Hello ECF. New here, been asking questions to Google about my new vape and it seems like every time I asked the answer would be here, so I figured that if I am going to start vaping full time, I should probably make an account here to set myself straight! So, a little background on myself: I've been a tobacco smoker for 10 years. I just recently had my daughter and so I was looking for an alternative to smoking, and vaping seemed like a good alternative. I bought a starter kit from Unique Cigs (the Firefly kit [https://uniquecigs.com/products-page/firefly-products/firefly-kit/]), while I was deployed overseas, and I managed to completely stop smoking for about 15 days. Well, I guess I didn't do enough research and didn't buy new heating coils for it so the vape stopped being potent about 5 days after use. So, the vaping worked for an alternative to smoking. When I got back stateside, I went to the local vape store looking for a new atomizer, but they didn't have any that would fit my device, but they did have the KangerTech Protank 3, so I bought it, and I am still having all kinds of problems. First of all, it doesnt fit right so I have to leave it slightly unscrewed in order for it to contact correctly and still have draw from the bottom. It seems to leak at random in to the middle of the tank, etc. The coils seem to burn out really quickly, I've been through three in two days, and they work great at first and then the amount of vapor produced diminishes.

I can deal with keeping this setup for a backup, but it will not be suitable for every day use. I realize that this is probably a pipe dream, but I am looking for something a lot more reliable. I would like something that hits hard, variable voltage, I don't want to change the heating coil every day, or every week for that matter. I am cool with refilling the tank, but I would like for it to be a lot less messup that my current rig. Form factor isn't that big of a deal for me, but I hit it a lot, so I would like a larger battery than what I have (the one I have lasts for around 8 hours.) Does this ideal ecig exist? Sorry for the noobishness, I haven't gotten super far in to researching this, I am sure you all can point me in the right direction.

Sorry to tell you this, but all of that is about par for the course when talking about the ProTank 3

this is not for everyone... it can leak and is not very travel friendly. but its great for vaping around the house. setup can be a pain at first but once you get the hang of it, its not problem.

i like these ^ single coil cartos way more than i liked the original duel coils they sold with the kit a year ago.

you could use this tank and cartomizer on whatever 510 mod you want really. totally wicked sells a few VV mods. you will spend a bit more with TW but they have great customer service. and dont sell Clone / knock off crap.

Thanks for the reply, Dave! Ive never gotten vapor as thick as what you're getting from your Octopus, even with my brand new pens. I can't tell from the video, but I'm not even sure if I am hitting this .... right. Do you smoke yours like a regular cigarette, or more like a hookah? I am hitting mine like a cig, suck the vapor in to my mouth, inhale, blow out. Is this the way you're hitting yours?

well its really up too you how you smoke it. i take "lung hits" meaning hold the device to my lips hit the power button and just start inhaling.
some people like to pull the smoke into there mouth then inhale, or not. it really does not matter most of the nicotine is absorbed into your mouth and throat some does reach the lungs but its not much.

that device (ego octopus mini), with the .34 twisted kanthal coil is the best performance i could come up with for around $30. i spent a long time perfecting the build to get it to crank out vapor like that. then my buddy said hey you should put that online, people would like it. so i did.

the ego octopus mini needs a new coil every 4-7 days with heavy use. once you do it a few times you can knock out the rebuild in like 10 minutes.

also if you try to take lung hits on your protank 3 you might run the coil dry and get a nasty burnt hit from it. so start slow until you know what its going to do.

In the cartomizers, do you have to replace the heating coil or no?

the "carto" is a self contained system it has a wick and coil inside. it will get clogged up with gunk then you toss it out.
the way you replace it is, unscrew the whole thing from the battery pull out the old one put the new one in and your done (takes like 10 seconds) this video will explain. he shows how to "punch a carto" the ones i suggest come pre-punched so you will not need to do that. but it will give you a good look at the carto tank system and how to use it. All depends on your budget for your rig,

If you dont want to keep spending on new coils head you will need to learn using RBA and RDA, rebuildable atomizer, rebuildable drippers, the best flafor you will get ever is from dripers those are not tank just an atomizer that you drip few drops and got a few vapes, they are pretty good when at home or the ofice, they are rebuildables or disposable,

If you dont want to spend too much money i will recomend the innokin svd, can be used with several battery configurations and is reliable, sturdy, feels solid and is variable voltage / wattage, got money to spend? Get a provari

For dripping atomizer you can search for the hh.357 and or a rebuildable wich you can build your own coils like (in the cheap side) an igo-l or the trident clone, got money to spend? Get the atomic rda

For a tank system i would hands down recomend you the Kayfun Lite or the Russian 91% those are not cheap in the $100 range, but you can find clones that work like the originals for +- $40 this are the easiest to rebuild and the best flavor tank system,

A cartotank is also a good choice with disposable cartos..

See, this is kind of what I want to avoid. I am in to vaping - not the maintenance. I know this kind of sounds like a pipe dream. I don't mind spending a little bit of money in the beginning to get what I want, but I want to drip the juice and smoke it. I don't want to be taking the rig apart every couple of days to replace the coil, etc. I've tried the disposable cartos, and I hated them. I like that I can choose my own flavor with the juice. They don't have anything where I can just drip and go?

haha, okay, perhaps I didn't state that correctly. I am not in to the idea of a DDA. I want to be able to fill my tank and have it last me all day.

a carto tank could do that for you. but the cartos need to be replaced every so often depending on how much you use it. changing a carto is really really easy. it just slides into and out of the tank.

I don't want to be taking the rig apart every couple of days to replace the coil, etc. I've tried the disposable cartos, and I hated them. I like that I can choose my own flavor with the juice. They don't have anything where I can just drip and go?

No no no,,,, rebuilding a coil is very easy, in fact the kayfun lite is so easy you get done in 10 minutes, and if you build a microcoil with cotton you just pull the cooton out and slip a new cotton string.

The hh.357 is not a rebuildable, and is very good just drip and vape can be washed by boiling in water, and they last for a good time..

Right now i can say every tank system with replacable head coils are very good, my protanks are good and my aspires are good, the problem is the coil heads , i dont know why maybe is QC but seem like no matter what brand the coils are always a hit and miss, from a 5 pack half are always bad coils,,

Even the cartotank you will get bad cartos like coil heads,

Trust me watch some pbusardo videos, looks for videos of how to rebuild a kayfun lite you will see they are very easy, just stay away from genesis style tank if you dont want to go into genesis collage,,

The innokin SVD and provari i told are the devices itself, variable wattage and variable voltage, you just adjust power up and down to your liking

well the Boge cartos from Totally wicked i suggested earlier can produce quite a bit of vapor on a VV mod or ego twist. these cartos last me about 4 days of heavy use.
the tank is a bit pricey compared to other carto tanks, I know. but its glass and seals well, never had it leak at the o-rings. i have had leaking issues with other carto tanks.
