Hi there,

Im new to this forum and hope to find some great info on all the questions im sure i will inevitably have on vaping etc. hubby just got me the ego-t and we have cartomizers and atty's. so far im a little frustrated with the cartomizers, but hope to get better with them since they promise to be way more convenient for me and will probably be what really helps me quit real cigarettes forever!

Welcome ashabrown! You seem to be off to a very good start! Yes, cartomizers and pretty much anything else associated with vaping have some type of a learning curve. Cartos will of course be your go to once you're more comfortable filling and using them. There are many threads here at ECF and also many videos available to assist you with the "care and feeding" of them. Good luck and please ask anything that you'd like to.

The first carto i filled was amazing. it lasted a week and i honestly think it could have lasted longer but i'd read somewhere thats how long they were "meant" to last so i figured since i had time id start a new carto for the next week. the second on took sooo much more liquid and it dripped everywhere. I'd get about 4 good hits, then it would feel thin, so id top it off because when i looked inside the cotton/white stuff was already dry looking. i used like 50 drops and was so confused. i gae up after 3 days of this nonsense and used my atty most of the time because the carto was being so unsuccessful. this situation happened twice more this week...we ordered two boxes of Oohm 2.0 cartos and so far all the ....ty ones have been from the same box, so im going to try a new carto again from the other box (which is where the first carto i ever tried came from) but im just so mad because i got this really yummy liquid from tasty vapor and it's almost half empty from those other stupid cartos. ive been asking advice from a friend whos been vaping for a year and he said its just trial and error and that ill get better eventually, but ive been following a lot of advice and at this point dont think its because im doing something wrong...is it possible i have a whole box of 5 cartos that suck? that just seems so ridiculous....i hope this makes sense :)

If you have liquid coming out the screw end, it's because you got juice in the middle air hole. You can fill a carto by dripping along the sides of the carto, and rotating around in a circle. Do this several times. You want the top to look like a slushy. You also might want to wait 10 or 15 minutes after filling to make sure the liquid has time to get down to the coil.

After is it full, but not overfilled, put a kleenex at the screw end and gently blow thru the middle tube. Wipe it off and use the kleenex to absorb any standing juice on the top. Put in your drip tip, screw to the battery, and you are good to go. Pull the DT off periodically to see if you need to add more drops, or if you notice a difference in taste or vapor production, you need more liquid.

A carto will last 5 to 7 days, maybe longer, depending on your juice. You can tell when you need to replace the carto as the draw will get very hard, or the taste is off.

A good juice to use in a carto is a 80PG/20VG percentage as that will wick better than a high VG juice.

I had a slightly differ experience with a carto a fellow vaper at work gave me (was having trouble with by tank.)

I was wasn't filling the carto enough and kept getting knarly dry hits (very acrid smoke, burning throat...not pleasant.)

I was using juice that was about 25% VG, 75% PG and it took forever to soak in.

Think I figured it out though and now I'm pretty happy with the cartos although I'll fall back on the tank now that I (think) have it figured out.

I switched to a 50/50 mix and have not had any problems yet. The original PG carts were a bit irritating, but the new mix seems to leave less irritation in my throat. I think it is all up to individual tastes and chemistry. I will continue to experiment, as should anyone trying to find a good balance. Good luck!

can someone explain what a tank is? Im still learning all the lingo and try to figure it out but cant find a good explanation....can i use a tank with a carto? also i currently have a 30%pg mix, is that possibly part of the problem im not getting a satisfying experience with my Oohm 2.0 cartos? jeezus there's soo many different products and new vocabulary to learn!

A Carto Tank is a polycarbonate tube, either 3 ml or 5 ml size, with an end cap on the top and bottom with a carto sized hole in them. You take any standard carto and punch a small hole in the side about 1/4" up from the metal screw end (this will vary depending on the size of your carto and how your tank is made). After punching the hole in the carto, you slide it thru the end caps on your tank. It should make a strong seal. Fill the tank (several methods, your choice) with ejuice and fill your carto also with juice. The tube provides a vacuum in the tank that will keep your carto wet. Screw it on your battery and you are good to go.

If you use thicker juice it might require a larger hole or a second hole.
