I absolutely love vaping but I am apparently highly allergic to it. The past year has been rough and I've spent way too much time and money on doctors. I thought I'd try snus and see what happens. I'm totally clueless as to what brand and flavors to try. I like a rich tobacco flavor. I hate fruit and mint flavors. I vape Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured and would like a flavor similar to that. I don't even know where to get snus or whether I can buy it locally.

I appreciate any information and help I can get.

    Somewhere between here and there
Well, with the PACT act taking effect, there's not alot of places to order from online any more. I would probably suggest Getsnus.com. If it's straight tobacco flavor you want then I would maybe suggest Ettan or Lab01 to start with. If you haven't tried swedish snus before then I'll warn you that it takes a little getting used to the salty taste of it but after a while you don't even notice it. You might be able to find Discreet brand snus at a local tobacco shop and they have different flavors of that. Some people like the taste of the camel and marlboro SNUS but honestly to me it doesn't seem to have enough nicotine content for me. The swedish brands are much better in my opinion but you might want to try the marlboro or camel to see if it's even something that you are going to want to do. Most places they are sold at gas stations and convenience stores. I am sure the other regulars in this forum will be along before long to provide more suggestions.

    Places to order

Get Snus at GetSnus.com. The US based online snus store
Northerner. Buy Swedish Snus & Snuff Online. The Healthy Smokeless Tobacco Alternative
The above two are essentially the same. They are the only seller with a US warehouse

Buy Snus, Order Swedish snus online world wide - BuySnus.com
    Shipped from Sweden

I would agree with Ettan and Lab 01 for pure tobacco flavor. A few other possibilities for a first order would be
    Roda Lacket
    Grovsnus
Tre Ankare (also available in a mini)
Odens Kenel (tobacco flavor mild cinnamon)
Gotlands anise (tobacco flavor with a mild licorice)
Skruf white portion (only available at buysnus)

All of the above except for Tre Ankare which is available as a mini are standard 8 mg portions. I would suggest going with the white portions as opposed to original portions as there are a little easier to take for beginners. Also read the beginners guild to snus at the top of the smokeless section.

    Happy snusing

Hi Suzieq. One of the standard responses around here for someone coming fresh to snus is try out General Mini Mint. It's a small sized portion, mint flavored of course, and doesn't leave any tell-tale "bump" under your lip. The mint has been pretty much my go-to flavor since I started snussing.

For straight tobacco, I generally use Ettan and Grovsnus. These are going to seem very salty at first, but after a week or so most people don't seem to notice. To echo Stubby, the white portions are a good place to start with regular tobacco flavors.

Thanks, guys. I bought the Marlboro yesterday and I like it but I'd like to try the Swedish snus. Looks like GetSnus can't ship to my state. :-(

I haven't heard of any problems shipping to GA. I think Mass, Iowa and SD had problems that Northerner was trying to work out, but not GA. Try Northerner instead of Getsnus and see if that works.

    SuzieQ,

See other recent post from a snus newbie with similar questions:

    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-tobacco/108408-help-request-pv-veteran-but-snus-newbie.html

According to the web site, General brand Swedish snus is supposedly sold at these tobacco shops in/near Augusta:

    Tobaccoland of Augusta
    3450 Wrightsboro Rd., #1445
    Augusta GA, 30909
    706-738-8381

    Marcella's Fine Cigars
    2921 Washington Road
    Augusta GA, 30909
    706-399-6921

    Pipe Dreams
Aiken Mall, 2441 Whiskey Road C
    Aiken SC, 29803
    803-642-0080

I'd give 'em a call first to see what they have in stock. Might be a good place to start. General is way better then US stuff, IMO. By the way, you might like the General mints, even if you don't like menthol nic-juice. I was a menthol smoker but I never found a mint/menthol liquid I could stand to vape. Yet I really enjoy mint snus. I also like the JC Tenn Cured (which comes in a VG version --if it's the PG that you are allergic to)

Hope you find something that suits you.

There is snuscentral.com. Not to be confused with snuscentral.org which has a forum too and alot of info.

I did not have a problem ordering from them. In fact they were quite nice. They sent a note that one type I ordered (Phantom Classic) was not available at the time of my order and asked if I wanted to substitute or wait.

I too like the straight / more traditional tobacco flavors as well. On my first order though, I did try some flavored types (Like Mocca Anis - Liquorish flavor) and it turned out I like it. (Although that can depend on what day it is too. It seems as though my taste buds are all over the place at times. One day something will be the cats meow to me, then on other days, the litter box. So, I would suggest an assortment to go to and fro. (For some reason it seems if I stick with one type and flavor for too long, it seems to turn a bitter taste to me. So I switch out with something else and I'm good to go.)

BTW, Toboca is a traditional flavor as well I believe.
