I posted a thread the other day with my new purchase-a sigelie 150 watt box mod, a magma clone and batts/charger to go with it.

Im looking for recomendations on coil builds for this thing. I have a 100' roll of 26g kanthal and a lot of sterile cotton ATM. (Will be ordering more kanthal if there's a better size for this build)

mainly looking for great flavor.

I don't mind trying twisted parallel coils or dual coils or single coils.

I'm currently using various drill bit sizes to wrap-so would need to know what drill bit to use and how many wraps would work best!

thanks in advanced

Ah, no worries.

I like 26g. It's pretty versatile.

I've got a Sig 150 as well, and the build I seem to use most in my Magma is 7 wraps around a 2mm bit.
Gets you about .7 ohms, depending on how long the coil legs are.
Battery last forever, and great flavor.

You might be pushing a bit to run a twisted build in there with 26, it takes a while to heat up unless you pump the watts up.

I'm not a huge fan of parallel coils, I really do prefer twisted.
Hopefully someone a bit more versed with the parallels can chime in.

Sounds like you have the perfect supplies! I use the same, 26g kanthal and sterile cotton. I do micro coils...10 wraps usually puts my ohm rating at a 1.2 and that sterile cotton wicks the juice all the way to the coil ( unlike cotton balls or Japanese cotton pads) so u should be in flavor town in no time!

So you do a 7/6 wrap around a ~ 5/64 drill bit?
What wattage do you run that at?

That sounds about right.
All my bits are metric, so imperial measurements kinda throw me off. :D

I typically run it around 40w.
I like an almost uncmfortably hot vape, though. You'd probably do better between 20-30 to start.

As a side note, a 1.8ohm coil with 26g will be huge. Like, 18 wraps at 2mm. You'd be better off with a much higher gauge.

Oh, and I do a horizontal single coil on my kayfun tank

This is exactly how I build on my Magma and you're absolutely correct -- the single .7Ω is great for both flavor and battery life. :thumb:

according to steam engine calculator:
1.8 ohm 26 gauge 5mm works out to 8 to 9 wraps in the green at 30 watts

That is correct. However, fitting a 9 wrap 5mm coil in almost anything is very finicky.

While this is subjective, I find you get better flavor out of much smaller diameter coils thanks to the increased surface area.

Oh-I wouldn't mind seeing some pics of your guys current magma builds either!

Sounds good guys!
Ill try these out and check out that site-thanks for the link!

Any of you ever build a 150 watt coil in the magma? LOL. I can't imagine a 150 watt vape being comfortable lol.

Never tried in a Magma, but I have a Mutation with my 150w build in it.
Dual coil, .3 ohm, 10 wraps of 22g at 3mm I.D. I'm assuming that should fit in a Magma if that's what you want. I do worry the airflow wouldn't be sufficient, though. Also, the Magma's really suited more for flavor. There are much better RDA's for super-watt vaping.

It is very, very hot. But akin to one of my earlier posts, that's how I like it.

dual 7/8 wrap 24gauge kanthal around a 3/16" (or roughly 2.5mm) drill bit. With a box mod, you can take advantage of higher resistance coils and their larger surface area by just pushing up the wattage. I'm playing around with 8-10wrap micro coils for the surface area, and I have mine set on 70-75W. Clouds and vapor galore, in an RDA that wasn't meant for flavour (Dark horse).

Ive actually said this in a coiple different threads today so might as well say it here too. I recommend zipper coils all the way for huge output of vapor while still retaining maximum flavor. 6 wraps on a 1/16 bit gets me to about 0.19Ω and vaping comfortably, without being overly hot, around 90-110 watts. I can hit 150 watts if I go 4 wraps each coil. This is built on my plume veil but iys jist as easy to.toss on a magma. Clouds so big my face and upper torso are invisible upon exhale. Good call with the Sigelei though...had mine since 3rd day they were out and its by far and above my favorite high wattage mod.zipper.jpg
