One of the baby birds fell from the nest and now has just been sitting on our porch all day... anyone know anything about falcory?

Yep, I do. And that ain't one. Looks like a robin, about 10 - 12 days from fledging.

Poor little Robin (I'm pretty sure). I have a bit of experience in this department. Trust me, the mother bird is most likely aware the little guy is on the ground, and mom will feed him on the ground too (when no one is around). I've witnessed it twice over the years mom will help the baby on the ground. This little bird has all of it's juvenile feathers, so it's not as tragic of a case if it where an hatchling. Just my 2 cents.
