A few years ago I bought my first vape. I don't recall the name of it but it was some Pen style vape. It was awful as it would always leak juice into my mouth and it didn't satisfy the cravings as I would continually be using it and the battery died very quickly. I continued smoking and shot out that vape. Fast forward to a month ago when my fiancée decided to quit smoking and I wanted to be supportive so I decided to try as well. The first vape I picked up was a kanger top evod kit. I used it for a week and knew that it was not for me after trying my fiancées vape that he picked up which was an I stick 40w and so I bought one for myself. I was smoking a pack a day for 12 years. I have been vaping for a month now and during that time I have smoked about a pack. I have been lurking on this website for a while now and decided to officially join as everyone here seems knowledgable and helpful. Thank you to everyone for sharing your knowledge.I apologize if this is long. Happy vaping .

Congrats and welcome!

We veterans like to tell beginner vapers, "It's not how many cigarettes that you smoke that is important, it's how many you DON'T SMOKE that's important".

In other words, not everyone is able to quit smoking cold turkey when they begin vaping. Everyone's experience is different. It took me a week before I was able to stop smoking completely, but that's just my story. For some people they smoke and vape for months, but as long as they are vaping more than smoking that's still a positive.

A little tip that worked for me. After failing to quit using nicotine gum/patches/lozenges, prescription meds, and hypnosis I was pretty sure that I'd still get strong cravings when I began vaping.

When I got a cig craving, I vaped more. If that didn't help get rid of the craving, I allowed myself HALF of a cigarette and put out the rest. I saved the unfinished .... for the next bad craving. Those second half cigs tasted pretty bad, but that actually helped me to quit. I was training myself to dislike the taste of smoked tobacco. I smoked the equivalent of four complete cigarettes at the beginning of the week. Before the week was out, I began to hate the taste of the cigarettes and prefer vaping only. I haven't had or even wanted a cigarette since.

Welcome aboard! I spent 5 months or so trying to find a setup that let me give up analogs, and didn't hit paydirt until I got to 60 watts. It can be a struggle, but it's worth it, and so are you. I hope you and your fiancée are successful in giving up cigarettes, but it is important to remember that it is a process. I have been smoke free for almost 9 months now, and I still have cravings, and even dreams about smoking. There are days when it is not easy, but I know that I am happier without the lightheaded mornings, without running out of breath going up stairs, without the constant lack of energy, and without the constant stink.
If you find your setup is still not working for you, the people on here have loads of good advice on new gear, and tune-ups. I would also recommend that if you have a good vape sop in your area, you get to know the people that work there. I deal almost exclusively with a company called Dash Vapes, that operates a number of stores in the Toronto area, and the people there are extremely helpful in answering questions ranging from basic to arcane. Some areas are not as well served as Toronto, but if there is a vape shop in your area, it is likely that the people that work there vape themselves, and probably care about what they do.
