Newb starter kit, second go round

I wanted to write up something about my specific experiences in trying to figure out what I wanted to start out with after discovering ECF.

Requirements:

I'm a 1/1.5 PAD smoker of Winston Lights. I am also pretty cheap and lazy. I wanted something which would fulfill the following, which is in general order of priority.

- battery lasts all day
- low upfront costs
- low ongoing cost/maintenance
- minimal eliquid maintenance

Starter Kit 1:

I purchased the following before finding out about ECF:

I've been smoking on these successfully for 3 days, and had already ordered another batt, some clearomizers, and eliquid from them (started with 6 mg carts, ordered 12 mg eliquid). From having never vaped, the experience from these was pretty cool. I have two batts, and I end up incrementally charging them every 1-3 hours or so. I'm going through about 1.5 carts per day, so I'm almost out, and hoping that my shipment gets here before I run out!

It took me forever to figure out that the V2 was a KR808D-1. It also took me forever to figure out that I didn't want to stay with the KR808D-1 form factor.

I've since decided to get an eGo style batt.

Starter Kit 2:

So, I'll just start with my order and go from there. I ordered from a single supplier for my next "kit" for several reasons:

- many other popular retailers were out of what I was looking for, or didn't carry everything I was looking for
- wanted to save on shipping

Vision Spinner Tank Combo
- I chose the Vision Spinner instead of the eGo Twist due to mah/cost and the physical size being shorter than the 1100 Twist. This vendor was the only one I could find with both the 1300 Spinner, ego charger, and kanger/mininova clearomizers. I ordered these in the hopes that at least one will last for six months, and I'm hoping the larger mah will allow me to use one all day without recharging.

Atomizer Head for Kanger T3 eGo Bottom Coil Clearomizer
- The kit comes with 2 Kanger T3 Clearomizers. It's a little tough to figure out just how long one Kanger T3 Clearomizer/Head will last (some say a week, some say two months). I bought 5 spare heads in the hope that 7 heads will last me for two months or so.

Joyetech eGo Rapid USB Charger
Mini AC Wall to USB Converter
- There isn't much information on chargers and the Vision Spinner out there, and most of it seems a little...iffy, and recommends the ego 420-450mA charger, which seemed to be out of stock everywhere else I looked. I bought a spare set of the chargers that were included in the combo, as I assume the vendor knows what they're talking about. This charger outputs 5V - 500mA, which I'm hoping doesn't fry my batts.

I added in some syringes and some of the MVS liquid (555, RY4, and menthol 10ml, 11mg if you wanted to know)

Total order list:
2x Vision Spinner Battery
2x Mini Wall to USB Converter
2x Joye eGo Rapid USB Charger
2x Kanger T3 Clearomizer
5x Atomizer Head for Kanger
1x Syringe + needles
30ml eliquid

Conclusion:

While I'm waiting on my Starter Kit 2, I'll be puffing away on my V2s and hope I don't run out.

I feel pretty good about the potential longevity of my system. I think I'll be able to make one purchase a month (eliquid/heads), and maybe major replacement purchases every 4-6 months (clearomizers/heads/batts/chargers).

Looks like you did your homework and found a solid all day vape. The Vision Spinner 1300 mah is a great high capacity setup and should serve you well combined with the T3. Now comes the hard part - resisting temptation to get more than you really need! Congratulations on making the switch and finding good products!

Awesome choice on your 2nd kit; I am sure you will be quite pleased with it. I've used both the Twist and the Spinner batteries and like them both! I do agree with your calculations of about what you will need to purchase and when. That being said; you will undoubtedly get hooked to this obsession/hobby and order all new kinds of things! Major kudos to you if you don't!

Just got my package in the mail. Smokes perfect right out of the box, like my 808 on a full charge with a fresh cart, every time. I had a little confusion on the batt, until I remembered the five click thing I read about to turn it on. There are NO directions of any sort, which I didn't expect, but was still a little surprising.

I'm pretty happy with the packaging, shipping speed, and quality of the product. It even beat my second shipment of stuff from V2 despite ordering it a couple of days later (the v2 shipment hasn't shown up yet).

Now to get this stupid analog taste out of my mouth.

ETA: Glad to read your kit arrived! And instruction booklets can be useless. The one that came with my first Joyetech eGo kit was printed in such small type I had to use a magnifying glass.

Wowee! I got 10ml of menthol try try out. I'm not a menthol smoker, but I've had them on occasion. The menthol is actually fun to vape!! I remember smoking menthols and wondering when my lungs were gonna fall out. Vaping gives some great flavor without lung pain!

I didn't realize that I'd have to do so much maintenance!

I'm one week into using the Spinner/Kanger t3 combo. I'm finding that the Kanger head doesn't seem to last an entire tank, 2.4 ml, before it begins putting up some off flavors. So I have to clean it, and when I do, two flavor wicks came out and essentially disintegrated. It seems to work fine without these wicks, though. And I only fill the tank around 1.5ml instead so the burnt flavor doesn't leech into the eliquid. I had no idea I'd have to do a daily clean of these heads. Hopefully they'll last a while, I only bought 5 spare heads. I guess I should order some more.

On the upside, my stuff from WL came in, so I have a bunch of DIY steeping.

I thought I'd add more information on my experiences thus far with vaping (still hate the term, but it's so handy, I started using it).

Kanger T3s

As it has been my only clearomizer so far (can't afford get get different ones yet) I've been working to try to get them to vape more consistently.

I've purchased 100% cotton thread, and rewicked all the heads, which seems to have increased the longevity of the heads, and the consistency of the vape between the heads and different ejuice viscosities. It is still a bit of maintenance, but as long as the coils don't burn out, I can probably get by with rewicking all the heads (7) once a week or so.

eGo Spinner

I've not let either of my batts run out yet, as I usually start charging one when the other is done charging. For me, they seem to last around 10ish hours of pretty steady vaping (a few puffs every 5/10 mins). I like em, but still feel like buying a provari or a gripper, or diy. There's so much inconsistent information out there, I'm not sure what to add to my kit.

I initially purchased 70ml of overpriced ejuice in addition to DIY stuff. I'm glad I did. I'm still working on getting an everyday vape recipe. I think I've settled on a simple ry4 recipe. I'm going to make 50ml of it and probably finish off my ready made stuff and then switch.

DIY is fun. I would suggest that anyone could do it, just be sure to get double the stuff you think you'll need.
