Coming soon, I'll try my hand at giving reviews of the flavors I've tried. But, in case this thread stays around for other noobs in the future, first a bit of background (so you can decide if I am similar enough to you to keep reading):
At a Halloween party this year, the hostess (gf of a friend of mine) showed me her V4L e-cigs; that was my first exposure to a real person using them (vs hawkers in mall kiosks). So I ordered, and I've been vaping jabout a week. I previously smoked cigs for 30+ years, with some pipes and cigars for a few years in the late 80s. For the past year, I've averaged 0.75 packs per day of Camel Turkish Gold (or Lights if unavailable). I despised menthol, preferring a nic-fit over those. I've quit smoking a few times, usually with patches, but often seem to go back within a year. Since I've been vaping, I've averages 5 "analog" cigs per day. So far today, I'm smoke free.
How I smoke(d): drag some smoke into mouth, inhale. Rarely would I exhale thru my nose.
How I vape: I replicate smoking, but some times I exhale thru my nose. Some times I'll puff a few times to get a cloud of vapor in front of my face which I can smell. And I've even done the inhale thru nose while pushing vapor out of my mouth (kinda looks cool). I guess I don't know enough about TH, just what's harsh vs what's pleasant. And if volume of vapor on one is dramatically higher or lower than the others, I may point that out. For the most part, I chose to start with 18mg nic concentrations and WOW cartos based on the writeups on v4l.com.
Other stuff: Wife never let me smoke in the house. And I don't blame her. I don't like the smell of homes where people smoke. I rarely smoke in restaurants and prefer to sit in non-smoking section because food and smoke don't mix IMHO. Bars on the other hand: Well, beer and liquor just scream for smoke! Given the right flavor, my wife actually enjoys my vaping in the house with her around, and I can vape the ones she finds objectionable in the house alone as the aroma does not linger. I don't like "flavored" iced tea (Half/Half sweet tea w/ a couple lemon wedges is perfect), and I prefer black unflavored coffee. Scotch and Irish whiskies neat, full-bodied stouts & ales, and bourbon & Coke.
I must say, I began this journey trying to replicate my Cigs of choice, and quickly learned on the ECF that such an endeavor is doomed to fail. But it IS possible for a smoker to find a satisfying replacement.
So, keep your eyes peeled in this thread for some reviews. As of this moment, I've tried 6 different flavors. I have 4 more here I've not gotten to yet, and another 4 on their way. I will do them in approximately the order I tried them. Here's the list I intend to cover over time:
