I ordered two 50ft rolls of Flat Ribbon Kanthal, just wrapped my first coil with it. I used the 0.8 x 0.1 mm W/ 8 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit came out to 1.5ohms. Put in on my KFL W/ cotton wick and filled it up with a new batch of juice I just made. So far I'm pretty impressed with the flat wire, it's heating up much faster and bout choked me on the first hit....as Muddy Waters said "Another mule is kicking in the stall"

I'm beginning to like this tinkering, home-made juice making and whatnot ~

I was never a big fan of the ribbon, but glad it's working well for you!

Granted I made my first build yesterday so only time will tell. So far I see no reason to dislike the performance of the flat wire but rather see an improvement in flavor. Having said this and everyone's mileage may vary, the performance one gets is only as good as the build....I should know because I've made some crappy performing coils along with some pretty good ones.

With the flat wire I overlapped each turn with about 1/4 of the flat wire width on top of the prior turn and torched it several times to set the form. I don't have to tell anyone that too much cotton can ruin the performance of even the best build/device ever made.
