This is turning into a wonderful week. Bad family news and now I get to go spend $450 getting my brakes done tonight.
Sorry to hear cc. If you were close to me I would offer to help. I cant believe how much they get to charge for some of these brake jobs when it costs so much less for the pads and it usually isn't that much work to put them on. (assuming that's all your needs lol)
Well, I got a quote from them when I got my tires last fall and he said "If you can get it back in within about a month, we can probably just turn the rotors and replace the pads."... and then my dad had his stroke and we went through all that so getting my brakes done had to take the back burner. I'd actually forgotten about it until I heard the metal on metal grinding sound on my way home last night. *headdesk*
Ouch man. Rotors can get expensive. I have to put new ones on my wife's car at some point but I think I can get them at AutoZone for about 30 each and after you take the wheel and caliper off (which is the lug nuts plus 2 more bolts) they come right off...
I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm not gonna trust my skills on anything that could kill me if I mess it up. I'll stick to replacing wiper blades and headlights and stuff. Don't wanna be another Jake Stonebender since I don't know where Callahan's Place is.
Should I feel bad I had to google that as Im not familiar with it lol sounds like a very interesting read though...
And yea it best not to mess with ride critical components unless you are comfortable with your skills and know what you are doing
