I know it's kinda late to mention this but in the future, this type of issue is exactly why I immediately turn off the HVAC system after a power failure ... I want to be the one turning it back on after power has been restored.

YUP that was one of hubby first comments ...he was sayin' he runs to turn ours off when the power flashes !

& I've seen it ...he does !

I have frequent power outages out here in the boonies and it never crossed my mind to turn off the AC. Computers, DVR, TV's, yes, but not the furnace/AC breaker. Thank you my informative friends, I just learned something that coulda cost me big repair $$'s.
