There is also a VP2, VP1-901 and a 501 will be out soon. Here is some info from Vaprlife...

Hi from Vaprlife.

For now the VP1 can only be supplied with unprotected batteries,

and you just need to be cautious.

I have a sample 10440 protected battery coming, and once It's approved we will integrate it in the VP1, but that could be weeks.

Right now I know of no source for a protected 10440 li-ion battery, so hopefully we will have one soon.

Thanks

Jeso

I really like the form factor (and those cool lights, of course) of the VP1. However, the time between charges of the 360mAh 10440 AAA size lithium battery doesn't blow me away.

I'm wondering: Will the VP1 work with AAA 1000 mAh NiMH Batteries? That 1000 mAh does blow me away*!

Thanks!

* Since it doesn't say one way or the other about protected vs. unprotected, I assume that these also are unprotected. What's the chance that this would literally "blow me away"?8-o

I think those are 1.2V 1000 maH batteries that you're looking at, so no - they wouldn't work.

I think that the 360 maH may be the max you're going to get in a AAA rechargeable that runs at 3.6V. They sell some that are rated at 500 maH, but everyone says that they're really 360 maH batteries that are improperly rated. ;-)

Duh! Thanks for pointing that out ... and for the tip about "500 mAh"!
