Hey guys, I've been using cigarettes for ten years now and my cousin introduced me to e-cigarettes at Thanksgiving. He had a Vapor King. I decided to try it and I liked it a lot. After doing quite a bit of research and reading these forums, I decided on a Volt. I got it several days ago and have been using it exclusively for four days now. Not a single "analog"!
Now for the questions:

  • Is it best to charge my batteries when they are completely dead to extend the life of the battery?
  • I would like to get some blank cartos and refill them myself (Vermillion River maybe?). Can I still use my old-style batteries with the hole in the middle? If not, do I have to get manuals or can I get the new sealed style?
  • Is Smokeless Image e-juice considered high quality or should I try some other companies?
  • Will the Halo and Bloog cartomizers fit right on my Volt batteries and give me the same performance? If so, does any one company have higher quality e-juice or better flavors?
  • Is it worth it to get the PCC from Smokeless Image? I have heard they're coming out with a better one.
I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions later.

Somewhere out there
You can use Halo G6 cartos on your Volt, and I actually prefer G6's to Volt cartos because the air flow is a bit too airy on the Volt cartos for me, so G6 carto is better in my opinion. But love the sealed auto batts of Volt. Halo has good juice too, but I enjoyed several of Volt juices like 555, Ry4, Desert Joe, and another I can't think of off hand. bnrk

I have had the Volt for about 2 weeks and I really like it. I also picked up some of their auto batteries, which are not sealed. To save them, when re-filling cartos, I take the carto off the battery completely, refill and then test to make sure the bottom of the carto is not leaking, by placing it on a napkin or on my little finger. I dab at it until it is dry and then screw it back on the battery. Not too much trouble to save the battery, I think. Haven't really had it long enough to really know if that works; but I just know I killed 510 batteries in the past before trying that trick.

just for future use.

I like these on volt batteries CLEAR AND EASY TANK

But my favorite is the gotvapes fluxomizer. FLüXomizer CE2 Cartomizers - GotVapes.com

The fluxomizers can be finicky. you need to play with them a bit. Some people love them and some hate them. The clear and easy tanks are plug and play, very easy to use and good flavor. I like to see my juice and don't like poly fill cartos.

I'd get either manual or the new sealed batteries. I eventually went through 4 volt batteries because of leakage. I'm rough on batteries, if you're careful you should get better results than me.

Check out vermillion river when you want to try some new juices, They are GOOD.

j...congrats on the quit!

I will give you my $.02 on your questions:

Is it best to charge my batteries when they are completely dead to extend the life of the battery?
Experts say its best to recharge at about 20% which is about when you first notice a slip in power/hit

I would like to get some blank cartos and refill them myself (Vermillion River maybe?). Can I still use my old-style batteries with the hole in the middle? If not, do I have to get manuals or can I get the new sealed style?
absolutely, but as prev poster said, ALWAYS remove to fill and gently blow through with a napkin and dry bottom before putting it back on

Is Smokeless Image e-juice considered high quality or should I try some other companies?
Juice is a matter of preference. Try many companies and flavors and find what you like best! Reviews that liken liquids to others or describe in detail will help. Bloog (alm same as Volts) RY4 is still my favorite, period, and I have tried more than I would care to admit in front of my wife! Again, its all about preference!

Will the Halo and Bloog cartomizers fit right on my Volt batteries and give me the same performance? If so, does any one company have higher quality e-juice or better flavors?
I know Bloogs will...same cartos. Never used a Halo cart...decent Tribeca liquid tho.

Is it worth it to get the PCC from Smokeless Image? I have heard they're coming out with a better one.

A PCC is good if you spend time without access to USB power...otherwise I never use my PCC as the direct USBs seem to charge better and less finicky.

Is there anyway to reuse a cartomizer with a different flavor? There's a few in my sampler pack I didn't like. Can I clean them out somehow and fill it with e-juice I like?
Thanks for all the advice. Those clear cartomizers look pretty neat.
Cleaning cartos is a necc skill...will save you a bunch! I use one for 4-5 days avg or until they get tight draw and/or a drop in vapor n flavor and its cleaning time. Then back into service. I have some that have gone many lives. My method works very well and is fast...ie not having to wait a day or two to dry and cleans the coil and filler way better than any other way I tried. I recently did a step x step for a member that asked...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizer-reviews/230072-kanger-510-horizontal-coil-cartos-myvaporstore-com-2.html#post4700680

The most important carto advice, hands down...KEEP THEM WET!! Top off as soon as the flavor/vapor drops. Running them dry will always mess em up...it will flat out kill a vertical coil like Boges and even with the far superior horizontals (imho) it can make em taste bad, hurt the filler etc and require a refurb.

