So simple to drop that resistor out by increasing the ohms on the trimmer used. Love it.
The resistor is there to keep the max voltage at spec for the chip. These boards are made/designed for 5.5V max. The resistor in series is not there to simply increase the ohms of the trimmer. With only the trimmer you have no over voltage protection.

It's actually quite simple to do it right.

Thanks Emus. Let me clear this up.I did not change the pot to raise the voltage only to simplify the build. Is it hard to add the extra res? No, dose it clean up the circut? Yes. I understand that there is no over voltage protection.But I'm not worried about that.My fav volt is 4.2 and if some how it did get turned up past 5.5 I think I will notice.
