Hello all, just wanted to post and introduce myself. My name is John, and I just recently discovered digital cigarettes after my wife was browsing DX and saw one on there.

I've been smoking since I was 15, so I'm hoping this will end up being a replacement for all the crap I've been breathing in for almost nine years.

I did some research myself about the different models, and to begin with I've decided on the starter kit from Safercig. (That's the DSE901 right?)
I normally smoke menthol lights, so I also got a 5 pack of refills, that way I can try the menthol and see how the flavor is.

I've always been kind of iffy about shipping from China, so I figured for my first venture I'd go with someone in the U.S.

If the whole experience is to my liking, I'll be trying some different liquids to see what flavors I like. (and also to save some money on carts)

Anyhow, enough about me. I look forward to learning more about the whole e-smoking experience. I've already been reading over a lot of the info here, but I'm sure there's still more than enough to learn about.

Cheers!

Yes, that is a DSE901. Good choice. You can't go wrong with that model. You might want to get a spare atomizer or two. Check out Puresmoker.com for them. Located in California and they have good prices, great customer service and they are fast.

Good luck and happy vaping!

I'm sure this question is probably adressed elsewhere, but do the vaporizers really burn out so often that you need to keep a few of them around?

Yes, atomizers are the weak link. I've had some go cold after 2-4 days but this is the exception. I have others that are 8+ weeks old and still going strong. Best to have a spare or two so your not left in the cold if your only one dies.

Well, I guess the batteries already had a partial charge, cause it's already showing fully charged.

If this thing holds up the way it works now, I'll be very happy!

The first few drags were a bit light on vapor, but it seems to be working itself out fairly quickly. I also browsed around the Tips & Tricks thread, and saw that some people were taking the little end thingy out of the mouth piece to get more vapor and make it easier to inhale.
I tried that and noticed a bit of fluid in my mouth, so instead, I took an Exact-O knife and widened the little hole at the tip of the mouth piece a bit.

Much better! I can now drag lightly and get a good hit of vapor every time. The only odd thing I've noticed is the flavor. I'm sure it's common for newbs to say the flavor is strange but, the menthol carts seem to taste more like... well.. caramel.. As crazy as it sounds, every time I take a drag it tastes like caramel.:confused:

I'm just curious if anyone else has tasted anything like that with their menthol carts?

Overall I'm pleased with the product and look forward to using it so I can get away from the analog smoke.

What a load of BULL. .... Sorry mate.... Sounds like you just took some of what we said and copied it.

Well, I have to say rustylug... It was your youtube videos along with other things that made me decide to try the e-cigarette.. And I had an interest in what you had to say as I learn about everything, both in your video posts, and here in this forum.. But with a comment like that, I think it's safe to say I'll be passing over what you may post in the future..

Sorry you feel the need to yell "bull****" at the sight of someone who took a bit of time to learn a few things and be partially knowledgable before buying his first e-cigarette.. That doesn't make me a parrot, just someone who likes to know what he's getting into.

Cheers.

Thanks Kate. :) This is my second day e-smoking (well, last night and today) and so far the mini is holding up good. I just started my second cartridge a couple hours ago, but I've been smoking this a lot more than the regular cigarettes, just because of the new novelty of it all. lol! I'm normally a light smoker, maybe 5 or 6 cigs a day maximum. So I'm thinking that as I figure out a good limit for myself I'll probably be able to get two days out of one cartridge. (maybe even three if I stretch my time between puffs) I have noticed a couple things tho. I think I will definitely be changing to the medium, or even the low nic. refills/liquid. The refills I got with the kit are high nic., and I think it's too much for me. A few times after taking a couple decent sized puffs I'll get a bit light headed, and my hand will shake a bit. So from what I've read here, it seems to be a mild nicotine overload. Any thoughts? Also, the flavor is still funky. all the cartridges I got were menthol, and so far they all still taste like caramel to me. Other than those two main things, I think I like it. I'm almost thru my first 24 hours smoke free. If I can get the nicotine level figured out, and find a flavor I really like, this may be my answer.

Well, we don't really know how much of the nicotine we inhale gets absorbed into our bloodstream so it's best to go with what your body says. If you're getting overdose symptoms go to zero nic for a while to let your body recover a bit. You can get lower nic eliquid or dilute high juice with your own flavourings and glycerine.

Some people get used to higher nic levels but it's probably not great for your health, as low as you can go without negative side effects is likely best.

There are loads of different flavours to experiment with, you'll get the hang of it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I haven't read much into mixing or what to use for diluting the liquid. I'll start reading what I can do in that regard.

As for the used cartridge I have now, I've noticed it's still partially moist. I'm guessing not all the liquid is used up during normal use? Is there any kind of flavor extract I can get from the grocery store that's safe to use with the atomizer? If so, can the flavoring be injected into the cartridge to refill it and dilute what's still in there so I can get the most use out of it?