Again, congrats on dumping the analogs and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. This place is loaded with knowledge, experience, shared opinions and great people and will help you with about anything vaping you could ever imagine.

1 - Although most batteries are smart enough to cut out before they get low enough to be damaged, I think batteries last longer (more months) if I charge them earlier than than when they cut off

2 - If you fill/refill cartos with auto batteries I recommend getting a spare battery. The Vapor4Life manuals also have a hole though some seem to have it blocked from the inside. The "sealed" autos are not sealed - the hole is moved to the side of the post so they are safer from being damaged by a small juice leak. In any case I recommend a spare battery and make it a manual so you can use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip on it to test new juices.

3 - SmokelessImage juices are 80PG/20VG and decent juices. And my 2 main vapes are Vapor4Life WOW juice which are also good juices and my 2 are thin and clear and leave my carto stuffing clean. the worst thing for cartos are dark, opaque or cloudy juices that drop a bunch of flavoring sediment in the stuffing. I use juices with 20% VG or less and I avoid all juices that seem to drop flavoring sediment.

4 - I think Volt & Bloog cartos are identical and Halo cartos may also be identical. V4L cartos are not the same - their WOW cartos are a bit hotter and hotter at the lips (I use a plastic or delrin drip tip as mouthpiece)

5 - yes it's good to have a PCC for when you are away from power. I also recommend a real charger for at work and I have 2 chargers at home. I use my spare battery late-night and morning and charge the other two during that time for the next day

6 - You can top off with any compatible flavor you want. And you can TRY cleaning them and drying them (drying is necessary for them to work again).

Regarding the PCC: The current "slider" is a decent little one - holds 2 batteries or 1 batt and a couple cartos (but only with the caps off). Same size as an iPhone. The new PCC is to replace the "mega", which holds 2 batteries plus cartos with the caps on. Will be bigger than the slider, but not sure of the exact size since we've only had 1 teaser picture so far that didn't show the whole thing. It will also cost quite a bit more than the slider. So it depends on what you need from a PCC to decide which of those to get.

Both Halo and Bloog cartos will fit and work the same, they are all the same style. As mentioned about, you should only refill them when they are off the battery.

SI juice is of average quality - not bad, not exceptional.

Congratulations and good luck on your vaping journey!

I cannot answer the majority of your questions, however for the Halo and Volt "stuff" . . ..

I actually started with Halo "G6" and while I was quite taken by them, I found the Smokeless Image "Volt" to be the same, however just a little more reasonable cost wise, and their sales are outstanding and quite frequent . . . .
BTW: on a personal note - I really like their new "Sealed" Batteries . . .

As for the Cartomizers, they both Halo & Smokeless Image work well with each other and even seem to be the same to me, however again Smokeless Image Cartomizers are more reasonable, especially during their sales and have lasted me (but I am not "vaping" full time as other are, so take that into consideration) . . . The only thing I wish Smokeless Image had that Halo does - is the little plastic case that comes with the Halo cartomizers . . . Cleaning both are as easy-peasy as any other cartomizers of this type . . . And both hold about the same amount of "Nic-Juice" . . . As someone else mentioned, "KEEP" them wet if you want them to last you ! ! !

Now, for the PCC, I did get the original "MEGA" with my first order from Smokeless Image. And while I really liked the size and the convenience of what you could carry in it, especially since I do go away for over a week at a time or can be out of my place all day - the original "MEGA" PCC is/was not consistent with charging - nor charging the batteries fully . . . Which, as I understand, they have fixed with a NEW "MEGA v2 PCC" that they have "Designed" themselves to have a replacable internal battery (Cell phone style - I think) . . . It is supposed to come-out within the next couple of weeks and is a little more expensive than some others - again with the upcoming and always present sales the Smokeless Image has they should be affordable to most people (of course that is dependent on your personal financial situation) . . .

I hope this information helps . . . BTW: when your post count get up there, you can go to the Smokeless Image thread and learn a lot more there too . . . Also, there are a lot of Friendly people, you just might like :)
