interesting article. The thing that bothers me is the fact that there is a lot of regulation going on in regard to peoples health in general in the state of New York. I can understand a "no smoking" ban because that potentially can affect the health of other in a non consensual environment. I was a bit put off hearing about the ban on super sized drinks. That's kind of stepping over the line. Do I agree that there is an obesity crisis in this country? Yes, I do but I do not agree with government dictating what size soda I can buy if I choose to buy soda.

This potential ban of e-cigs in New York is dangerous on many levels. If passed that may set a precedent for other states to follow suit. I think that in comparison to gum or patches this stacks up [e-cigs] with them. If passed then perhaps they should ban those devices as well.

People are scared of the unknown.

Thanks for posting.

Ah I see here now that it's dated January 2011 ... maybe I should read the entire article (read: date published) first ;)

This article is pretty old... the legislstion passed in a different form, All E-cigarette related items are not to be sold to those under 18years old. Makes sense considering that it's still believed to be a "tobacco" product in the eyes of the federal gov't.

That article was written in January of 2011. The pending legislation at that time was not referred out of the NYS Senate health committee and never made it to the NYS Senate floor to be voted upon and subsiquently died. In this past legislature session in 2012 there was a new bill proposed that also never went anywhere in either the assembly or senate. The legislature did approve in its last session legislation making it illegal to selll ecigs to minors under 18.

Oh, looks like you're correct on it being old. For some reason I thought it was from Sept 26th. Didn't mean to post old news and I am sorry about that. Too much multi-tasking while trying not to smoke an analogue I guess. Still was an interesting read for me though being new and all.
Cheers!
