So. I had take apart my vmax to resolder the center pin wire and now all it does is restart, constantly. Any clues as to what could be happening?

I'm thinking maybe the center pin is grounding out on the center hole. The silicone seal is in place but it's ripped. Anyone know something i can use as a replacement?

Your bottom spring could be messing up...try taking it out cleaning everything real good (spring and inside the cap). If that dosen't work take the rubber ring off the center pin and wrap it in one layer of electrical tape. You might have to break the solder and sand everything down clean with a file and resolder.

The day I received the Vmax i had an issue with it not making a connection with the cartos or maptank. So i emailed the store and said I wanted to return it for a new one. The store said they tested it before shipping it and it worked fine. They also suggested that the carto pins need to be adjusted. I adjusted the pins on all 5 cartos and maptank and they still would not work. So I posted on here and someone suggested adjusting the pin on the Vmax. I did that once and it started working. So i used it for about a week. i removed my maptank one day to clean it and refill and when I put it bank on it didnt work. So I tried adjusting the center pins on the tank and my cartos again and still nothing. I emailed the store notifying them of the issue again. they said to get a adapter or adjust the center pins. so I tried adjusting the center pins on the cartos one last time. No luck. So i adjusted the center pin on the vmax. which is when the solder on the pin broke. so i emailed the store and told them the center pin came out. They then told me since I broke it i couldnt send it back. which I fully understand. So since I was screwed I decided to take it apart and resolder it. which i did. It fired up once and i put a carto on and it fried the carto with one push of the button and since then it just constantly loops the power up sequence. So i believe its dead.

Instead of messing with it anymore I tossed it in a drawer and ordered a Provari. Sucks I lost $80 bucks but now i know not to mess with the center pin and be a little more assertive with stores when I want to return something lol.
I am also thinking of ordering a RAtank.

I just can't resist --- :2c: Threads like this and people wonder why Provari is so popular?

(and I'm NOT trying to start a fanboi debate -- honest)

Carry on and keep helping---it is what is Great about ECF.

Provari's had issues just like this when they first came out as did just about all other non mechanical mods.

It was good of you to point that out, but the failure rate of most other APV's like it are at about 25-1 ratio at the moment, (if not greater), so they must have gotten something right along the way....

Indeed they did. The Chinese just don't want to take the time/money to perfect one thing. They would rather spend it on making new things like the ZMax. I's pretty much a money racket...the more new things they make the more people buy.

Hey, I had issues with my center positive connector pin being too low and not always making contact, sometimes mine would just F2 error or 123 restart. Id say yours is shorting out. My V1 Vmax was alot better built than these SS V4's. My V1 is still going strong, 3 months of vaping it all day every day and not one issue. My SS V4 went ok for about 2 weeks.

I fixed mine by removing the old silicone/rubber sleeve and wrapping the center pin in thin electrical heat shrink tube instead. Also put a little "O-ring" around the center pin. Been great since.

Apparently the ego type Vmax's have center post issues according to a couple of forums.
Normally, devices improve with new iterations - Vmax versions just a swap one problem for another.

Someone just posted an interesting interesting statistic on the Vmax sub forum, the Vmax has 30% fail rate - pretty damn high imo.

The wires from the center post and ground are also way too low a gauge for the output of this device.

My v4 vmax is acting up...

I get the f2 error with the vivi nova tank but I found that if you hold down the firing button while you screw the tank on you can tighten it all the way and you won't get a f2 error... My problem is everything else I try to use does not vape but they vape with my other pvs. It is very weird I thought maybe the vmax shorted em out but they still fire... only thing that works on mine is the vivi nova 2.5 tank with the 3.2 ohms which vapes excellent but I like to use other clearos, cartos? any one know of this problem... it makes a buzzin high freq sound when I try to use the other cartos, tanks, clearos?

well it seems to me the center post is the problem here... I am not messing with the piece I have an adaptor i will try that... lol I do not want to blow away money if I don't have to...
derek

There are 4 revisions of the SS VMAX, as I have the ORIGINAL SS revision which is a straight 510 connection Red LED and has a Satin and Semi-Polished finish(Which is NOT a fingerprint magnet, as the other 3) and is heavier in weight than the other 3! I HAVE HAD NOT ONE PROBLEM with it and have ran multiple tests using different cartos ranging from 1.5 ohm to 3.0 ohm and using BOTH variations of the Nova models and NOT ONE F2 error period!
