After reading the forum for a couple of weeks I decided to try a manual 402 kit +PCC at my first PV to see if it would be enough for me. My former smoke of choice was Capri Ultralights - super-slim with ingredients that include a bit of cocoa and honey (my boss called them Barbie cigarettes). They were very light, nice taste, not a ton of smoke or TH. But when the cartons got to be over $60 I had to switch to something a lot cheaper and went with Pall Mall Orange (almost $20 cheaper per carton) but they are harsh for me. And I waste many cigarettes per day with an urge leading to 3-4 puffs then chucking it to get back to whatever I was doing. They make my throat sore and annoy my sinuses. I am looking for something lighter and more affordable.

I never tried to quit because I am too obsessed with smoking so I want to try a PV. I am hoping to not fall in a trap of escalating my nicotine usage or vaping all the time. I did not buy a passthrough - I spend most hours of my day at a computer at work or at home and I don't want to be vaping all the time. I still want to walk out to the warehouse at work to partake of my nicotine and to the bathroom at room.

re the manual 402 kit - I imagine some people will think it's a newbie first choice but I know some people like them fine, I like the size of the PCC, I can screw around with carts and atty at work if need be. Gonna try dipping too. I bought an extra atty and have 2 batteries in the kit. If it doesn't work out for me I will buy something else.

My questions are general...

1. How easy is it to use PV's and not escalate nicotine dependency and/or frequency of usage?

2. Does anyone actually have luck quitting nicotine with a PV by reducing the mg of their fluid?

Welcome to ECF! I don't believe that my nicotine dependency has increased at all since I started vaping. I smoked a lot and I vape a lot. I have been vaping 18mg pretty much since I started. On the second question, I'm so amazed that I don't smoke anymore that I haven't really thought about cutting down the nic. I just want to be happy for awhile. Maybe later I will think about it.

It is all about self discipline. If you keep to your normal smoking schedule-no fiddling with it unless you are going to vape-you'll do fine.
As for the quitting nicotine, I have read where members are slowly reducing their mg levels and working on the complete nicotine free and hopefully to no vaping. Some have even succeeded!!!!!!!

Welcome to the ECF, dormouse.

Oh-Dipping is fun and has great taste-just be sure to keep it wet-the atomizer mesh. Since you have gotten used to a few quick puffs off a cigarette, you should be good at the dip factor-LOL.

My questions are general...

1. A PV won't escalate nicotine dependency. Each individual will have to find out how much and often they use a PV in comparison to satasify their individual urge. I'd recommend buying sample amounts at first at various nicotine levels to see what works for you best.

2. Many have reported having luck lowering nic levels or even vaping 0 nic juice, again that'll depend on the individual, you'll just have to experiment with that. At any rate I wouldn't worry about that until you've found what your looking for that satisifies you. You're already making a huge step in the right direction by replacing the analogs, get that done first and if you want to move from there worry about it at that point.

I personally go between 18 and 24mg. At 24 I can take a few hits put it down and I'm fine for quite a while so that's what I go with most often. 18 also works for me but I find I have to use it more often to get the same effect. I've also tried 12mg and that almost put me in the chain vaping category.

Thanks for the answers.

Since I am smoking 1.5 packs pall mall lights at 12mg per pack = 18mg I am starting with some 18mg Marlboro-ish type and got some small bottles of 16mg and 12mg Marlboro-ish and some flavors for experimenting. I figure I'll be fiddling/vaping with it extra initially and didn't want to over-nic myself.

I still need to research popular lower priced tobacco liquids so I can reorder more pretty quickly. And maybe one of the other flavors I got MyPVShop or StrictlyEjuice will attract me enough to use often (apricot, cappucino, chocolate bavarian cream, cinnabiscus, and Chai).

I'm interested in trying 401 cartomizers too but I guess I would have to order them from China. I'll wait until I see how I like the 401 then order some I guess.
