Hi guys, in accord to accumulating 5 post. (hoping someone would actually read the questions I have on the other hand)

A short introduction about myself would be that I was a heavy smoker for 8years and just recently I acquired a cloupor mini with subtank mini. (love it! currently on 0.5ohm 30W setup, have yet tried non-subohm setup) ps.(I'm also a EE engineer :))

I understand that older batches cloupor mini could potentially be dangerous and am weary that mine would too so I would like to know what other size equivalent mod box is recommended?

On the other hand, juice spitting is really annoying on the device/tank itself and I have tried searching for answers to which I still don't understand as my exposure to the device itself is still minimal.

Hi WarA! Welcome to the forum. :)

I would hope that there aren't any more old batch Cloupor 30W floating around. From what I hear, the new batches are just fine.

If you must get something new, I would recommend the iStick 30W, or maybe even the iStick TC40W. The TC40W has temperature control (that has some iffy calibration) but will just give you more power in general to play with.

As for spitting, if you are using the factory coil heads your only variables are airflow, power, and juice composition (PG/VG ratio). To start, you could try using a more VG heavy juice. Spitting tends to happen when your wick is pulling too much juice to the coil and the coil is not vaporizing all of it.

Are you using the RBA section on your Subtank? Or using the factory coil heads?

I don't know about the Cloudpor. It might help, when you refill your tank, make sure the airflow is closed off. That has helped me a lot with bottom fed tanks.

the airflow on the newer subtank mini does not have any option to fully close off the airflow, I would try to cover the holes up when I refill next time thanks!

thanks Cullin!
I was looking at the same iStick TC40W, temperature control is something I suppose I wouldn't venture in as I am not really chasing clouds with long drags but more towards as a alternative to quit smoking altogether. (but eh its a new hobby anything can happen!)
You don't have to be a cloud chaser to use temp control. Dry hits happen to anyone. TC just prevents that.

yup, the distance between setting still exposes the holes. I'll try it now and see if it improves. Also I went poking around and was told that a tighter coil would probably help as well but I'm sceptical about that method. Would definitely try it once I get my hands on 26g wire other than relying on stock oem coils

Hi and welcome to the forum WarA. Make sure you reply to everyone and you'll soon rack up 5 posts and can start using the other forums.

I'm happy to hear you started with a sub-ohm setup and avoided the frustration (and expense ) that I experienced trying to get a satisfying vape over the last 4 years.

I have a couple of Cloupor minis and they do a good job (but I have to change batteries too often with sub-ohm tanks). I understand you're wary but you could build your confidence in your unit by checking the batch number on your VIP card: Batch 0002xx had a low number of defective Boards. All following batches have been good to go. A firmware update was done on later releases. The manufacturer recommended Physical Test for units in Batch 0002 is as follows -
Install tank/Coil only - no wick/e-liquid (or be willing to potentially ruin a coil by burning the wick)
Set to 30w
Fire to cut off- All Cloupor mini's have a 15 second cut off
If unit displays temp warning (or battery gets very hot) - it is defective.
If no temp warning and battery just gets warm - it is good.

The Clouper mini is quite small and I'm not aware of any size-equivalent boxes available. I have several istick 50W boxes that feel good in my hand and have twice the power (4400 mah instead of 2600) but they are a bit bigger (not by much) and don't have replaceable 18650 batteries so one has to recharge the LIPO for several hours once they're depleted - but they do have pass-thru capability. I have become quite fond of temp control for the consistancy of vapor produced but the IPV4 and EVIC VT are considerably bigger/heavier than the Cloupor. I have been considering acquiring the eleaf istick TC 40W and it looks to be about the size of the Cloupor (maybe a bit bigger) but again has a LIPO battery (non-user replaceable).

Hope this helps you. Take care and happy vaping.

Hi WarA, and welcome to the board. You're hearing good advice so I won't jump in, beyond saying I think Temp Control is a good idea. Howeber, this tech in still in infancy, and implementation can vary by brand and model. Come here on the board and do some reading of reviews before making your choice. If you want a non-TC machine to replace your Cloupor-- I don't think you need to, but if you want-- the iTaste MVP 3.0 is comparable in power and a good choice.
