Fight for Your Right to ‪#‎vape‬ - Weekend Action Plan for Saturday, 04.05.14
___
In case you haven’t heard, these two up and comers in the ‪#‎NY‬ State Senate are looking to make their stars with nico-prohibitionists:

Kemp Hannon - @kemphannon
Tony Avella - @TonyAvella

The bill they are proposing (S6939)would ban the sale (and giveaway) of nicotine liquid in the State of ‪#‎NewYork‬. And this isn’t some cleverly worded work-around that “accidentally” bans eliquid - this is a full frontal assault.

Here is the link to the proposed bill on the Open Legislation Site:
S6939-2013 - NY Senate Open Legislation - Prohibits the sale or provision of any quantity of electronic liquid - New York State Senate

- Read the bill.
- Let the hate flow through you.
- Then, scroll all the way to the bottom and participate in the discussion. Please mind your “Ps & Qs” and tear this thing to shreds.

If this were to pass, would it prohibit the online purchases mailed to NY? No that I would be happy if this passed but it appears to have loopholes. It specifies for use intended for eliquid, if the product was marketed as not intended for use then they could simply change the labeling. Likewise it states any chemical or solvent used in the creation of the liquid would be prohibited for sale if it was it's intended function... PG, VG, distilled water, nicotine and flavorings all have uses outside of eliquid so how could these fall under the ban. Similarly, could they just market eliquid as a pleasant smelling insecticide?

I'm not seeing any other comments? I hope mine went through? Don't know if this was appropriate or not as I've never done this before.

Here's my revised comment:

Who do I address this to?

To Whom It May Concern in the New York State Senate,

As a New York State and Onondaga County resident, I strongly oppose bill S6939-2013 or any other bill that would ban e-liquid sales, here in New York State.

A former smoker of thirty years, I'm no longer inhaling tar or countless toxic chemicals into my body. After several failed attempts at quitting smoking using traditional methods, vaping has saved my life.

Why isn't the state focused on banning cigarettes? They're the real killers here, not e-liquid.

Numerous people have committed suicide as a direct result from taking Chantex. Also, why is it accceptable for New York state to provide nicotine patches and gum as quitting tools for smokers but vaping nicotine e-liquid, is not.

I must also note that not all e-liquid contains nicotine.

It's unsettling to me that New York state is suggesting what I'm doing now, is more harmful than smoking real cigarettes.

The information outlined in this bill is outdated, incorrect and frankly, disturbing.

In conclusion, I will be contacting my local representive, requesting they vote no on this Senate bill.

Sincerely,

Looks good purplepeeps. Thank you for commenting! Can you edit the comment at all? The only recommendation I'd make is to edit the comment for one spelling error (especially it being a .gov website) from appose to oppose.

Oh s**t! I was getting so hot thinking about this bill. I hope I can go in and edit.

I've updated my comment in my other post. Anyone care to do a spell check? I can't do it on the puter I'm using.
Also, who do I address it to?

TKS!

Dear New York State Senate,

As a New York State Onondaga County resident, I strongly oppose bill S6939-2013 or any other bill that would ban e-liquid sales, in New York State.

Vaping has saved my life! I'm no longer inhaling tar or countless toxic chemicals into my lungs.

Why isn't the state focused on banning cigarettes? They're the real killers here, not e-liquid.

What about the numerous people who've committed suicide as a direct result from taking Chantex. Also, why is it accceptable for the state to provide Nicotine patches and gum as quitting aids but vaping Nicotine e-liquid, is not.

Additionally, not all e-liquid contains Nicotine.

I find it unsettling that New York state is suggesting what I'm doing now, is more harmful than smoking real cigarettes.

The information outlined in this bill is outdated, incorrect and frankly, disturbing.

In conclusion, I will be contacting my local representive, requesting they vote no on this Senate bill.

Sincerely,

Looks good. Possibly might want to write nicotine with all lowercase but I think that can be personal choice. Not sure to whom you should send it. You might also want to add that in regards to ingredients being not listed, this is also not a mandate in alcohol/beer.
