Totally off subject but does anyone here know anything about Manual Transmissions? I have a 2007 Pontiac G5. When I first got it it shifted gears smoothly. Now when I shift you can kind of feel it going through the gears (if that makes any sense). Nothing is slipping and no other problems. I called a station today to see if they check gear or transmission oil (whatever you call it in a stick). They automatically said it has to be either a leak or my clutch is going out and there is no way it could just be low on the oil. Anybody know if that is true? If this guy might be duping me I don't want to take it in there.
I am in no way a car expert, but my first thought was the clutch....either needing replaced or is kinda slipping. BUT without actually feeling what you feel, it's just complete speculation on my part.
There is always that possibility but there is no slipping when I use the clutch. I am open to there might be something else but if there is such a thing as just low on transmission oil then I know this guy might be duping me

Some things that cause that are old gear lube miles? clutch slave or master cylinder going out or needs fluid and air removed from system OR other can be worn or broken first check fluids clutch master is on firewall driver side most of the time
I HATE mechanics that automatically try and screw ya just cuz a female does the asking

While your car is a bit newer than I'm use to I did spend a lot of time growing up and latter working in my grandfather's auto & transmission shop so I'll offer my opinion.
Even on the more simplistic standard transmissions saying it must be one of two possible problems (both requiring shop servicing) does not sound like a place I would take my work to.
Transmissions are very complicated devices. If something "feels" off about the way it's working then there is probably a problem or at least the beginnings of one. My suggestion would be to go to a dedicated transmission shop (or 2 or 3) and gather a few more reliable opinions about what the possible problem could be. I could be something as simple as an easy (and cheep) adjustment inside the transmission or possibly the clutch, or it could be one of the first symptom of a more serious problem that would be more cost effective to to deal with now before it gets to a failure point and leaves you sitting beside the road someplace.
My main point is that on a complex device like a transmission, someone offering only 2 options just doesn't seem like they are qualified to even offer an opinion. Go to a qualified specialist or 3 and get a really useful suggestion.
Rant is over, just really really dislike service personnel that just toss out worthless advice without even looking or probably even thinking about the real problem.
