Well I am a newb here and to ecig and vape world in general but some might say I have become obsessed with vaping. 2 weeks ago my wife and I kicked the analogs and started the e cigs. I was a smoker for 23 years most of them a pack to 2 pack a day smoker I has quit for 2 years but went back due to a break up with my ex. My wife has been a smoker for more than 25 years would quit when she was pregnant with her 4 kids but always go to smoking when I met her 4.5 years ago she has been a pack every other day during the week to pack to 2 pack on the weekend like me.

SO I was thinking this would save me money oh but exactly the opposite. Yeah we started at the local vape shop bought me a kamry k100 mod a couple batteries and a protank 2. Bought the wife a Vision Spinner 1300mAH and a protank 2. Next day we went to one of the more premier vape shops in Boise. Got introduced to the dripper so I bought that got a lesson on Batteries and Sub Ohming. Bought a Igo W And a couple AW 18650 batteries. Then started looking around here looking at the clones a lot of the how too stuff so off to Ebay. I bought a H Cigar Nemesis clone And some protank coils.

Now this past weekend was rough was all proud of my new Nemesis so we were going to the Vape shop for some more flavors and to find a Atty that was like a dripper but had a tank. But I had the k100 in its soft case with the Protank and my extra AW Battery. I put the case in the front pocket of my hoody and it fell out on the ground not knowing off we went to the vape shop. I bought a AGA T2 which I am in love with been watching tutorials on rebuilding. a OHM Meter and some kanthal and silica.

I am a ASE Master Auto technician and metal fabricator by trade. I like the nuts an bolts of things the Vape ecig is right up my alley I now have spent what I consider a decent chunk of money on this. I have been obsessed and now bought more kanthal wire started rebuilding my protank coils testing them with the ohm meter tweeking them got them right around the 1.83Ohm using 30 gauge Kanthal.

Now some of you might be saying what happened to the case that fell on the ground. Well I have 2 Jeeps with big tires lots of plate steel Armor for protecting against rocks. My wifes is on 37's mine is on 35's well that case landed right below the drivers door and I backed up it got ran over. I found it when we got home. Now knowing that I have 35's on my 2 door jeep its not going to be good. I knew it had been ran over judging from the tire tracks on the case and how the kinds distorted the case a little. I opened the case had mixed feelings. The protank looks fine the AW Battery looks fine and still work fine. The K-100 not so much. It smashed the battery tube pretty well. So I took it to work and proceeded to try and repair it. I got it kind of fixed tube is super thin metal and just breaks doesn't bend back out but it holds a battery fires a coil just like it always did just looks pretty rough with a huge hole on the side so you can see the battery has good ventilation though. I bought a Vision spinner for myself this week so I can use my nemmy or the spinner with the protank.

I have saved damn near $130 on not buying analogs in 2 weeks. I have spent way way over that but worth it. The wife and I are feeling better. We have more energy and never realized the smell of analogs. Yuck!!!!

Thanks for reading my first 2 weeks of Vapeing.

Welcome!

This is a great writeup. I have had the same problem with things falling out of my hoodie pockets, so I have stopped using them for anything important.

As a metal fabricator, can you make a replacement tube for the K100, or is it just cheaper in the end to replace it? Do you do custom work? I have some ideas ...

Now the important part of all this. You are not smoking, so your savings are even higher if you can figure in the nebulous costs of healthcare you won't need ... at least for smoking related issues. In the beginning, most everyone goes through this thinking that it costs more than smoking, but what I have found is that after your hardware purchases stabilize and you get into a routine of just buying supplies (coils, juice, kanthal, etc.), over time you will ultimately save money. It took me about 3 months to get to the "break even" point, but now I am saving a bit ... enough that I can spare a little for more vape gear and STILL be in the black. Of course, there is always the possibility that you will be one of the few that will never break even, because there are too many shiny toys out there, but this "seems" to be a pretty rare case from what I have seen.

Anyway, good luck with your vaping ... For the record, I don't recommend stress testing more mods with the Jeep!

New guy brings the doughnuts.....its important.

I think it will get easier in time to just maintain your gear and top off your juice collection. Consider some DIY juices too...can save some money doing that. Thats (one) of my next steps.

IM lookin at these guys http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-Glycerin-USP-Kosher-Vegetable/Categories

or these guys Wholesale Propylene Glycol in Bulk...Cheapest USP Propylene Glycol Online

for PG/VG...just have to decide which is the safest-non GMO choice. stuffs cheaper on the second link, im not sure why.

DONT tell anyone you can build stuff w/ metal and/or you know what you are doing with that. YOU WILL BE HOUNDED TO DEATH with requests.

After mine, of course :p

Welcome :)

Welcome! Congratulations on the no smoking. I too have noticed that this is much more than just a stop smoking aid! In can get very addictive even without the nicotine! I spend as much time tinkering as vaping! I have had to force a budget on myself. Welcome again and since your well ahead of the curve as far as gear and all I hope you find your sweet spot aka: all day vape cuz I have yet to keep an all day vape longer than 6-9 days a quest if there ever was one.
