Hi, new here. I haven't tried an e-cig yet, but from reading the message boards it looks like a dse 901 or Joye 510 would be a good first choice for a beginner? I currently smoke menthol light 150 cigs.
I've found vendors for the dse 901, but I haven't found a vendor that also sells the pre filled cartridges for the dse 901.
It looks like the Joye 510 comes with atomizers and as I understand it, you have to buy juice for the atomizers? Since I've never tried an e-cig, that seems a bit daunting. Perhaps it's not, but for a beginner, I want to go the easiest route possible.
I need to purchase a kit as soon as possible because a medical condition I've developed makes it imperative that I quit smoking ASAP.
Any suggestions on where I might purchase a dse 901 along with pre filled cartridges (preferably menthol flavored) would be appreciated. Or would a Joye501 be a good choice for a newbee? Many thanks in advance

I cannot help on where to purchase the models you are interested in, but I would like to
offer a suggestion on your suggested use of prefilled cartridges. More than likely, you
will not be happy with the prefilled carts due to the very limited choice of flavors that
a vendor uses. Menthol in vaping is somewhat of a challenge to get close to what may
satisfy you in the flavor department.
I would suggest that you get Boge soft tip cartomizers (specificaly) as they are easy to
use and fill. Juice flavors will be very subjective to your particular taste buds. I would
again suggest order juice from several juice vendors and buy only small bottles at first.
Alot of menthols are overpowering and strong so I would also suggest buying tobacco
flavored juices and mixing them together for a more balanced menthol taste.
If you would spend a little time reading here, watching YouTube videos (just about
everything ecig there) and learning more, the time spent in doing so, will very much
elevate your overall vaping experience.
It is not as easy as walking into the local store and buying your favorite pack of cigs.
But the overall benefits, espcially the health factor will far outweigh the small
stumbling blocks you may incurr at first.
This community is GREAT and I don't think the knowledge here can be surpassed by
any other site on the web.
We are all here to help you succeed in every way.

Glad to have you and glad to see that you are getting off the analogs and
I LOVE that Colorado!

Hi and welcome to ECF!

Vaporkings sells prefilled 901 carts here: DSE901 Mini pre-filled and blank cartridges (I believe they also fit on a 510)

mypvshop.com sells prefilled 510 carts here: http://www.mypvshop.com/store/electronic-cigarettes/joye510/cartridges/

I don't think many people buy prefilled carts. They don't last very long. Prefilled cartomizers (cartridge and atomizer in one piece) seem to be more popular. Still I would think most people would refill them with their own juice. It's VERY easy to do and there are a million videos on YouTube showing how to do it.

Check out the "sticky" thread from MistreesNomad, it was really helpful to me when I was first starting. It's here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

Welcome to the forums, I'm a newb too. I ordered a Tornado T...same as the eGo T...it has a "tank" you pop a lid off and just drip your premixed juice in...very easy...vapes nice....I have had it for 5 days and have only had 1/2 cig...wich was the day I got it... You can get 20ml of eliquid for about $10...a tank will hold 1.2ml...I have been vaping very...vary very heavily and I only go through 3-5 tanks a day...thats with my girlfriend puffing on it time to time. The "T" kits usually come with 2 full ecigs along with 5 extra tanks...For me...it tasted really bad the first 1-2 days while the atty was breaking in..but since that its great.

i would suggest litecigusa or libertyflights, you might also look into a kr808d-1 that way u have a 2 peice design and it might be simpler for you to start out with and move on from there, make sure you get a bunch of carts or cartos either way you go and at least 1 extra bat, have a good day and hope this helps a lil!-)

DSE901 is a softer airier hit and you will find fewer items for it than Joye 510.

Both DSE901 and Joye 501 use atomizer plus carts and juice - they are both 3-piece models
The other most recommended model is KR808D-1 aka Vapor King at Vapor4Life.com (a 2-piece)

Do not believe vendors on the web who claim a carto lasts as long as a pack or 1.5 packs of cigarettes - they don't. You are going to need to deal with juice unless you are rich in which case you could get a cartomizer (2-piece) model and buy hundreds of prefilled cartos and throw them out - each might last for 5-10 cigarettes worth of puffs if you don't add juice. If you add juice while they are still damp then one can often last for days.

With 3-piece ecigs the cart has to be filled or topped off with juice more often. A cart might vape well for 2-5 cigarettes worth of puffs then need to have some juice added.

I totally second the eGo-T suggestion. I've been a member of this forum since March '10 and you can see from my post count that I've been relatively active. I've read this story a hundred times and here's the progression many, many newbies make:

They start out with a standard 510 kit.. they try to modify the cart filler so that the juice will last longer between refills... they give cartomizers a try... finally they start dripping because it's just so much easier than carts or cartos. Within a month or so (often within the first week) they get sick of how short the battery life is on their 510 and start asking about upgrading to something with a longer battery life. They finally decide that the size of a larger battery would be worth it if they didn't have to keep switching out their batteries every hour and a half so they order an eGo kit.

