I love it when laziness works in my favor. I had a whole tub of stardust heads I haven't bothered cleaning and have just been accumulating since probably February. Well I tossed them in some peroxide overnight, changed it the next day and threw the container in the sonic cleaner. Normally I just run a 20 minute cycle because the sonic cleaner needs to be used for work. This time however I got in a hurry with other things so I just kept turning it on again. It ran for at least three hours. I figured I'd probably destroyed a lot of them. But nope, out of around 30 heads, only one died, and more amazingly mostly they were all clean like new. Only three of them even needed dry burning, and those were ones with oddly coiled heads anyway. I'm going to have to schedule longer cleaning cycles in future.

So wait you put the container of peroxide with the heads in it in the sonic cleaner? So basically sonic cleaning in the peroxide? And I am assuming the cleaner just had regular water in it? And is it a heated kind of cleaner? I have been wanting to get one but everybody I've talked to tells me to get the heated cleaner which is 50 bucks more than the unheated one (which puts it well outside my budget lol).

Would you believe I almost got locked up at the art museum today they had these little rooms that you walked through a door to get into then there was a wooden rail so you could stand there and look around, well I put my hands on the rail and as soon as my fingers got past the edge of the wood an alarm went off and four guards came running, needless too say we had a guide from that point on and she was kind of nice.

For a ballpark... a 15 gallon glass demijohn runs about 60 bucks and a 20 gallon plastic primary fermenter is about $35.

Now... if you have the lid that came with it, with the holes in it... it would be worth much more than that for making pickles and sauerkraut!

Didn't come with a lid when I bought it

you need to ask Erin....but I think the peroxide is replace with distilled water before going into the sonic cleaner....and I'd be willing to bet she has that expensive sonic cleaner because she uses it for medical things

Well hopefully she will see that and post a responce LOL I was just trying to figure it out cuz a friend has a heated sonic cleaner he got at harbor freight and I was going to mention to him if it was better to clean the stuff in the peroxide or not. If not then there isnt really any reason to do anything other toss the heads in the cleaner basket in his regular water since thats all he uses it for anyway (oh and for steeping juice) and he changed the water after whenever he does anything other then his juice. Also I want to know for when I eventually get one ;)
