Hi All,

Have been lurking awhile and decided to register and post.
I just picked up vaping and have been enjoying it for the past month or so. So new in fact that I already lost one of my e-cig kits  I need to add this into my pocket-checklist (phone, wallet, keys, & e-cig!).

Being the gearhead I am, I already foresee this becoming a hobby. I may be getting ahead of myself, but I'm looking into mechanical mods. I don't know all the makes and models out there - are there any recommendations? (or should I just stick to eGos for now?)

Thanks!

I am a newbie too. I saw a Zenesis (referenced somewhere on here) and it looks very sleek for a mod. I would love one but people are saying they won't be available till later in the year. (May-ish). Good luck. I want the battery power, the sleek design of an ecab and 2ml tank....not quite finding that so far....any suggestions or photos would be great!

welcome! I moved from an ego (which I still use pretty regularly) to a Silver Bullet within a month of vaping. After 4 months the Silver Bullet is still rocking it as my main vape. The thing is built like a tank, it substitutes for an emergency glass breaker/ fist packer. I recently added the Kick by Evolv which gives it a boost autocorrected to whatever your delivery's resistance is. Definitely browse the forums and check reviews. If you're a techy/electrician/engineer the Modifications forum is pretty awesome but a bit over my head.

That said, if you have a big enough wallet, i say go for it, try some stuff out.

I don't own a silver bullet but if I were going to buy a mechanical mod it would be my # 1 choice. I try to invest in things that will last really long or forever. The silver bullet and the Rio are both tried and true and have a large following. They are both simple mechanicals that are well loved by the community here.

I just have a normal eGo passthrough. Reason being is that I'm surrounded by an abundance of USB cables. Having to get chargers for work/home/travel/etc.. didn't appeal all too much to me.
As for why I am looking for mechanical; I guess I want it for its simplicity and durability. Not to knock on current/future mods (I'm bound to get a few), but I feel that the more components there are in a device, the more that can go wrong.

If you don't have a VV, get one (well, 2) -- then look into modding.

I'm in Cupertino, finish up your 10 posts so I can pm you. I can show you my gear, one item of which is an as-yet-unused-because-I'm-chicken mechanical mod. Be sure to surf the Puck!

Greets from an hour or so up the 101.

Mechanical mods can be fun to mess with. I'm particularly fond of my GGTS. They're pretty expensive for a beginner, but a large part of the attraction for me is the insane number of configurations you can get out of them, particularly once you get a few spare parts. They're like Lincoln Logs for vapeheads.

You also sound like just the sort of person RBAs were aimed at. Another expensive but possibly fun thing to have might be something like a Cobra that will allow you to try out a wide variety different wick and coil configurations.

Now, both of those are pretty advanced as far as vaping equipment goes, but I'm only a couple months or so into this and I've found them to be a lot of fun to mess with (in addition to being occasionally frustrating, as machines can be when you start screwing with them, but that's just part of the deal). Just a couple options to keep in mind when you get to the point that blowing a couple hundred bucks on a piece of equipment sounds like something you might enjoy doing.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Sorry, whats the Puck?

The PUCK e-Cig Mod - An e-Cigarette Box Mod You Can Build Cheap and Easy and Uses Standard Rechargable Batteries
From the site:
If you have been using regular old commercial e-cigs, you may have been disappointed by them. I know I was. After months of experimenting, i came up with a simple e-cigarette mod that works so well I couldn’t believe it. It uses regular AAA rechargable batteries you can buy at any store. 98 percent of the parts you can buy at your local radioshack (everything except the atomizer). You should be able to get all of the parts for under $10 (excluding the atomizer which you can order and is usually around 6 bucks or so)..
