whole new one? They're so cheap!

that is whats so cool about the RBC - cheap and work GREAT ! (nice and light too)
they are SINGLE COIL and the kanger single coil (bcc) ALSO fit inside them

the bdc (dual coil) & the bcc (single coil) look almost identical
but are just different enuff they CAN NOT be traded around

mini PT3 is a bdc (dual) and the bcc (single) will NOT fit

the RBC is bcc (single) and a bdc (dual) won't fit in a RBC

•miniPT3 dual only
•RBC single only

athousandyears is right,
it is cheaper, at MFS, but Sweetvapes has the ultimate ego battery
that iPOW 2 (1300 or 1600) is great
(just shopping all in one place what I'm thinking)

suggest:
1 - 5 pack 1.8Ω kanger dual coil (since you have the mini PT3)

2 - RBC (coil included)

1 or 2 - 5 pack 1.8Ω smoke or kanger single coil

1 iPOW 2 battery (you'll be impressed)

- Kanger IPOW 2 1300mah - Kangertech - eGo Batteries

:)

I went ahead and ordered one of the smoktech rbc tanks, a pack of replacement single coils 1.8, and I'm going to have to wait til payday for the back up battery.

Ok!! I like projects. : )

Ordered from SV.

Currently using Bomb Tobacco from Cravin Vapes. Started with what they sold to my bf for my christmas present, pegasus milk. They gave him 22mg, which needless to say was WAY too much for me, and I also hated the sweetness. But from what I've read/who I've talked to, the more I vape, the more I'll begin to really appreciate the flavors. I like this bomb tobacco currently, because I'm still so addicted to the analogs, and the tobacco flavor kind of 'recreates' the experience of the analog for me a bit more. I really don't like anything sweet/vanilla/candy flavored, even outside of vaping. I am, however, super intrigued by the coffee flavors, and making my own.

OH! I forgot to ask this. Is there HARM in continuing to use this coil, aside from the taste or burning of the liquid? As in, can I damage my unit continuing to use it? Last night, I but a TEEEEENY bit of juice in, because I can get about a 'cigarette's' worth before it starts to taste too nasty.

nopie, shouldn't hurt a thing

I'd tell ya to tear it apart and dry-burn it (but it's your only coil)

BUT, like before you go to bed,
you could take coil out of mini pt3
rinse it VERY GOOD in hot tap water
(right down the middle tube so it pees out bottom)

allow it to dry (while sleeping)
and maybe (maybe) it might make it a little better
put it back in (allow saturation time) and see if it helped

here is a good reviewer and a good watch about
how the clearomizers function (and a preview of our future project)

naw, you won't hurt nothing
(just your feelings about bad taste)

so you say you rinsed it very good, then let it dry - cool !

so looking at rebuilding a coil didn't scare you ? (super)

it IS a cool hobby and you can make coils to your liking

+ add cotton instead of the silica wick makes a BIG difference !

I think I may smoke a bit with it tonight with the coil as is, just for experimentation purposes, and see what happens, now that I know I can't really break anything.

Just set it back up after rinsing everything and letting it sit overnight. Hasn't improved much. Still a big throat burn, and no flavor....but if it's ok to smoke it this way, it's still getting me a nicotine hit, and if I take baby hits, the burn isn't that bad. Ordered with quick shipping, so hopefully it should get me through. Smoked analogs all yesterday, and let me tell you, YUCK!
