Hello there,

Let's see... My name is Ken, I'm 28, and have been smoking for about 11-12yrs or so. I'm not really looking to quit, more so looking into a "healthier" way to get my nicotine fix.

I did some research, and decided on buying the Joye 510 kit. It cost me right around $37USD. Ordered it about 1.5 weeks ago, and can't wait to finally receive it. After finally deciding on the j510, a bunch of people seem to recommend buying it from heavengifts.com, so I did.

Seeing how I'm (oh) so excited to get it (if it actually comes), I did have a few questions. Btw, I did skim over the newbie area before posting this thread.

1. What the heck is a throat hit?
I'm assuming it would the equivalent to smoking an "analog" cig, but I'm wondering how one would explain it.

2. How do you know when a cart is finished?
My younger brother was saying how he read an article where someone had to go to the hospital because the guy kept trying to inhale an empty cart ...blah blah blah

3. When smoking an e-cig indoors (movies, clubs, pool halls, etc...), how often do people come up to you to ask you to do that somewhere else?
I purchased the joye 510 with a blue LED if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

Throat hit is that feeling you get when you draw the vapor in your throat, most like a good TH because it makes it close to an analog.

I don't know about going to the hospital over this, but you will learn with experience that it will taste kinda burnt. This is how you know when you need to add juice to the cartridge or drip more into the atty if you are dripping.

Haven't had any response other than interest when somebody has seen me vape. Most smokers want to know more about it and I point them to this forum.

Don't feel bad about not knowing what a throat hit is. My husband smoked for 10 years before he quit and I said something about a throat hit and he didn't know what I meant. You don't really realize when smoking a cigarette you are even getting a throat hit. When you inhale you get this smoke feel on the back of your throat. This is the same thing you get when vaping. There may be times when you vape that you don't get the TH. Try taking a deep slow draw off of a cigarette and see how it feel on the back of your throat. This a throat hit. It is really hard to explain until you experience it.

If you are vaping in a non-smoking place there will be a lot of people that come up to you and tell you not to smoke. You will have to expain each time that you are vaping. I usually don't vape in a non-smoking area for this reason.

You can tell when a cart is empty when you don't produce any vapor and it starts to taste burnt. You will find out it is quite easy to know.

that is the exact reason i got a black joye510 with blue LED. i have never vaped in a no smoking sections (except for my house and a few stealth vapes at work) but from vaping in public have been asked about it a few times. i got my pv right before school started from using it for 2-3 hour during my breaks for the last 4 weeks and have had 3 ppl show interest; 1 guy interested in quitting smoking, 1 pothead asking if it worked for weed, and 1 fellow vaper asking about any mods.

May have a new business model there, lol.

As I understand it, HeavensGifts is in China, and shipping can be slow due to customs and whatnot. I prefer to get my goods from domestic suppliers, simply because it's an ordinary domestic shipment at that point. Cignot has been my main source thusfar, and I'd happily use them again.

You'll want juices too sooner or later, depending how much you ordered. I'm a fan of TastyVapor (which is located in NorCal, so the shipment time is excellent)

A lot of this is trial and error - the empty cart thing, you'll learn what a drying-out cart tastes like fairly quickly (didn't take me too long at all) - top em off. Eventually you'll probably want to either delve into the cart mods, or start dripping - the stock carts are, IMO, the single biggest weakness of vaping

Well, I totally understand these questions. I was there not that long ago myself.

Basically, the troat hit,, like an analogue, is a burning sensation in the back of the throat. That is heat, combined with smoke (in an analogue), or heat combined with vapor (in an e-cig). It's purely a sensation. What's very liberating about vaping is that the vapor, is a hell of allot more healthier for you than the smoke from an analogue. You will get varying degrees of TH depending on the model and/or juice you are vaping. The 510 is a good start. You won't be dissapointed. You can only move up from there.

As far as vaping in public places? Well, if I do it, I use a non-lighting vaporer, like my eGo. Of course, I try to be a little reclusive but when I get confronted, I simply say that I have serious lung issues and I get medication via vapor through the unit (which, when you think about it is not necessarily a lie), they glance at it, it doesn't look like an "analog" so they quickly go on with their business. No problem. I think it's the tobacco smoke they are mostly expecting to smell, of course, they don't. No harm, no foul. Either way you are within your legal boundries..

On a funny side note, I had a quarterly medical procedure done this last week. I usually go in and lay there on a bed for about 3 hours before they take me in. There are other patience in the room in various stages of recovery, etc. but we are all separated by curtains. Normally, I would be laying there and after 45 min. or so, I would get the ol' nic fit, a really bad need for a cig.. However, this time I had my little eGo and was able to vape on it while laying there waiting. I did get busted however by one of the anesthesiologists. He pulled the curtain open while I was blowing smoke (vape) rings, LOL! What a bust! Ok, first a horrified look, then one of disgust, but I did actually laugh,, nervously. I showed him my eGo, and explained what it was. Oddly enough, he had never heard of e-cigs/vaper's. After explaining it to him, no smoke, just a very fine water vapor, that's all, he was ok with it (and pleaded with him not to mention it to the nurses). I still think he was a bit skeptical, since the vapor does look just like smoke when it lingers a bit. But! No smell! That's where I got him!

Anyway, my point is. Vaping is one of the best health choices you could have ever made for yourself. It's also one of the most convenient and economically feasible choices you have made as well. Yes, if you are like me, I like to screw with people who are the typical "anti-smoker" you know, those who just get all twisted up over seeing anybody enjoying a cigarette, eventhough they can't smell it. You know what I'm talking about. You are about 100 yards down at the end of the mall, and some jerk goes nuts over seeing vapor coming from your ecig. Well, unfortunately, there are a great deal of laws and legistlation coming around outlawing even vaping. Freakin idiots!!! As idiotic as it sounds. We should still do all we can to at least still be mindful of this kind of stuff. So, vape away! Welcome,, the water's warm, c'mon in!
