So I have been having some issues w/ my new boge cartos.

I will fill them via the condom method. I add about 12-16 drops of liquid, fill it up and let it sit for 30mins to an hour.

I will then top it off if necessary, and clean any residual liquid off of the threaded end, and vape away.

Whats happening is that all of a sudden, i get the foul "carto is empty" burnt ... taste, and upon inspection, the carto still looks full.

The material is still full of juice, but the cart seems to be burning the material, or a dry spot?

Once it happens, the cartos are done. I have tried to refill them w/ no success and a waste of liquid.

WTH am I doing wrong?

Maybe not enough juice initially? I usually use 20 drops in the condom, and add more if necessary. How long are you vaping before this happens? Does it still look slushy, or you can just tell from color or something that it has juice?

See, this is what I'm not liking about cartos. I am adding drops every 10 minutes to keep it going. Very annoying.

I don't think you're using enough juice. They hold about a ml. I've heard 20-25 drops but I can get about 30 drops in mine (all PG or high PG). I do it the old fashioned way. Drip about 10 drops, shake like a thermometer, add more, shake until it pools on top and you get a drop out of the bottom. Let it sit about 10-15 minutes and see if you can add a drop or two more.

You could get the 1.7 smoktek, they hold about double. Or the tank mod. Or a juice feeder.

I use a syringe to fill all my cartos and find it to be hands down the easiest and quickest way to filll cartos. It takes all the guesswork out of filling, i.e figuring out if you put in enough drops or not, and ensures they are filled fully and correctly. Filling with a syringe is very easy to do and theres no waiting for the juice to settle because with a syringe you fill from the bottom up.

When I first started I did the condoms, prior to tanks and such but that is a whole new story. If your going to use the condom method on a Boge. I was filling the condom up 7/8 way full sliding down letting sit for awhile, then filling the condom again and sliding it down again until it came out of the air hole on the top, let it sit for a few( I never actually timed it) then sliding it down a little farther(drips back in to the condom so you can squeeze it back in to your bottle, then after sliding down anymore caused juice to come out of the air hole sliding it up, let excess drip out for awhile then adding a few drops on top of that. That kept them from getting dry to quick, and making sure the battery ended side of you carto has plenty of juice in it. then topping off as needed. That was my method, it worked well for me prior to tanks.

From the info given my best guess is the liquid is so thick it's not able to feed down to the coil as fast as you're using it. This could be from too much VG in the juice (you could thin w/ a little distilled water) or possibly (I think) from running a LR carto at too high a voltage. Of course it also depends upon how fast you're vaping as to whether or not any of the above will apply. Maybe. I'm pretty new around here too so take all that with a bucket of salt. YVMV. Happy Vaping!

Yuck, nothing like the taste of burnt filler. Been there, done that.

Like swedishfish said. She's worth listening to. :)

I've used all 3 ways. Condom, syringe, drip & shake. For a boge, the one that seems to work best for me is the drip and thermometer shake. It takes more time, but I haven't had any problems with the Boges since using that method.

I know that it's almost ready when a tiny bit of juice shakes out the bottom (on my hand). At that point, I add a couple more drops and let it sit upright. When a drop leaks out the bottom, it's ready to go. Then blow on the threaded end to clear out any extra juice, and clean the threading. This method does take more patience, but it pays off. I also roll it back and forth in my hand between drippings to distribute the juice evenly. Not sure if that works, but it gives me something to do. ;)

What helped me in the learning process was to use a clear carto with filler. It let me see what was actually taking place with the juice when filling.

May your Boges never be dry! LOL

When you condom fill, are you putting the threaded end in the juice? There is no way you can get a dry hit if you are putting the threaded end into the condom.

This is only way i do it!! Even w/ the threaded end in the juice, it seems like 1 out of 3 cartos will produce the burnt ... taste, after 10-20 drags.

I am ordering some more cartos from CCV, and will get a syringe too to try out.

All of my juices are 60% PG and 40%VG? They don't seem too thick at all.

I am using SR cartos (2.8-3.2ohm boges) with a SD keyring (300mah) and standard 510 batts (180mah)

Its just weird to look in the cartos and see all the great wet juiciness, and then take a hit of foul assed burnt cotton or whatever the material is.

It could just be a prob with the carto. Is it just the one or the whole 5 pk? The last one I tried to fill would not absorb the juice no matter what I tried. Started with the condom method. It soaked up some but not all of the 20 drops I had in the condom. Tried dripping more on the top. It just sat there. Tried the shaking down method. Finally got it looking wet but a couple of pulls on it and it tasted burnt. I just wouldn't wick. It went in the trash. I'm thinking the filler material was wound to tight. Got another out of the pk and it filled just fine.

I haven't tried the condom method yet. I was thinking though if you stick the threaded battery end in the condom it gets wet of course and i know you wipe it off. But wouldn't there be some residue left that would transfer to the battery itself?

I was thinking the same thing before I tried it but it can be cleaned off well enough with a paper towel. For me the condom method usually works well. I plan on getting a syringe and trying that method though. Sound really easy and wouldn't be as messy.
