The eGo would be great, but keep in mind it's not slim. Think of it as the size of a Sharpie marker or so, with the length varying by the model (the larger mAh models tend to be the longer ones, though there are a few exceptions to that rule).

The Smokeless Image Volt (not the Volt X2 on the same site!) looks much like a cigarette, just a little longer, with a cartomizer attached. Battery life won't be as good as the eGo (or Volt X2 should you decide to go that route), but they do offer a familiar form and the batteries are pretty good.

Most of us start with a cigarette look-alike (I did) and then abandon it later for the Sharpie marker or, in my case, something that looks like a policeman's baton. :) Nobody's going to point at you for doing that, a lot of us did when we adjusted and learned that we wanted more battery lifespan. Your comfort level is the most important thing here as that's what's going to get you to quit smoking.

I would go with the Joye eGo. The eGo helpt me stop after 25years roll my own Van Nelle Export and Brandaris 150gram per week. 24mG didn't do it for me, I needed 36 to kick off. But most likely 24 will do it for you. Maybe have a 10mL bottle of 30mG just in case. You can always delute it later if needed .The first 2-4 weeks you really do not want to have the urge to smoke. That way your mindset is positive about not falling back to those analog sticks. lol

Hang in there.

edit: I missed the part about the dimensions. I don't know if there are any that work well with the look and/or dimensions of an analo one. I've seen nothing but misery with them, maybe someone else can recommand any. But otherwise ask yourself this. Is looks more important than stopping succesfully??

Thanks for the input and advice!

And not so much "appearance" to others, as I don't typically smoke in public anyway. But to psyche my own mind out I was shooting for starting w/ an ecig that most resembles what I am accustomed to holding/smoking, IYKWIM.

Oh. As far as liquid, definitely get some 24 mg. If it isn't going to break the bank, order a little 18 mg at the same time. Start with the 24 and use the 18 if you find yourself nauseated, headachy, or notice your heart pounding (you're going into nicotine overdose). Save the 24 for mornings, when most of us notice our urge to smoke is greater for the first few weeks (this does fade).

I stabilized at 22 mg (I was an oddball). My mother stabilized at 12! Most of us seem to head for the 20-24 mg range to start, but there are certainly exceptions.

I also recommend the Joye Ego kit. Think of it this way when you Vape, are you wanting a Vape that you say wow, I love this taste and throat hit, or are you wanting a sort of weak okay Vape but look good holding a pen style? Also, do you really feel like charging constantly throughout the day to use a pen size batt. I literally had to buy 4 of them to get through a day and carry them around. I had to constantly be charging them on a USB port on my comp at my desk. They cost me more than an ego would. Unfortunately when I started vaping, they didn't really have egos then.

The Volt batts Are cig size though and do seem to last a good amount of time, although the throat hit isn't as strong. If you get them you can get 2 batteries that would get you through the day as long as you get their pcc battery charger box so you wan charge them while on the go. They really are the best to me as far as a small batt, but they still aren't as strong a Vape as an ego. You will have to weigh the differences.

I know what you mean. The first two days I also had a sore throat, because it's very dry. It certainly is different then a cigarette, but if you really want to stop, this is in my opinion the way to do it. I stopped cold turkey for 6months and started again. After a month I stepped over to vaping. Thats almost three years ago. Twice I fell back to smoking for 5-6 days because of short supply and defect atomizer. But when the stuff arrived, I swaped right back to vaping, without a thought, in a split second. Because I knew IT WORKS. Now I'm still on 24-30mG and have plenty supply, so no worries and regular sigs stink terribly so I couldn't do it no more.

I smoked for 30 yrs and tried everything to quit. I even paid $150 for the lasers on the ears. It did take away the physical withdrawals but I still dealt with the emotional withdrawals. It's sort of like alcoholics that gets past the physical withdrawals but still want a drink. I still wanted a smoke. I felt that I would die smoking. I just couldn't conquer it. I ordered my first Ecig while sucking on an empty ballpoint pen casing. Lol. Ya, I was on a quit phase and miserable. Once I got my Ecig, I loved it more than real cigs. I have never missed cigs since I started vaping. I actually like vaping more.

Isn't it just hilarious how most of us had so much trouble trying to stop with whatever kind of method but didn't succeed.
My parents both stopped cold turkey after reading the book from Alen Carr, but I couldn't with or without help.
Until I was just tired of trying and the agony was killing me. I wanted to but just didn't had the will power.
Then I found this forum (I believe) and research it (tide on money) I made the right choise and been preaching it ever since. lol

Welcome, Natasha. Your questions have been answered far better than I could. I just want to encourage you to keep vaping. I smoked for over 40 years and was absolutely convinced I could not quit.

Using e-cigs/PVs, I haven't smoked a cigarette in over 14 months. Vaping has been a miracle for me. Keep trying new flavors, new PVs til you find what you really like. I feel whatever we spend for vaping supplies, it is a wonderful investment in our health. Good luck.

Congratulations on your success and thank you for the encourgement, Jo. I want to quit smoking. It has to happen.

Also thank you to everyone else for sharing your wisdom and opinions. I'm going to heed advice given, keep it simple, and start with the VOLT.

YET ANOTHER QUESTION.....

With the VOLT, if I plan to buy blank cartos & fill w/ niq in the future, should I order the MANUAL batteries instead of the sealed auto batteries?
From what I am reading on the smokelessimage website, manual batteries are needed when using refillable cartos...? BUT there is a warning up now on the site that there is currently an issue w/ manual batteries charging in the PCC. Pffft

First of all, thank you all for compiling SOOO much good info. I've bought disposable ecigs b4 at local smoker's outlets and have thus far been highly unimpressed. Now I know why!
I've read all of the info put for forth by DONDABOOMVAPE in the Library, which I found both very helpful and entertaining.. thank you for making this effort.

I finally have some great hope that after near 30 yrs of analog, I may have found a way to QUIT! Which I very much want to do.

SO... I'm probably going to order a BE-112 pen-stylehttp://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/11086/dondaboomvape.html, and perhaps a mini-something for airport travel. And some flavors. And some accessories.

What I am still unsure of is what nicotine level to try to start with. As I said I've smoked for almost 30 yrs. I smoke VS Menthol Superslims, usually 3/4 to 1 PAD. Any advice in this area would be most appreciated.

TIA:)

Btw, Dondaboom is local here and I've met him. Him and Eric at vapingguides.com are great guys and do a real good job. :)

The auto batts work just fine with cartomizers that you fill yourself. I have them. The main thing is to fill the carts when they are not on the battery until they drip out the bottom and you know they are saturated. Then dry the bottom off and put them on the batt. The only problem is if you fill the cart while on the batt and let it flood down inside the batt by overfilling the carts. The auto batts are sealed but a lot of flooding could possible go in through the side seems maybe, but not easily. They basically have to say that warning in case people totally abuse it. I never had a problem and preferred the auto. And I highly recommend getting the pcc. Also, if you go to the volt forum in here and post a pic with your volt, they will send you a free batt or bottle of juice. :)
