I just checked, I made two one gallon jugs at the same time one is at 1010 and one is at 1050?
I used about 1/2 cup more sugar in one but forgot to label them, everything else was the same.
Yup. The gravity reading tells you how much sugar is in the solution. As the yeast eats the sugar, burps out CO2 and poops out alcohol, that reading will fall as the sugar is munched up. It's SCIENCE!!!
