Thank you for all the terrific advice. I've been fighting the quitting issue for several months now and I think I just haven't committed to giving up the analogs yet. Rickajho you have me down to a t ! I smoke analogs all day long and it isn't until I'm home sittin down in front of the tv or computer that I vape. I've been smoking 20-25 cigarettes a day for so many years I guess I'm just afraid of letting them go but I know it is time.
All the suggestions are very helpful and this evening I will but some of them to use. As corny as it may seem these last few days I've been telling myself that after midnight tonight I will never buy or smoke another tobacco cigarette. Wish me luck guys and thank you once again...

Thanks for sharing this part of your joyrney with us. Im pretty new to vaping still and I sometimes smell an analog and long for it but grab my pv and chain vape til I forget til that urge passes... One urge, craving or habitual moment at a time. YOU CAN DO IT!!! And you will when you're ready! A lot of it (for me) had to do with my willingness... Fear can keep us from great things!!! Good luck!!! Happy New Year!!!

You can just add enough juice to equal maybe 10 to 15 puffs and when that runs out, that is a cigarette. Wait a half hour to an hour and add more juice measuring to the exact same amount as the last time and when that's done, you repeat. It's the best way to do it. Every month you lower the nicotine amount until you use zero. If you are a smoker, the goal is to not use any nicotine and eventually quit ALL inhalant type delivery methods.
Man, your posts are all OVER the place. You speak like you are writing irrefutable vaping LAW.

You need to study the word subjectivity...by the way, the "goal" is to do whatever the hell you want, while not getting cancer and smoking analogs.

Hi All,
I'm the new guy on the block. My Name is Cary and I'm soon to be 55 yrs old. I have been smoking pretty much since I was 17.
I have been experimenting with electronic cigarettes since June and still having a hard time giving up the analogs. My biggest stumbling block seems to be chain vaping. With the analog you always hard a start and an end to the cigarette. You light it take puffs on it then it burns down and you put it out. But with vaping you could keep on going until the battery runs down, then put on another battery. So I find that when I'm home I chain vape until I go to bed and this leaves me feeling keyed up.
Is there a certain method to timing your vaping so you puff on it like a regular cigarette then stop? Or take so many puffs and ten stop? Has anyone experimented with this? I'm interested in using e cigs to give up smoking but unless I can develop some sort of system I feel I'm just picking up another habit in addition to smoking. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Cary...

Hi Cary,
I will be 55 in May as well. I started smoking regularly by 14 and had smoked whenever I could for a number of years before that. I had tried a number of things in my life including the patch, the prescription, etc, etc. In all it does come down to one thing, how determined are you to quit? I guess I was never as determined in the past. But this time it really has seemed like it wasn't that hard. I too had messed around with vape on a couple a son loaned me for several months and didn't think that could replace smoking for me. Then this winter the polar vortex kept hitting my state and we haven't smoked inside in a very long time so going outside to smoke wasn't so fun. In December my wife and I went and bought our own mods and carto tanks and got serious about vaping. I started cutting down gradually how much I was smoking until it wasn't more than 2-3 cigarettes a day. There are probably times I vape more, usually something like watching TV but I really haven't had a problem with massively overdoing it, maybe because I took the taper slow and easy with the cigarettes. Finally on the 13th of January I said enough and haven't had a cigarette since then. It seemed really hard to make that last jump but after a few days it really didn't bother me at all. Good luck, you can do it if you set your mind to it and maybe keep the ecig in another place when you find yourself indulging too much and make it inconvenient to vape and see if that works?? I just haven't had that problem, so it was all I could think of doing.

I was able to make my final transition by focusing on giving up one habitual analog at a time. 'today ill try to.get through my morning routine getting ready with only vaping and no analogs just for that small amount of time. Within a few days I just kept going. All the while making sure I had an analog available just cuz. I hated feeling like I did not have a choice. So I carried an open pack for 9 days.... You WILL succeed! :)

I smoked a pack+ a day for 30 years. When I first started vaping I spent the next 4 months vaping at the office and a little at home and smoking cigarettes as well.

I didn't quit smoking until I found a good quality ecig that worked the way I wanted, and the right flavor. The right flavor was essential because it wasn't tobacco flavor at all. For me, finding something that satisfied my craving and tasted nothing like cigarettes got me to prefer the new taste over the tobacco. After that quitting smoking was easy, it didn't taste as good and wasn't as satisfying as vaping.

Hmm that was a good way of thinking of it. I haven't ventured out into flavors yet right now just vaping menthol tobacco.
Now that its been 35 days since I've had an analog I want to start trying new things :) I feel like I'm missing out by not trying flavors!

Sorry, but I respectfully need to disagree with your statement above. This certainly may be your goal as a smoker, but it may not be the goal of all smokers who decide to vape instead of smoke.

Just wanted to jump in here and wish you well.
My advice is whatever works for you, go with it!
From CO also and know we have some great vape shops around here. Maybe go hang out at one and talk to other vapers?

Oh! i didn't realise that! But what if you don't WANT to ''quit ALL inhalant type delivery methods''? I'm quite happy vaping-is that wrong?

Oh definitely try new flavors. Find a local shop that lets you take sample puffs in the store and try them out. Get an idea of what you like and don't like.

Generally I suggest starting out by trying candy flavors that you already like. The reason for that is often times the flavoring that is used is exactly the same. It gives you a good baseline on what to expect when tasting a familiar flavor through vaping so as you get more experimental you'll have a better idea of what to expect.

I never smoked in the house, so I had to go out to the garage when the urge struck. I keep telling myself that I need to keep the mod out there, or at least in another room, so I'm forced to get up to use it. But, of course, it's sitting right here by my side, like it has been for the past 9 months...far too easy to chain vape.

Same here. Just starting myself. I keep the stick (starting with disposables, very light smoker), where my cigs would go. 3 to 5 puffs for me do it. Haven't felt the urge to chain vape at all. But did follow the recommendation to start with 20/24 mg (I like the taste of blu regs, go figure), and have some light WC on the way. May give up analogs before I'm out of packs (what do I do with those? Feel guilty giving to fellow smokers).
