Hello everyone! I finally decided to take the plunge and try vaping after smoking a-pack-a-day for the past 15 years.

At first I was extremely skeptical as I've tried everything else to cut back on smoking and nothing has worked.

Well, it's been 3 days and I'm simply blown away! I've smoked 7 cigs as opposed to 60 in the past 3 days and have never felt better! It used to be that I had to force myself to stay away from cigs....now, I can't stand the smell and taste! Needless to say, my wife is ecstatic!

I did a fair bit of reading before deciding what to buy and finally went with the Fusion kit from Bloog (one of the main reasons was cheap international shipping!) and have to say that I'm impressed....decent battery life, a nice throaty hit and lots of vapor. I'm going through about 1 - 2 carts a day. After reading what many have been saying, I also decided to try a Joye 510 kit from Heaven Gifts and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive!

I have also already committed my first newbie mistake of not ordering extra carts with my Fusion kit.....reason being that I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy vaping. As such, I'm down to my last 2 carts and am desperately praying for my new supplies to get here ASAP!

I have much to learn and look forward to reading as much as I can on this forum!

Real quick question and I appreciate anyone who can help me out!
I notice that after awhile, there is a burning smell and taste from my cart. Is that normal? What should/shouldn't I be doing?

Burning/roasting/toasting is a bad thing, you don't want to do that.

It's normal to accidentally ruin a few carts when you first start vaping, but it's not something you want to continue doing. It happens when your cart gets too dry, the atomizer will actually start causing the wick and filler material to start charring. Burning the wick causes performance to drop, if it's bad enough it will stop working at all. After getting burned the nasty taste on that cart may not ever go away, but cleaning it out might help.

If you only have a couple of carts I don't know if you should try cleaning right away. I think the most effective method is to boil them, but that makes the cart unusable for a day or two until the water dries. You're probably better off keeping your carts filled until you get more supplies in. Once you have some more carts you can try cleaning the ones you have to see if they can be recovered or not.

Once your tastebuds start working again you'll have a much easier time identifying when a cart's taste starts dropping off, that's one of the telltale signs that it's getting low and should be refilled. Some people notice a decrease in vapor production, too. Unfortunately, carts will continue to function past the point when they should be refilled. There's a fairly long period where a low cart will have enough juice to create vapor, but not enough to protect the material from the heat of the atomizer.

by the looks of it you have a e cig with a cartomizer (like the kr-808/vaporking/nebula etc). great e cig by the way, but the cartomizers are NOT disposable, you should get weeks-months off of your cartomizers if you refill them properly. I'm not sure if you have purchased juice yet, but if you haven't its a must. This will keep your costs of vaping drastically low and will allow you to enjoy other flavors besides the what the stock cartomizers have to offer. there are several videos on refilling cartomizers on youtube and eventually you will recognize when your cartomizers should be refilled (drop in vapor or taste). congratulations on quitting the habit, just a heads up, some people begin coughing up the tar and crap in their lungs during the first 2 weeks of quitting. so be prepared, not to mention some serious mood swings (i was a pain to be around for 3 days straight =P ). Good luck with the transition!

hello to you mr Viking,

im from malaysia too, ive been registered to this forum for quite some time, never really had the itch to contribute, probably because i had none in the first place.

Nice to see a fellow malaysian getting all psyched about his e-cig experience, just like how i was when i first started, ive been vaping since end of January and its been great yet a bit "rough" experience, ill explain why.

as you dig deeper in the e-cig industry here (in Malaysia), ull notice theres a lot of rip-offs going on. one company had the nerve to claim that their e-cig is manufactured in the US! very sad indeed. had to go through a few bumpy first-tries to actually get to the good ones that im vaping now. got into a fight with one of the dealers because when one my battery broke down, not only did he gave a lot of excuses to exchange the faulty one, he actually had the nerve to promote another e-cig that goes for a higher price.

another thing about the e-cig industry here is the fact that nearly everything seemed overpriced that it makes u think twice to buy em, and if when u find out device is faulty ull start cursing like mad thinking how much uve invested in it. oh well, i know that its growing, but how the some of the dealers here treat their customers in unbelievable

Currently using an eGo, one company sells em here in malaysia, i think they're the only one, and they sell e-liquid too (you might wanna start dripping, cause ur gonna probably start hating carts sooner or later), and most importantly, good customer service (at least for now), dont wanna name the company here for now, as i dont want to be accused of being an agent or something. if ur interested, pm me and ill pass u the information.

so anyway, happy vaping, and do you mind telling me which part of Malaysia are you from? im from Johor, currently residing in Selangor :)

i think i need to start contributing more this forum, heh, g'day folks!

It might be cheaper for you guys to order direct from China no? Heavensgifts and - the other 2 I can never remeber the names of :) They have threads here in the suppliers forums though; prices are decent for people in the US - not sure how it works out for you though.
Best of luck!

Edit oh I think Healthcabin is one.

Hi Vikings.

Burning smell/taste is not normal. Happens even when dripping when the atty gets too dry. I mainly drip, but when I used carts, I fluffed the "caked" part of the filling with a needle before refilling and primed the atty with 1-2 drops before replacing the cart. Main thing is to keep the atty wet at all times w/o flooding.

When your new attys arrive, you may want to try Highping's resurrection method on your old attys

Best wishes to you in Malaysia!!

i ordered about 10 510 starter kit and some e-liquids last month from China and got taxed almost RM100 per starter kit...the supplier did declared the item at very low price, around USD50 for the whole package but the customs didn't buy that, they're very well versed in this e-cig thing i guess.. had to pay them about RM1k for the whole package

but at least i get a decent e-cig now compared to those sold here..

Wow....really sorry to hear that. Yeah, our customs officials can be quite moronic with their decision making at times. By right, you can actually state your case clearly with them and don't back down. They are actually only entitled to tax you based on the declared amount of the goods and not some number they choose to pick out of the air. More often than not, they'll throw a huge number at you in the hope that you'll choose to bribe them (which is what they're looking for in the first place).

Unfortunately, luck also plays a part. If your package gets inspected by the wrong person at the wrong time, you're more or less in trouble! According to their manifest, they are only supposed to open and check packages that have a declared value of US$100 and above. Anything below that is subject to random checking....so you could have been unlucky.

I know of a few guys who've routinely brought in packages with at least 30-40 kits and haven't even had to go down to the customs depot in Sepang.....they received their packages with no problems at all so you could have just been really unlucky :(