Well, the eGo kit now comes in this new design where you no longer have to deal with carts or cartos.. you just load it up with juice and go, and if you get the one with the 1000 mah batteries it'll last all day and into the next on one battery and a handful of prefilled tanks.

If you want to you can go the newbie route and follow in all our footsteps and eventually end up with an eGo (or more likely an eGo-Tank system) you can, and you'll learn a lot from it, but why wait? Why go through the same progression that we have all been through? Skip a step (and save yourself a few bucks) and just start out with the one that works... eGo Tank!

Can't go wrong with a tank. I tried my friends 510 and the flavor just wasnt...as nice.. Although I do want to try other ecigs.. :/

Hello and welcome. Bet you are sorry you asked, huh? If time is super critical as you state, my suggestion is simply make a choice and do it. As others have said, there is really no such thing as a perfect first choice. As you grow into e-cigs your wants and needs will change. So this purchase will probably not be your last regardless. My concern would be spending so much time trying to make the right choice, you prolong your health issues.

The 510, Ego, or eGo tank are al great choices. Order some extra carts, and some juice if you think you may refill (or order the eGo Tank) and be sure to use a discount code. Many vendors have standard discounts, some give discounts to ECF members, and some give discounts for new customers. Whichever of these you choose will be a fine choice for now. Too, there will always be someone around on the forums to help you if you have any problems or questions.

Best wishes!

We don't even know what kind of cigarettes you smoke - full strength, lights, ultralights.

I recommend as a starter unit Vapor4Life.com Vapor King (a KR808D-1) with standard size manual batteries and a PCC and to start a bunch of sampler packs of carts (which are cartomizers on a 2-piece) so you can try a variety of flavors. They may still be having 30% off orders over $60 with code SuperSale30. Manual batteries with a button are less work dragging and give you more control over your drag and it will be second nature within a 1/2 hour. And get a bottle of ejuice too so you can at least try refilling them because you will run out fast if you don't.

This is the longest battery life you can get in a slim cylindrical ecig of about 120mm length (280mah or about 3-5 hours depending how often you vape, vs 2-3 hours for a 510 battery). It's a bit fatter than a cigarette - same diameter as DSE901, maybe a bit thicker than Joye 510. You get a new atomizer in every cartomizer. And once you learn to refill them you could get 2-4 days out of each cartomizer, maybe longer.

And re prefilled carts with 3-piece e-cigarettes - you could do that but if you smoke a pack day then I bet you could go through 5-pack of prefilled carts in a day if you don't add juice. A 110-120mm 3-piece will probably give you 2-3 hour battery life. And BTW - DSE901 manual batteries do not fit in their nice cigarette-pack looking PCCs that have the hard round compartments. But you can use a KR808D-1 flat heavier metal PCC for them (only hold 1 battery, 1 atomizer, 1 cart if you put 901 in it)

Welcome, RockyMtn!
Personally, I have found my breathing and general health much better since quitting tobacco cigs 8 months ago. I think that holds true for everyone on the forum. So I congratulate and encourage you.
Every suggestion here is a good one - at least for some and perhaps for you. The new eGo Tanks system (available from cignot.com among quite a few other places, but I know them and they are very fast and reliable), has some very good points to it - and a few drawbacks depending on whose post you read. I've not tried it yet, choosing a wait and see attitude for the moment on a new product.
But the suggestions on the sticky posts in the ECF Library are excellent. I encourge you to take the time to read them. I've tried KR808D-1s, 510s, eGos, cartomizers, cartos, E2V4s, atomizers, and LR atomizers. And I read on the forum a lot. Everyone - me included - will have a somewhat different opinion on what works for them. So if you make a purchasing decision and it isn't 3quite right for you, don't give up. It may cost a bit more to experiment till you find what really works right for you - but your health is worth it.
That said - probably the easiest to begin with is a KR808D-1 with pre-filled cartomizers and some eliquid with which to refill them. There are a lot of suppliers of that model, including V4L and Cigeasy and Vapornine to name just three. I had very good customer support personally from Cigeasy when I had a problem with one of my batteries.
I do recommend that you go with manual batteries - as they are less vulnerable to accidental damage than auto batteries. You will quickly get used to pressing the button. You might want to start with 24mg to 18mg eliquid. That's about the "sweet spot" for most, especially as beginners. (24mg is typical for people who smoke full flavor cigs.)
Or the eGo Tank.
Best of luck to you!

I have some of the Boge soft top cartomizers for my eGo and have yet to use one, with dripping, do I take the filler out of the cartomizer and then attach a drip tip and drip? Or leave the filling in?

well I would say leave the filling in..umm why...because I tried to remove the filling on a couple of them..and sent them both to an early death..laughs

as Rosa mentioned ecig route
I bought a 510 kit..its was small and closer to a real cig..i thought this was important
then i spent the next days attached to charging batteries..and honestly..it made me not want to vape at all because it was way too much hassle.
within a month I bought the go..and even with that i had to have the mega atomizer
just a lot less messing with all of it,,which made it much easier of a transition
only wish I knew that before i spent the initial money on the 510
good luck

and heres the page for the coupons
