Yes, I have 3 retired Greyhounds Yukon, Dallas (littermates) and Clint. I spend a lot of my free time helping out the rescue group. It's one thing I'm passionate about, find rewarding and is just plain fun.

I agree, regardless of breed, there are so many wonderful pets out there that need a home...adopting a homeless pet is fantastic.
I have so much fun with the dogs waiting for a home, it's not work at all. You just can't have a bad day hanging around those lovable goofballs.
Since we are sharing our fur kids I had to let y'all see my sweet Mattie Marie. I love that sweet smiling face. I adopted her from a shelter shortly before her time was up. Even now it breaks my heart to think what would have happened had I not found her in time. She has been with us for 6 wonderful years so far.

When I was working for a cable company, I went out on a trouble call to a house where a guy had rescue greyhounds. Now and then I'd look over and see one peeking around a doorway at me, but it would always disappear when it saw I noticed it. After about 15 minutes I heard a little noise behind me and I stood very still with my hands at my sides. The dog that had been peeking at me slowly crept up until it's head was underneath my right hand, then it slowly raised it's head up until it made contact... then it looked at me and smiled shyly. I pretty much melted. The owner said that she rarely ever even came out when strangers were in the house and was surprised that she got brave enough to do that. 
I've always felt you can tell everything you need to know about a person by how they treat animals, small children and people who's job it is to wait on them.
