Hello all! First time poster, short time browser here. Although the reason I've decided to take the plunge into registering is because of how much I've learnt in that short time!

I've been vaping for around 4 months now after my boss at work introduced it to me. His friend is a big vape fan from Canada and even has his own online store and decided to gift my boss with tons of stuff to kick him from his hardcore smoking habit. After seeing my boss vaping around work he was kind enough to let me give it a try and I was hooked!

Thanks to him I started out with a Joytech starter kit and some 24mg Raspberry and Strawberry e-liquid. Since then I've been delving deeper and deeper into the hobby myself and have ended up liking the 6-11mg liquid more. Slowly trying out different mixes, flavours and parts. Still a bit daunting at the moment but this forum has been invaluable for whenever I've found myself with any questions on this and that... so thank you all!

Not sure how much time I'll have to post or whether I have that much of interest to say, but it's looking to be a community I'd want to be a part of on one level or another! Well, that's about it I think... sorry for the long post.

Thank you everyone who has replied so far!

I'm glad my boss introduced me to it, too. Very lucky! I didn't know e-cigarettes like this existed since most of the ones in my home country (UK!) are those awful looking fake cigarette ones and I'd never wanted to try it. As for Japan, they seem almost non-existant unless you know people who vape.

The starter kit my boss bought me included 24mg like I said, although coming off smoking 1mg cigarettes it was a little hard going! Since then I've bought the 11mg and I've ordered the 6mg to try. Might end up going for the 0mg in the end though, since I love the flavour and vape quite a lot and was never really smoking for the nicotine anyways. Still, almost 4 months now and going without smoking real cigarettes and don't miss them at all, even with all the weird variety here in Japan!

Still on a quest to find somewhere that sells decent Raspberry and Blueberry over here, though...

Haha, it is quite an interesting place to live! Especially if another of your hobbies is gaming, since I live not too far from Akihabara and the brilliant gaming arcades there! :D You should definitely come over and visit if you have the chance!

I'm still trying to work out if it's as good for the whole vaping scene, though. I only know a couple of other vapers and they're both foreign and from what I know Japan has something against the selling of nicotine liquid although I might be wrong...?

Shame I learnt about this too late before moving away from the UK. I hear there are quite a few communities over there! Who knows though, maybe I can help found one over here!

Welcome!

I must say though, every Japanese e-cig website I've visited scared me. Would you say that the general e-cig culture in Japan is aimed at getting people off real cigarettes and not like the hybrid culture that's developing elsewhere with a wide variety of personal vapors and artisan e-juice vendors along side cigarette look-alike vendors?

I honestly can't see someone vaping on a Provari with a Vivi Nova tank in front of Bic Camera... (I grew up in Yokohama!)

I would love to be the first person to do that! At the moment I don't think my basic e-go set-up looks quite so cool. Although it does get some looks from the other players at the arcade whilst they're smoking their regular cigs. It's nice to break out my vape and watch their confused looks! How long have you been away from Yokohama? One of the bigger places I haven't been to yet, even though it's so close to Tokyo!

In all honesty I haven't seen any e-cigs over here except for the two people I know who do it too. Smoking still seems to be as big as ever even if the bans on where you can and can't smoke have got wider. It's surprising they've progressed as far as banning it on regular streets, since when I came here on holiday 4 years ago you could smoke anywhere and everywhere. That said you can still smoke in most restaurants in the vicinity of non-smokers and kids. A McDonalds near where I work has smoking seats right next to where all the young kids sit. You can't really escape the smoke even if you try!

I'm still trying to venture into finding a vaping community over here if there is any. At the moment all I've used for purchasing is sites that ship from China too. Best I've found so far, but who knows, may find more. Apparently there's a vape shop in Osaka...

Thanks too, Boiler! A Hello Kitty e-cig might be just the thing to break the market here!
